If Menewsha ever re-released Contribution items...

Mostly out of curiosity, I've seen sites that re-release the items, I personally like it and don't like it:

Likes:

-It helps the new users, so they can get the items they want.

-Causes deflation which is good, in my opinion.

Cons:

-Not fair for the people who took so long to aquire them.

-Users expect something new, mostly oldbies, then seeing them re-released.

Discuss:

Would you like for items to be re-released? Or re-colored?

Would you think it happening, would ruin the economy?

This is not going to happen, at least that I know.

King 06-03-2007 10:12 PM

It would ruin the economy right now. Though, it would help the community. Although, I worked hard raking 8.5k to watch people get a crown for a few hundred gold.

Vixen with a Vendetta 06-03-2007 10:14 PM

I don't think it should happen.

HOWEVER
I think there should be a Moderator Market (I had suggested this to Mike a while back) where the items from permanently banned accounts are taken by the mods and sold for the current market value (That way it's not promoting inflation/anti-inflation) So it would be like re-releasing the items without the actual action of doing so.

Also having newer versions of items is nice. Like you said, recolored or a slightly different style.

If they did re-release them. It would mess with the economy pretty badly and it probably wouldn't be very fair to the users that had to pay a bunch of the item just for it be released a month later.

Ayx 06-03-2007 10:15 PM

Exactly, that's why I was curious if Josh had ever think about re-releasing them.

@Valedia:: Yes, I believed it wasen't going to happen though. Not sure, I don't remember well. But I also approve of that.

Sort of like what the police do.

For example, your a drug dealer, your belongings such as car and home furinature get repossesed, and then sold off in auctions, and the money gained is used to support the force.

Not exactly the same, but the general idea is similar.

XD

A lot of good stuff is sold off in those police auctions too. XD

  • I've seen items re-released and it really depends on how popular the item was. If there were only few in circulation, then I wouldn't mind if they were re-released.
But what ticks me off is when there were quite a few in circulation and are very popular. They're re-released for the owner's benefit of gaining more money. ><
As far as re-colored though, I really don't mind it at all. I love seeing more color variation! <3

Thank you for your imput guys. <3

I wouldn't be fond of that, since it also promotes the thought I'm buying items that may not be illegit.

Edit: As for the thread, I only have one word; "parodies".
I'd love it more if instead of rereleasing their Contribution Items, they should create parady versions of it that aren't the exact item itself, but a knock-off that is still likible, without being too different or too similar.

Ayx 06-03-2007 10:59 PM

Mind giving an example? I'm tired and can't think of one at the moment. >.<' I do know what your talking about though.

 @ your sig. xD

  1. The best example, I guess, would be Gaia Online?

How they released their Portable and Studio DJ Headphones in July 2003, and later released the Angelic Microphone in 2006 which had a less appealing Headphone position.

Ayx 06-03-2007 11:05 PM

Ohh~ Ok. Yeah that would be better, I like that. And it was in August 03, July was the Panda and Grizzly hat. :3

Satan 06-03-2007 11:11 PM

  1. Really? I only thought it was July since the Panda and Grizzly Hats went for more. But either way, I love knock-offs.

Ayx 06-03-2007 11:11 PM

Same here. ^.^

They also had the Mini UFO headphones.

XDDD

*cough* Going a bit off topic... >_>

Not entirely. x-x
But the fact it's about Gaia isn't exactly desirable in a Menewsha Community subforum...

So knock offs of the current contribution items?

Like maybe different looking scepters in the future perhaps?

Ayx 06-03-2007 11:23 PM

Really? O:

My apolegies Otohime. ^_^

Satan 06-03-2007 11:23 PM

  1. I think another decent idea would be that if they did decide to rerelease Contribution Items, Don't make it so they have to contribute to the site to get them. Like a completely different method that doesn't limit them based on their quantity.

I guess an example would be Gaia's quest system. (Why do I keep using Gaia as an example? :/)
How they discussed that they might rerelease Monthly Collectible items through it, but will make the users who want them work harder for them so that it doesn't effect the community too much.

Ayx 06-03-2007 11:27 PM

Well, that;s why users and developers sell them, sometimes. XD

((Lol, I don't know. xD))

but I do mean re-releasing as a contribute way. ^_^

I like that idea!!

i have wondered in the past what happens to the items of banned accounts, ESPECIALLY when a lot of the banned people lose their accounts for offsite trading and have V-Day goodies moldering away for eternity..

Val may i suggest creating a post in Sitefeed back and suggesting this again?

You know why I don't bother making suggestions.

jellysundae 06-04-2007 12:04 AM

Don't be defeatist! this is a very good idea!

Vixen with a Vendetta 06-04-2007 12:05 AM

Well I have to go now, if you're really interested in it, drop me a PM and I'll reply to it tomorrow along with some other things I had in mind lately.

King 06-04-2007 12:06 AM

I know this one guy (well somebody else) who was banned. They had a huge amount of Crown sets, and V-Day sets.

jellysundae 06-04-2007 12:06 AM

ok, bye bye :)
