I was rearranging the items in my inventory and trying on some new outfits when I got really flustered with how I have a ton of random stuff scattered all over my inventory. Compared to others, I know mine isn't all that large (only two pages), but it's still annoying me to no end because I only look at the first page and completely forget about the second page until hours later. I'm thinking about organising them into different drawers, but I'll probably end up getting even more annoyed with the items on even more different pages than just organising them all in the same drawer.


So, fellow Menewshans, how do you organise your inventory?

Do you arrange them in seperate colors?
Do you arrange them according to their layer? (headwears with headwears, footwears with footwears, etc.)
Do you use the drawers feature?
Do you not organise them and just allow them be in whichever order they are as soon as the item lands in your inventory?

For myself, I do not have enough commons to arrange them according to colours.
I do utilise the drawers, though not for my main, but for my mule. My main only has 3 pages, whereas my mule... I can't remember. I sort them according to CIs and events. Commons would go to the main inventory. The commons will be sorted by layer (crowns and tiaras in a clump, earrings in a group, shorts in one group, long pants in another etc.etc.) and the release date of the item.

I sort mine according to color, though within the colors I sort them by layer, from the headwears to shoes. Many of the colors are pushed to the second page because on the first page I have too many items of the same color and they're all stacked with each other, so I have a hard time finding particular items when dressing up @[email protected]

I have 3 drawers.

Main inventory, CIs and EIs.

My main inventory is all of my commons, organised by colour. No real idea behind the colour organization, but basically based on majority, with some colours in between. I think now it's Pink, Red, Red&Gold, Blue&Gold, Blue, Blue&Purple, Purple, Black, Black & White, White, Grey and so on.

CIs are organised according to release date basically, except for the few months back in 07 when I forget when what was released. xD

I've seen scary inventory shots before where they have drawers for every layer and/or drawers separated by colours.

I have my main invo to hold things i'll eventually get trading to my mule, my commons draw where i have all my commons ordered by colour, then my EI and CI draws that are order by release date xD

I tried to organize my commons by layer, but it pissed me off in the end >.<

I just went on a huge common spree. So right now my inventory is not at all organized. But I organize with drawers for everything. Then I do the whole rainbow colour arranagement thing within the drawer. It's asthetically pleasing to me, that's it!! XD

If i click ALL ITEM, i would only have 3 pages. :XD
i organize them according to what they are. I have two drawers where i keep my CIs and EIs separate from my commons. ^.^; yeah that's how i do it. i dont have a lot of commons anyways so organizing my inventory like that works fine for me.

I have 842 items right now, 9 pages altogether xD

Though not all of those are mine, I do have a friend's things in a seperate drawer which accounts for 104 items. I've got 14 drawers for my own stuff, which I sort depending on a combination of item/where they're equiped, depending on how many I have of them. For example, I have a drawer for tops, but if that ever goes over one page them I'll split it into long and short-sleeves and so on. Within the drawer I'll group re-colours of the same item together so they're easier to find. But I don't have any OCD issues so I don't group things by colour or anything like that.

I only like to have things in my 'main' inventory that I see to be things I'm going to be wearing with my current outfit. I might want to change my earrings, or mix up my color combination - but it's all going to be around this one base outfit I like, so I'll keep those things where I can see them. But, due to Events and occasional buying of things that don't match after all or something like that, I've got more things than I want to wear 'right now'. Like, HOW DID I GET SO MANY SHOES????

Let's see.... My 'out of sight' drawers are:
~ Rares (CIs and EI's together)
~Accessories
~Shoes
~things to sell? (for the 'oops' purchases, and extra EI's)

And I'm probably going to have to make one for regular clothes in the next six months, just for all the different colors of shorts and skirts, or other things that I'm not going to wear often but are part of their own outfits and such.


~If there's one thing that makes this Inventory better than other places, it's the ability to customize my own organization. I love this freedom~! I'll probably continue to add drawers as my inventory grows, to accommodate my OCD'ness.

I use the drawers feature. I'm glad that we can finally organize items within the drawers, although now that the feature is here, I realize that I don't really use it. xD;

I arrange them according to layers. Because arranging them by color would be hard. There are lots of different colors and some items have two major colors. Then what do I do? Leave it the main inventory? Nah, it'd get clogged up too fast. Make another catagory named Blue/Red? No, I'd run out of drawers.

Out of curiosity I checked the all inventory tab...I have 13 pages of inventory. Needless to say I use drawers. I have them set up in: Make up, Hats/masks, hairpins, jewelry, underwear, shirts, sashes/scarves, coats/surcoats, pants/skirts, socks/stockings, shoes, accessories, gloves, handheld, pets, multi items, and backgrounds. I want to switch up the shirts, since I've made two pages on there, and I'll probably split the pants and skirts up too. >.> I like everything to be organized. xD When I make an avi I just go down the drawers until she looks the way I want her to.

for your polls sake: I have 1281 items. Only one is a duplicate that I have yet to send to my mule. :3

I have 1026 items with no duplicates (as far as I know). That's 11 pages of inventory.

I use 20 drawers, 21 if you count main inventory.

Mah drawers

The main inventory is used for items that I haven't quite decided where they fit yet and multi-equip items that go on multiple parts of the bodies.

My drawers mostly designate where the item is worn or what type of clothing it is--tops, bottoms, shoes, and then arms, legs, head. Then I have the CIs and EIs in their own drawers.

My drawers have gotten more and more complicated as I've bought more stuff. For example, I used to have an Accessories drawer. Now the items from that drawer have moved into Neck, Arms, Legs, Face, Waist, and Handhelds. Also, I used to have a Stockings and Socks drawer. Now I have Stockings 1, Stockings 2, and Socks. Stockings 1 has the lowest level of stockings (the ones that don't layer over anything), Stockings 2 has stockings that layer over Stockings 1, and Socks has the socks, which includes the big tall argyle socks that look like stockings but layer over both of the stockings layers.

The drawers themselves are organized by type and color. Type is basically what kind of item it is and how it fits. Take my Head drawer. It has hair clips, headcerchiefs, hats (basically organized by how similar they are to each other), sideways hats, headbands, tiaras, and my headphones. I just try to group items by similarity. The same can be seen in Bottoms, where I have long skirts, short skirts, ambiguous skirt/waist items, pants, and shorts by length.

I usually color code different versions of the same item in this order: Black, Gold, Silver, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, White, Brown. I didn't always though, and I haven't quite gotten around to rearranging some of the earlier stuff.

My CIs and EIs are in order of when the item came out. My EIs have actually just wandered onto two pages (there's one item on the second page) which drives me nuts, so I may further separate them later.

My on hold drawer I didn't count because it's not actually in use. I put items to be traded or doubles there while they're waiting to go somewhere else. It's currently empty.

The drawers themselves are in order along the side by basically where on the body the items go, starting at the head and working their ways down to the feet, with CIs and EIs last.

Within my drawers, I mostly only bother to put recolors next to each other. But in some drawers I've taken the trouble to sort of group similar items together... I'd rather not explain how I've got some of these groups together as I'm sure it may make me sound far more horribly obsessive-compulsive than I actually am. >_>;

I have over 1,000 items, but I'm not sure how many of them are unique items as I buy Contribution Items and collect Event Items and keep them on my main rather than sending them to my mule like many people seem to.

Wow. I totally feel small now. :XD But I guess it makes sense...sooner or later I'll probably end up having that many items too and I'll definitely have to make drawers for them by then :(

Reading through all of the posts is very helpful, since I really lack in organization and need advice on how to sort through everything...:sweat:

Fading: I can tell you that I wouldn't be able to survive without drawers. I can barely survive when my drawers get more than one page, which is why I keep making additional drawers. If I didn't have drawers, I'd never be able to find anything.

But there are people with more items than me who organize entirely be color with only the one drawer, and are perfectly fine. I think it's mostly personality and what works for you, though I do always like to see what other people do since sometimes they come up with ideas I wouldn't have thought of.

CK: Where do you put tattoos and makeup? Those are in the skin drawer for me.

For now I'm just using the ones that are free...haven't made one with the 25g yet since I'm running low on gold at the moment. Made one for EIs, one for CIs, and one for Extras (where I can sell them someday in the future)...the Main Inventory's going to be for my Commons. I'm still in the process of sorting them all out, I forget what are EIs and what are CIs sometimes @[email protected] *has the Price Guide thread open on another tab to check*

I have 1617 items, which is 17 pages in my inventory, no duplicates. Needless to say, I have a bunch of drawers. XD

Tops, Bottoms, Hats/Hairpins, Shoes & Socks, Accessories, Items, Tattoos/Makeup, CIs

Each drawer is sorted by color, and then by type of item. XD For example, my tops drawer goes in color order, then each color is sorted by: bras/bra-type tops, middrift tops, corsets, sleeveless tops, short sleeved tops, long sleeved tops, sleeveless dresses, other dresses, capes/cloaks.

I have only three measly drawers, if you count the "Main Inventory" page as a drawer.

Main Inventory = CIs arranged by release date, EIs arranged by release date, and my two SNGs
Commons = My commons, arranged by type (kind of) - I haven't bothered to arrange my new stuff
Extras = All extra sets of CIs and EIs, also arranged by release date

if i had more than two items i would arrange them by colour. i like having a nice rainbow of items to look at.

I put face tattoos in the "Head Accessories" drawer and tummy tattoos in the "Waist Accessories" drawer. XD I'm not sure if I'd ever get tattoos that went anywhere else. Though I'm sure as soon as I say that, the pixelists will produce something that makes me grabby-hands. XD

My Shoes/Boots drawer has reached two pages now thanks the event. I'm cringing and trying to decide whether or not to separate that drawer somehow - but I don't have enough boots to do it that way (it'd just become two pages of shoes before long anyway).

I hate the idea of more than one page in my drawers. D< But I know that if you put too many drawers in it becomes difficult to move things into their proper drawers without temporarily re-arranging the drawers so you can move things into them. Irritating. >_>;

Wow...you guys have been here forever. Imma newbie, so I don't even have ten items yet. I'm close though, I have eight. I wonder if I'll ever have as many as 500. ...Dang. O . O"

Yeah...Been here for four months and only have a little over 100 items xD I think it'll be a year before I'll get more than 500 o__o;; My inventory will no doubt be in even more chaos when the time comes xD

I didn't buy any commons at all for my first half a year on the site, and I didn't get many commons until about half a year ago when I started participating in an Avatar Chat thread called Project Mene. Then I started accumulating commons like crazy.

CK: Makes sense. The arm tattoos could go in arm accessories too.

I'm slowly getting my commons count up, but I have 3 drawers: CIs, EIs, Future Charity. I use the Main Inventory for commons and then arrange that by colour. :P CIs and EIs are in order of release; earliest to latest. The Future Charity drawer is how it sounds; items for a future charity I want to start. It's empty right now, but I plan to have lots of commons in there and then a few EIs and CIs when I can get extras. ^^
