this thirty-five pound puppie was betting beaten up by five little puppies
so I was trying to get the puppies to 'sit' and she SAT and would not move
I watched her for like five minutes and I made a hand gesture for her to come to me
she did and has never left my side. the pet shoppe owner was trying to find a good
home for her for a friend who had lost his job and couldn't afford to feed her and kids
so I said I would take her home with me because I couldn't see her with anyone else.
she is a blue heeler/springer spaniel mix and very loving. she herds the kitties

Love stories that have a fun start like that! Gotta build those relationships with the pets somehow. And the fact that she herds the kitties is pretty funny.

I visited him (bringing a diff family member each time) for the 4 days they were open before his time was up. lol, and it was all first come, so nobody else was actually there for him that morning. but everyone though lots of people wanted him (pretty sure they were mostly me...on diff days)

I wonder why they would make you wait...unless it was to allow someone the chance to claim the pupper?

Naisou 02-20-2017 04:27 AM

yeah, since he was picked up on the street, but did have a collar on. so by law they had to wait a week to see if anyone would come to claim them as theirs. but honestly I think he'd been on his own for a while. Poor thing was scared of squeaky toys at first, which the ankle biter took to torturing him about. He got over that fast though.

one of the ladies that worked there got so used to me she taught me to open the pens and would let me get him out myself if they were busy, lol. and when I had to bring him back to get neutered she was like 'I know your not here to give him back already' lol.

both of my other dogs just kinda landed in my lap, didn't have to work for them. the jack russell was going to be put down the next day and the woman brought her to us like 'please take her, I don't want to have to put her to sleep' so we did

I was trying to get a job at the local rescue and they asked me if I had any problems with euthanasia and I said, 'why would I have any problems with the 'youth in Asia!'
she giggled at me and explained what she meant and I cringed. she heard me gasp.
she told me she didn't think it was a good fit for me and I agreed.

Sure thing. :D

'youth in Asia!' lololol

and yeah, I wouldn't be able to handle euthanasia either. Unless of course the animal was in incurable pain or something, but just because the shelter was full, couldn't do it. A few of the shelters in my area are no kill, but it gets hard for them financially to support all the animals/room is hard. luckily they have a large group of people who foster animals in their homes until they get adopted.
If I worked at a pound I'd also want to adopt like...everything..lol

wow. I know how that is. yuki-san didn't know how to play at all.
imagine a kittie not knowing how to bat around anything.
it is sad how people mistreat or ignore pets

Squeaky toys are horrible, never been a big fan of them. Glad he got over the aversion to those things.

Can feel myself slowing down. Might be time for a shower, wake myself up a bit. Or [headdesk] could wake me back up.

Pretty sure it's hard on lots of people, Hummy. [hug] We need to find you a job at Santa's Toy factory.

Naisou 02-20-2017 04:36 AM

while he was scared, gypsy would hold a squeaker in her mouth, stare Moose down, and just chew....so it kept squeaking. He literally threw himself against the couch in terror. kinda funny for being so sad. Moose now single mindedly tears stuffed animals apart at the seams.

Kenome-Chan 02-20-2017 04:40 AM

I know maybe it was a saving grace for me since I already have two kitties, one puppie and one ebil birdie

Kenome-Chan 02-20-2017 04:44 AM

I bought my cat Pumpkin a collar with a bowtie on it.

Queen_Andais 02-20-2017 05:04 AM

Feeling rather refreshed after my shower. And now my cousin is hitting me up on Facebook trying to find out what is happening with our sister. *sighs* Nothing like your sibling's sanity taking a long walk off a short pier to bring your family together. [headdesk]
