Its exchange/marketplace and the artshops.

Mene has wonderful, talented artists, this I do not deny. But with an exchange that is barely active, I just can't fund my art whoring ways. T_T

I tried to sell a lovelipop, in the hopes it would bring in more funds to buy art...but no one seems interested and those who are, offered more items for me to sell...it's hard to sell stuff as it is. T_T

It wasn't this slow from what I remember, I mean I go on several long hiatus, but back then, it was easy for me to find buyer and seller for the things I want. Is it only me, or the exchange is becoming less and lesser active?

One of the other thing that concerns me is the various people who are now banned here in Mene. Just reading through the first page of this thread, I saw Gabriel banned. Wasn't he a mod here before? It's the same in my b/s thread, there were 2 members who are also banned. Though I am personally not their friend, it just bothers me that some of the users I've seen from the start, who love this site(at least from what I've seen before things changed obviously), are now gone.

I wished they had a marketplace here on Menewsha, I know they are trying to keep the focus off the gold some by keeping the site's features of gold down to a minimum but it is difficult to sell anything and that's one thing about Gaia I like minus the two percent tax they had put it to try to put a dent in the inflation problem of so much gold going into the economy. Now that it is soooo easy to make Gold on gaia, the two percent mareketplace tax really is almost nullified especially by that booty grab feature you know?

Yes - there's a discussion about how the Valentine's 2007 items (and similarly rare items) are trouble to sell here:
http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...worthless.html

You might actually attract the talents of talented artists by offering the pop as payment to them. ;) And just make sure that what art you get in return is worth the value of the pop to you. :3

The Exchange is slow right now, agreed. But hopefully that will pick up soon.

Gaia is... prettier. Visually I like it better. Gaia however has become more "Give me your money" and less "support our site". Admitably they do put the money into the gaia comunity, but they push too hard. From what I've seen of this site (only a few days), it's friendly. If I had to pick, Menewsha wins. (Quality over Quantity!)

The quality here is much better especially when it comes to the forums and the moderators here and also the fact that this site is not sold out to commercialism.

I too am a gaia user, and although i have just joined this site, i feel like i can tell a very big difference. It has a more relaxed feeling where as gaia is a big jumble of mess all of the time. D;

lostvampgurl 08-26-2010 11:01 AM

ive been on gaia for a while and when i first came here it did seem like gaia even though it is very different. i think mene is a great site but you cant realy compare them to one another.

Safiah 08-27-2010 03:58 AM

I was on Gaia for a long while, but after a time it just got...old. Their forums terrified me and I NEVER posted a single thing. The only thing I liked we're the outfits and how many items they had. Once I found tektek and could make avatars with all the items without having to spend ridiculous amounts of gold the appeal of Gaia fell away.
I prefer mene's avatars way more than Gaia's now. They're so pretty and the styles are amazing XD Not to mention once I got over my initial shyness I actually *gasp* post on the forums, and I love that there is no bumping, no spamming, and no begging. Also as everyone has said they actually see and talk with the moderators of the website. They're useful and helpful and genuinely nice people.

Gaia has obviously gone down hill. I've been on that site since late 2005 and well, it's not what it once was. I understand that funding and donations from users are important but I hate to say that Gaia is becoming greedy. There are hardly any gold shop updates anymore, it's all about EIs and the Cash Shop. The pixel quality of the gold shop items has gone down in recent years and there have been lots of staff changes. Mods abuse their powers more often and some users have been unfairly banned because of it. They're economy has gotten out of hand. It's ridiculous. But in a way, it appeals to lots of people because it's been around for awhile.

Menewsha, being only 3 years old, has a long way to go. Depending if the owners become money hungry or not, the site could become level to what Gaia is. But hopefully the staff and owners wont become as corrupt.

:D

Ive had a gaian account for maybe 2 years Im pretty new to this place but Its a little more confuzing here then gaia Sorry to all you people but I dont like the snobby Jerks in gaia that call people noobs and such cuz they were noobs before..but people here are way nicer :3 thats all i gotta say :D

Izzy Stizzlebonk 09-01-2010 08:52 PM

I like Gaia's setup, but the people on the forums scare me. I thought I'd give this a try, 'cause I heard the people here are friendlier.

hillary84 09-11-2010 01:02 AM

I like both sites. Gaia has a fanthread of my favorite show that I don't want to miss. But here the atmosphere is friendlier and I feel comfortable to post more often.

Marshmallow Tea 09-11-2010 03:33 AM

Well, I've been on Gaia for 4 years now, but I can't really say because I've just stumbled across this site. However, I am begining to lose interest in Gaia, so hopefully Mene will prove to be more entertaining. ^^

Boom! 09-11-2010 10:16 AM

I tried out Gaia once, but I got bored of it after a day. I have a feeling I won't feel the same about mene :D

IceAngel 09-11-2010 01:15 PM

I'm new here, but I think gaia is a bit more interesting.

xoxoHan 09-11-2010 08:01 PM

I have an account on Gaia. I do like it, but Mene is better. :') Gaia is a bit confusing for me xP

Rotality 09-12-2010 08:42 AM

Personally Gaia, solely for the fact they have more active threads and more updated avatar pixels.

Oh, and I don't like the games on Gaia. And you have to buy nice hair. :(

Xai 09-12-2010 05:54 PM

As a whole, I don't mind Gaia. But the community is full of spammers and trolls, and because of that I wouldn't go in any of the forums. :/ It felt like the only people I could talk to seriously were those in a guild or in the charity forum. I quit because of that. Then, because of the pretty new items, I went back. And then a few months later I quit again for the same reason. xD The pixels keep pulling me back, but the community keeps pushing me away. It's a love-hate relationship.

g0ldfish 09-15-2010 12:47 AM

I like both, but Gaia truly changed since I joined.
It became like a money making place.
Here it's a smaller place with nice members.

Forsaken Eyes 09-15-2010 04:19 AM

Menewsha is 1000000 times better than Gaia, at least in my opinion. But who knows, maybe one day i will switch for awhile. I tend to hop back and forth between avatar communities. So i really hope I'll manage to stay here :D

I think almost eveything on Mene is better than Gaia, but I'm not going to go through all that because it has all been said a million times on this thread. The only one thing that made leaving Gaia a little difficult was the items. I really liked the variety so that you could really personalize your avatar. Mene has some nice items, but-- there just arent enough for me. But I'm sure over time that collection will grow, with the events and CIs....

Cannabis Brownies 09-15-2010 08:22 PM

I've been on this site for a total of twenty minutes and I'm frustrated as all hell!
I actually wasn't looking for this site.
I typed in gaiaonline and it took me here!
At first I thought gaia changed the layout but then I read the address bar.
It looked cool so I signed up.
I dunno...
This place seems more grown up than gaia but for me it's a little too...blah and I haven't really gotten to understanding the gold and shop thing.
Honestly, I'll probably log out and forget I ever made the account and not come back.
Not trying to offend anyone I do it a lot with websites.
Just like IMVU and meebo or whatever.

Ohhh, I wasn't typing in the actual reply box...
This is just a quick box.

Hatake Ayumi 09-15-2010 08:23 PM

xD
You actually replied.
The quick box just has less format options readily seen.

Cannabis Brownies 09-15-2010 08:27 PM

Holy crap!
Yeah...
There's a lot of crap in the reply box.
Well, I gonna try giving this place a chance and reading the TOS and such.
Probably what I should of done first but I work backwards.

If anyone could like....PM or something and explain to me a little bit about this place and how it works that would be great.

Hatake Ayumi 09-15-2010 08:28 PM

xD
Sure, why not.
/starts working on the pm

B A B Y C O C K 09-17-2010 03:16 AM

Let's just say different people have different opinions.
So I'll vote on both.
Gaia has its good and bad side.
Menewsha has its good and bad side as well.
