I prefer Menewsha. I like the items better. It's cheaper, even though you don't get gold just for going to a different page or shaking trees in the towns. I only go on Gaia to talk to a person I'm currently type-palling. The only thing I prefer about Gaia is the bacon and bathtub item...only to make my current avatar on gaia.
Also, Menewsha isn't full of people going: "OMG CN U DONATE?!!!!!!1!!!!111" |
I love the games on here. I just wish it was a little easier to earn gold. I guess I was spoiled on gaia.
|
I just joined Menewsha today, but it seems to be a nice site so far. I think I was quite spoiled by Gaia's gold granting system though... I find it quite hard to earn gold on this site. I'll get used to it though. (: Besides that, I do think Gaia is a lot more interactive with their games and such, but like I said I am new to this site, so it will take some getting used to.
|
I am a hardcore Gaia addict. I have been ever since I started playing. I'm going to slow down for a while and give this site a try.
|
I agree with what some of the people are saying on here. I love Gaia, I really do, but I don't post on the fourms too often, because a lot of the members, though they're very young, are really rude, and talk down on you. It's annoying, and kind of takes away from the point of the site, to socialize. -shrugs- I've only been here since last night, and it seems people here aren't up their own butt as much as a lot of gaia users. I wont lie though- making gold on gaia is a little bit more fun. ^___^;
|
I wont ever stop using gaia because all my friends are there and I find the dressing up side of things a lot more diverse as well as the virtual environments that Menewsha seams to be missing. But I think I got hooked here faster than I did to gaia. Maybe its the classic arcade games!! :XD |
I like it better.
At first, I didn't. I joined a few years back when it was waaaay less active and I found Mene to be really, really slow. I was a reg on Gaia's GD so I was used to really fast paced forums. It was also difficult for me to make gold because there weren't really any good games (That number thing that didn't allow you to earn any gold anyway, and some chance thing that I was awful at.) and the forums moved so slowly that I just couldn't post enough. Compared to Gaia, I thought Mene felt a lot... er, stodgier? A couple of people were pretty rude to me and I didn't like that. But I thought the items and avatars were WAY better here, and I still do. I liked that the users definitely seemed more mature (Well, anything is more mature compared to the GD) even though it was slower. I definitely had to grow into and get used to menewsha. I didn't like the way Gaia was going. I think I really started to like Menewsha when I attended an event and users came out of their holes and I got to meet some great people. Events are still my favorite time to be around! I don't know if I would really say Menewsha is BETTER than Gaia, but they're different. I think Menewsha fits me better now than it did before and I prefer it. But other people like Gaia more, it seems to fit them more and that's fine. There are things that Gaia does better than Menewsha, and that's fine too. I like that the two are different. |
I started on gaia many a year ago and, though a lot of it was fun, I kept having problems with it and the people.
I only just started Menewsha, but it already seems a lot friendlier and more mature. Lately, gaia has been trying to outdo every other roleplaying or social networking site in the internet and it's getting pretty ridiculous and annoying, and Menewsha is so much more laidback and in my opinion it has much better games for goldmaking. Nice and old school. ^-^b |
I like both really
Meh...I like being in both places really. So I am.
Gaia has some very pleasant people if you know where to look. And I dunno, even if it isn't really 'realistic' I like it's avatars better then these ones. But ah, I like Mene too :3 People actually respond to me when I type here. |
I just joined this site fairly recently. I joined Gaia around 2004 and I hardly ever go on it anymore at all. It's really changed a lot over the years and not always for the better. I really like the avatars on this site better because they aren't all squished together and look more proportional to that of an actual human. I also like the fact that it is much easier to have conversations with people on this site. People seem to just post nonsense on gaia and only the first year I was on it did I actually talk to people. People only talk to you if you are popular and have a trendy avatar usually.
|
i put a lot into my account too and I'm sad i don;t use it any more. but the site became too much "pay for good stuff" and the forums became 4chan without the fun trolling and the porn, so i just went to 4chan. can't say i have any regrets, lol. i suppose i could say that I'm tiered of the immaturity, but you get that any where you go online. so at any rate i just pretty much don't care anymore.
|
i always go to my gaia account because i have wishes there and few close friends that i wanted to talk to... thats just all.
back then, making money in gaia seemed to be so difficult but as the site evolved,, it wasnt challenging to me anymore... i just get whatever i want... making money is so easy. and there are so many items that some of it am not familiar of. menewsha on the other hand is probably developing but it is fun especially that the mods are still active and the threads do have sense in them. though the games are not that quite catchy but i hope it will be developed in time. i like the designs of avatars and items here, its just, money is never easy to find which makes menewsha challenging. |
In my opinion, no, not really. I think it has the potential to be. And Gaia certainly has its problems but it's still more comfortable for me personally. To me, this is an auxiliary site, not my main. I'm mostly here for events. All my friends are on Gaia and Ernya. The couple of friends I brought to Mene with me when I first found it lost interest.
|
i've lost interest in gaia also.
they're making too much money and being greedy. plus sifting through spam is a pain in the booty! ^^ |
I like this site a lot better so far. I enjoy not seeing n00b speak all over every thread and I love the avatars and the items for them. I see a lot of things that are very similar to things on Gaia that I liked, so that makes me happy as well. ^_^ |
i started on gaia also, but i was only on there about say a month before i found this site, and it was a turning point when my aquarium died on gaia and the only way i could more fish in there was to put REAL money on the account. Same with the clothing. I mean my poor avatar on ther eis such a frump because even though the gold was easier to earn, i couldnt really get anything cute. Now on here i find it so much friendlier and quieter (somehow ^.^) and i like that. this site has a wonderful feel to it and im happy that i can look cute without real money lol

There are pros and cons to both sites, in my opinion.
Menewsha is definitely superior when it comes to conversation. I don't even go on the forums anymore on Gaia, due to the fact that I don't want to receive the painful eye-scars that accompany the act of trying to tear your own eyeballs out of their sockets after stumbling across an innocently-named thread that contains nothing but the most graphic pictures of mutilation and pornography (the latter of which is doubly disturbing for me, as an asexual). Gaia's got a one-up, though, when it comes to items available for avatars, and organization in shops. I also like the games over there a bit more (okay -- a LOT more), but all in all, I seem to be spending more time around here lately. Suffice to say, I do believe that Menewsha has what it takes to become all-around better. More games & a more organized shopping experience would take this site from a B+ to an A. |
me personaly, gaia is easier, to earn money.
and i am new to this so yeah. lol |
I'd like to just throw into the conversation that you don't "earn" gold so much on Gaia, as it's handed to you for nothing a lot of the time. On here you have to actually earn your gold rather than just gain it by wandering around and so on so for me, that comparison doesn't really count.
I know you can earn 75 for just posting an emote for your first post of the day on Gaia, but, I can state from personal experience a deep dissatisfaction in Gaia's gold earning system. Back when I was still active on there I'd find that I stopped earning gold for posting before I'd done everything that I wanted to do on my main account. I'd have to switch to my mule to be able to finish responding to the new threads in the various guilds that I belong to, and still get some gold for my posts. That's what I've never really understood about Gaia, their gold-earning system seems to actively encourage spamming to me. They hand out the stuff for doing nothing, but seem to punish the people who actually want to converse. It used to deeply frustrate me anyway. Say I'd got into a conversation in a guild, and with every post the gold I'm earning is going down and down and down, until in the end I'm making 3 or 4 paragraph responses and only getting 1 gold for it because I 've used up my quota of decent gold-earning for the day. Sometimes I'd get no gold at all, how can that be fair? So I LOVE our system, where you can talk all day long and there's no earnings drop-off. |
I have to say that I am really starting to fall for Menewsha.
To make my life simple, here is a list of my reasons why I like Menewsha better than Gaia: 1. I have been part of Gaia since 2004. Now when I log on, all of my friends are gone. I feel ancient. I cannot even navigate that site anymore. I liked the old Gaia. 2. Menewsha does not have spamming. Thank God! Okay, so I will own up to Bumping as a newbie on Gaia, but now that just bothers me. I used to make huge posts in role-plays and see someone bump to get the same amount of gold. That is frustrating. 3. The cyber-sex. I HATE cybering on websites like this. If you want to cyber or get someone to cyber, do it somewhere that I won't have to read it. I also hate being asked to do it. I am really glad that is not allowed here. 4. The role-plays:It just seems more intelligent on here. I am not sure how to explain it. From what I can see there are less one-shots and threads called something like "girls stuck in a house! Boys sneak in!" I'm sure you know what I mean. 5. The avatars: I think the avatars are prettier and more user-friendly on here. I also love the options for clothing. I am extremely new here but I doubt any of this will be subject to change. |
I prefer Mene over Gaia simply because Gaia just.... died for me... The DI's just kept getting crappier and crappier and anything worth looking at was in the cash shop for like $10. Not to mention the spam, the noobish begging, crappy Mods, etc.
|
I'm pretty neutral about both. I lost my passion in Gaia a long time ago but I had been a loyal member since 2004 so my declining interest is pretty depressing. At the same time my interest for Ernya's pretty low because of its multitude of rules. I understand they want to have a decent site, but some of the rules are a bit...ridiculous.
|
In my opinion, practically every avatar site is better than Gaia. Many of their items are grgeous, but the inflation is horrible. Not to mention it seems that all Gaia cares about is making money in the real world. I may be extremely new to the site, but I can already tell I will like this place better than Gaia. The avatars are better pixelled and are actually interesting to look at. I also like the gold system here. The fact that it's actually difficult to earn gold shows that it's worth more. |
My only problems with Gaia are the marketplace inflations and the staff not caring.
The staff there just ban people for no reason now. And they don't get involved with the community like this site does. Maybe it's because Gaia's user base has become very large over the years since I first joined back in 2005. In my opinion, Menewsha is a much better site when it comes to the staff and exchange. Even though I've only been here for a few hours, I can seee the difference. |
Im not actually sure yet :P
I've only just found this website but I'm currently not sure about whether or not it is better than gaia. I was forced to get of gaia as my laptop wouldnt allow entry somehow. I'm hoping that my time on menewsha will be worth while :P
