Because this is about deflating, and if they just sell it for more, I don't think they should be allowed to participate again.
If someone were to do that, I would not let them bid on any of my auctions now or later or ever. ^^ <3 That would be a person that is bidding for an unworthy reason and thus an unworthy person of the specified item.

Neyor, again we have to realize that SOMETIMES it's going to be very hard to give it to the right person. However since the amount of my items is very great, the likelyhood of it going to the right person goes up. You have to remember that these items would have normally just been left on a banned account rather than someone really deserving. So in the end, while it may go to a bad person, it will eventually get to those who deserve it.

Tre, I am still debating with myself whether to perfectly split the sales of the items between the two people. It really depends on the bidding itself. If I find that people with no items getting lots of bids, then I will lengthen the no bids auctions. However if they taper off, I will do it sooner.

That sounds about what I figured.

As for your response to Tre, I think that the half and half thing is something that doesn't really need to be disputed. There are several thousand users on Menewsha who don't have the items, and I think that if anything the auctions should really be more aimed towards them. If you do happen to slow down in bids from them, that's when you should open the auctions to those who already have the items. And I don't think you have thousands of Valentine's Day Items or Crowns.

aries.. what if we happened to resell the item or offer it for a bigger item in the future.. like 3 or more months form now.. like without it being intentional.

The point of this is supposed to give questors items they really want. If they should resale this item that they really want, then they don't really want the item and thus should not buy anything from me. ^^

  • I think this whole.. raping banned accounts is a terrible idea. I really don't understand the point of it. While yes, it's nice to have access to the items again, I think it was gone about in a very unprofessional way.

Ah we didn't necessarily "rape" banned accounts per se. The situation with this entire thing was rather abnormal and will not be done again.

You see, the economy previous to this auction was completely nuts. I have not changed the prices from what they were earlier. The inflation of the v-day items was completely ridiculous and due to mainly this grand horde that this particular offsiter had.

I have not taken any items from any banned accounts, but I cannot say how specifically I came to get these items. These are spoils from an offsiters trade. I say that these items would have rot on banned accounts because if we caught this person, many items would have been locked up.

If you have any more questions, please PM me and we can discuss them further.

  • -luffs on everyone- Thanks for the answers and different points of view. <33

    And you're very right Aeris, in the end mostly deserving people will get an item that they wouldn't of been able to get otherwise, regardless of the few that try to resell. <33

I've been looking at the auction thread in the exchange...can someone tell me why users add gold to their bids when no one is outbidding them?

For example a user bids 5k, then a few days go by and no one else bids on that item and the same user then posts that they are adding 1k to their bid and the bid is now 6k.

This doesn't make any sense to me...the point is to deflate items. If there is no one else bidding then why add the extra gold. Why not keep the extra in reserve in case someone does outbid you so you can comeback and outbid them?

so they are sure no one out bids them.

@ aries... well what if it was something like this... gaia itme examples

I had some DJs and ang minis and an ang sash... I have always wanted all of them... but have recently found out these are of equlivent of another itme I wanted the bunny slippers.. so I make an offer with these items and it gets accepted... would that be ok... but not like right after the auction happenes.. .... like if it wasnt just for profit.

Well lets say the person outbids another by having only 1g because it's all they can afford at the time. Making their bid larger helps them feel more secure about getting the item.

I really didn't think too much of it because eventually people will see how much items we have of it, they won't need to inflate them in such a way. Also, in comparision to the v-day item prices previous to this time, I would say they are pretty cheap.

Shaggy, that's why I specified "for profit."

I think I made a rather snooty post in there saying that anyone has a chance of obtaining a Valentine's Day item if they would just work for it and stop giving up so quickly DX

Well I'm not the type to want to spend that type of money on myself. I feel bad that I spent 1k to get my hairpin of hell and my clover pin. XD;;

So really, I never had a chance at those items. I never would WANT to spend that money on myself.

Edit: Even though I'd really want the item that is XD

I find it... almost disturbing that these items are from banned accounts. D: They are the ones that were here on time and got them in their hard earned accounts and gold, some for real money. How do we have the right to take them for granted in an auction? Even if those items are not going to be used ever again.... they should stay that way with their accounts, and not given away. We owe that to the people who owned those items first and put the work into them.

I understand on wanting to give more people the chance to get more of those hard to get items and so that we can lower the prices of the inflation. Don't get me wrong, that is good.... but don't let the morale go down with the prices of the once rare items that you're just recycling..... almost like garbage.... =_= The people bidding will take it for granted that they are able to get those items and won't think much of it... unlike the people whom were banned that WERE there when they were released and put the effort in to get it. Some people paid actual money for it.... and you're auctioning it off? >_>

Ok... I'm done ranting now. x_x;;

Actually, he was a member who joined long ago and exchanged and hoarded all these items to thus sell to other people who wanted the item. I know, I was there to see him buy all the items, ripping them away from people who were questing the items.

Also, these items are not being given away but sold for no profit - all the money deleted. So it's not as if I am flooding the market with these items. But we will never advocate offsiting EVER. And if they put so called "hard work" into getting these items, what they really did was manipulate our economy for their own gain. If the prices on the v-day items was really high, then he could sell the items for more and more money offsitewise. So with this entire hoard of items was not only ruining our economy, but forcing those avid questors TO offsite.

I saw the edit, just before.

And I want to emphasize the following point: no user, has EVER been rewarded for helping off site. Sure, they get the odd pat on the back for helping out should they do so, but it is not entirely encouraged either.

I emphasize again; no user, has EVER been rewarded for helping off site.

Nobody is preventing you from doing so either Vanity, so please do not assume the high ground over me for coming into the thread and setting you straight. You came in with many an assumption, which have been resolved; spreading rumor, allegation and misleading information is a misrepresentation of our staff.

Your question has been answered.

You are more than free to continue this discussion, I won't be stopping you; I, however, will be representing my fellow colleagues and making sure false information is not spread.
