Thread Contests
I recently made a thread but its hard to get random visitors to stop by. I thought making a contest would be a good way for people to show interest in my thread but I'm having trouble coming up with anything fun/original.
I'm not interested in doing an art contest or a 'be the first to such and such a page' contest. I have a prize, possible two. Anyway, I though you fine folks in CD might be able to help me come up with some good contest ideas. And who knows.. maybe someone else can use the suggestions here in their own threads as well xD |
Video contest....where they make a video about whatever....like pick a subject. Funniest video about a cow or something. It's fun and most people can do that. ^^

I once entered a thread on another site thats gimmick was "Make me laugh and you win such-and-such". It was interesting :]
Maybe a poetry contest? Or.. :O >> I'm sorry. I'm greedy.. I thought of a few good ones, but I think I'll put those in my pocket and save them for a day when I start up an attention-desiring thread. |
I don't like those "make me laugh" prize threads. The guy had a different sense of humor than mine and so after about 3-4 jokes trying to figure out what he thought was funny, his little friends in the thread began to call me "desperate" :? As if I had nothing better to do or something, so I left it.

hmm, see the trouble right now with having something like that here, is we don't really have a proper place for it.

I don't think they're going to make a contest thread specifically....they're looking for contest ideas to have in their already existant thread. :o

yeah, that's why i asked where the thread was..
i think we need a contest forum of some sort though, but i'm not sure we're big enough to warrant it yet though. |

I don't see that being a problem.
There is a line in the exchange rules that conversation has to be on topic, but to be honest i think that should be removed. The exchange is by far the most active forum on the site so it would be silly to enforce that rule and kill all the conversation. I know some people complain about it because their less active threads disappear, but some people complain about everything so there isn't much we can do about that. I'll discuss altering that rule with Kale when she's back from her holiday, but in the mean time feel free to run a contest in your thread. |
I agree with that jelly. In fact, I doubt a lot of the conversation on the site is on-topic -- except in CD/life issues/debates. I know art shops have constant off-topic conversation. B&C is the same way. It's not possible to stay on-topic in a lot of the forums.

Hrm, something like a scavenger hunt of the net? =O Using google or some other search engine, you give a different list to each person and see who comes up with the results first? xD; It might take awhile though. x0x;
