I just think people have gold, and before some people might not of had it, so they donated to get the CIs, but with the marketplace, they could sell off stuff they don't use rather easily, instead of making a thread, talking to people, trying to get a sale... So it comes down to, well hell, I could spend my REAL money to get the items, but I just made all this shiney gold, and look how cheap they are? Might as well just buy them on here with gold.

I think everyone gets distracted >.< Because people could buy them on thje mp really easily they just did that.
Though i don't donate directly, I buy mine straight off someone so technically I donate $10 a month. |
I see. >__< I don't really know what we could do then. But I know the MP isn't help increase the amount of money donated to menewsha. It might help though, because people would donate and buy a million sets and then sell them in the MP. Maybe this months CI's weren't what a lot of people liked?
|
When were CIs selling for 2.5k before the MP came along D: I hate to suggest that's not accurate, as I never set foot into the exchange, but I was under the impression that people, in general, would not pay more that 1.5 for CIs, and the MP has increased the value. Considering the top prices some of this month's have sold for.
|
I saw that a while ago, but I will not pay 2.5 gold for one CI that was JUST released. Its crazy. each one is about 1-1.5k when they first come out then there value increases after a few months if the demand is higher for them. I wish people didn't like pricing stuff to high. I try to price stuff at a fair price, I don't get why others don't. XP

I apologize, I don't want to sound harsh or anything..I just don't understand... |
No, I don't. :/ I think its about 1-1.5k of my gold for each CI.
|
So, just to sneek in a bit, but YES the MP actually has increase prices for current CIs. Backround- I sell a shiz ton of CIs each month, and have been doing so for a while now. Normally, in the exchange, I could sell a CI SET for 2k. 2.5k would lift some virtual eyebrows, and I'd not be able to sell them. When I list the same set in the Marketplace, I get dramatically increased profits. In the beginning of the month I was raking in 1.6k an ITEM, making a tidy 3.2k a set, 1.2k more than before. Even now, at the end of the month, I'm averaging 1.3k an item, equaling 2.6k a SET, a 600g more than before the MP. |
That's great news Chunsa-chan! I have been wondering for a long time if the priceguide was artificially deflating prices, especially of CIs.
|
Well, cards on the table time maybe? I for one am totally convinced that the price guide was stopping natural inflation of items.
Simply because a lot of people treated it as the LAW, rather than what it actually is, which is simply a record of past sales. Many seemed to think the price guide dictated what future sales had to be. Which is totally screwy of course. |
Just wondering, if this month is getting to be the second lowest, when was the first and current?
|
I am curious about the first lowest too, unless it was the first month of CI's ?
|
The best seller ever was the Raven and Dove headwings.
The lowest was Hissy Fit and Bone Warrior, which only had a 6th of the headwings sales. |
WOW, that's a big difference. XP I thought last December's CI's were pretty popular, I thought a bunch of people donated to get them. D: Now I am not surprised that the month with the headwings was the one that got the most donations. Those wings were so pretty.

I try to make a point to donate every month if I can. I know there were some where I couldn't and others where I was able to donate $15 to $20. Honestly, I don't get how a new feature can have this negative of an effect on donations. Some crazy stuff going on with that. o.o;
With the price inflation/deflation, I've noticed that the current CIs are going for more than previous ones which I assume is due to the addition of the Market Place. I've also seen the prices of older ones (and ones that shocked me) drop to nearly half the price guide value. I could be slightly over exaggerating that but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. If possible, I'd donate more but money is tight. And to be honest, half the time that I do donate is when I have the option to use the money towards either some songs for my iPod or even a game. I just prefer to help out this site which is like my online home. Besides, those songs/games are always going to be there. |
I donate everytime I can, even if I don't like the items. I just sell them right away, then, but I know my donation goes toward helping the site. I just think people donate at the beginning of the month to get quick gold, but after they get their gold, they're done.
Right now, I'm saving my money for next month's items. :3 I'm gonna buy four sets. I had an idea about contribution event items...like if you donate during an event, you get a special event with your mennies. I don't know, it was an idea. As for people complaining about the cows, I'm a poor menewshan. I spend my gold as soon as I get it. But I managed to get a How Now. It really isn't impossible for the poor and those who can't save. Just saying. :P |
lol.
The reason why this new feature had an effect on the amount CIs bought is simple for me. The auctioneer was selling them for like 500g when I was easily getting 2000g for them previously. He was also the only one that was able to sell pre-sales for the new item. It became a waste of money in my eyes to donate more to get less for my quest and to compete for sales against an NPC is retarded. Not that my opinion of it alone was enough to effect the rest of the donations...but others HAD to be thinking it too. It ended up being corrected but it was too late, the damage was done. It's not like the old EIs I'm questing for went down in price. Only the common "rare" items that me, and everyone else is selling is. Which will make the rich richer and the poor poorer in the long run. Pushing us all further from those goals because the exchangers that do have multiples of those old items WILL wait for longer for us to get the gold. If you guys want more money, make a Cash Shop throw old event items in...pure profit. Or heck even add "commons coupons". So those of us questing for big ticket items can donate and help mene while getting some commons that way. Though that would mean 3 currencies and it might look messy in some peoples eyes, I don't think you can argue that it would give another way to get cash from us. After the initial programming of the feature and deciding how many coupons each item should cost you won't be making new items just offering an alternative way to get older ones. So you'd make money off commons you put such hard work into and you could see how much we really DO value your hard work on commons. I could see myself donating another $25ish a month to build on my commons while still saving for the higher end items. Or just buy gold like you can on a lot of other sites so you wouldn't have to deal with the third currency. OOOOoo! I just had another idea! COMMISSONS! Basicly for people that would pay X amount for erm lets say a cucumber or hula hoop. Let them give you the cash it would take to commission your artist for it then put it up under a tab in the Cash shop for others to buy as well. For commissons they would have to be Mene friendly (do dildos or other stuff you guys figure is to racy) The price could be very high on these commissons like say $500. Way over what it would actually cost to make but they're also paying for the fact that they are getting their item bumped up in the que and featured. And maybe only do one Commison a month or something so it won't overwhelm the artist staff. |

That might be a valid suggestion actually. Or, maybe it would be if events still ran the way they used to, I'm not sure how receptive people would be now that events are less fancy in the interim before the new style arrives. The reason I say it's a valid suggestion is because events are another black hole for money. The coded ones cost around $3000 to produce because of the coding itself and all the commons. But the site never recoups that money. So an item available only for cash during an event could be a possibility. But...then you'd have a very big issue with rarity, AND...monstrous amounts of complaining from people because of that. Either because they were offline for that week and couldn't get the item in the first place, and because it was only available for a week not many would be sold, so the value would skyrocket exceedingly fast. THAT is where the complete hypocrisy of avatar sites would rear its ugly head.
Such is life, huh? |
As long a people know about that item threw donation and it wasn't tacked on later I don't see that being much of a problem. Like if it was presented in a Cash Shop and not donate X amount during the event you get it.
*really wants a Cash Shop* |
And maybe if the items were available other ways during the events, too...like contest prizes and such.
I'm actually surprised about how much I like this idea. XD But it really was just an idea that popped into my mind just randomly as I typed. Nothing that was well thought out...and I'm really clueless when it comes to economy and such on the site. |
Well really, why should you as a user have to have your thumb on the pulse of the site's economy?
For you guys it should just be about hanging out here and having fun, you shouldn't need to worry about the cashflow, that's our job, and we do it well  There just comes a time, once the balance sheets slump enough, where we have to share the misey :ninja: |

500g? What are you talking about? Those were auctions, and they did NOT end at 500g. http://www.menewsha.com/marketplace/...p?itemid=10012 Average 1,496g http://www.menewsha.com/marketplace/...p?itemid=10011 Average 1,474g Combine the averages, and you'll realize that sets were selling for an average of 2,970g, which is a bunch more than 2,000g. The marketplace has increased the value of new CI's, not decreased them... |
...2000g was per ci not set  4000 was what sets were for.
the lowest sale was for 300g for an auction put on by the auctioneer. There WERE auctions that ended at that or it wouldn't be a lowest sale. |
I'm not sure why the auctioneer was selling the CI's, it made them more like a common, available without having to spend any real money. All those CIs released by him are ones that are now not being paid for with cash...
