The rule which I'm not too fond of?
Quote:
Please note that if you are banned for any reason, you are no longer welcome on this site.
If you create another account and we identify you, you will be banned again straight away.
|
That rule is actually the one and only that scared me the most.
Totally get me into the -very careful to not even stepping on my own shadow whenever I walk around- kind of mood. ^^;;;;
I love Mene too much, if I leave someday I want to do it on my own free will and be able to come back whenever I can.^^
The possibility of a future where I could be kicked and never allowed to come back is too scary.
I don't mind the rule about people getting banned after receiving several warning for breaking rules,
but I don't like the -no longer able to come back to this site after being banned- rule.
I think they should be able to be given a chance to register under new account,
start fresh with nothing like brand new newbie, and maybe just put them under tight surveillance if needed. ^^;;
Now, for the rules that I love the most?
The -no spam, no brainless bumping, no unnecessary double posting, no massive amount of mules- rules. xD
And I know people hate this, but I actually like the "one thread per person" rule in the exchange. :P
It makes the place more like a real market and people gets to know each other (the neighboring shop-owners) much better and be a little bit more responsible to the thread they created.

The rule that bugs me most is the "if you get banned, you can never come back" rule. I can understand its purpose, but what if a user just wants a fresh start? Perhaps they decide that this time, they'll play fair. -shrug-
I'm also bothered a bit by the no repeats rule. The rule itself is understandable, but sometimes it seems to be way too strict. Topics that are of a similar subject or a different branch of a pre-existing topic get locked too, and usually they can spawn a completely different discussion.
I love the fact that flobs, or whatever they're called, are not allowed. It was SO fucking annoying to have to sift through the lyrics to three different songs and twenty icons just to find a post.
I also love the no double-posting rule. :3 Double posts make everything look so messy and UGLY.

To be honest, I don't like the "only one exchange thread" rule, my threads are dying because I posted in them and no one else is, I don't want to double post in it. Its really annoying. -____- I have something I wanna buy yet know one can check it out because I don't want to double post and get in trouble.
I don't know what rule I like really, all rules are good yet theres always someone who truly hates them but knows they gotta be there.

Ok, I'll go ahead and be out with it.
It's been on my mind several days. I'm not in favor of Menewshan rules, although I do my best to abide by them. I certainly do want to stay on Menewsha, but it's just that some of the rules I don't like. Like I was so scared to double post for my rules in my RP, but I did anyway because I was like, "Ok, they should accept this."
Does anyone else find the Menewsha rules unfavorable? At least one? Please don't be afraid to speak up, because I want to hear your opinions also.

I think there should be exceptions in different forums!
Like the RP you're talking about. Having started role-plays on other sites and such I know that new rules pop up as the RP moves along. After all you're never sure what will happen!
I don't mind the other rules though. They seem pretty fair - but I guess I haven't had problems that involve them!

Well, most are pretty fair, and they are there to help us with a nice forum experience, but I just think some of them are a bit too much. Everyone thinks something different I guess :\

Yeah but at the same time I'm glad they're there. Otherwise it'd be chaos.
I guess if they let too much slip people start complaining and it becomes chaos anyway!?

I really like having all of those rules. It makes things better in my opinion. It keeps people from spamming, which is one big thing. And I mean, if you have something to add, most of the time it works just as well to edit your post. Theres not really any rules that are that strict. I mean, its pretty much understood that you can double post when starting a thread. I mean, if it wasn't, then there would be a lot of art shop owners in trouble, myself included.
So I mean, with certain things there are exceptions. I wouldn't change the rules at all. I love having all of them ^^

There are a few exceptions to the rules.
With double posting, if you're making up the first page of your thread, you can double post.
Same with exchange. And if your exchange thread falls off the first page you are allowed to double post, on topic, to bring it back up to the front page.

-nods- Double posting is allowed when creating threads in general. And is allowed to bring up your thread if it's been a few hours since your last and it's been bumped down or off the first page entirely.
But unfortunately there is actually already a thread on rules.
Which is for talking which rule you dislike or like. So I'll be merging the two now.

I find this place has too many rules, it makes it hard to enjoy it here, for fear of saying or doing something that isn't a great sin, but what may offend or slightly be against a rule, especially in the matter of personal freedoms on here.

Once you get used to the rules, they are actually very good. Sometimes I'm scared that I might accidentally break them.. but it's okay. And now that the coding rule has been modified.. it's even better ^^

I think your referring to a case where people believe a person was banned unfairly when they weren't ^^; Normally, no you can't get banned for violating the sig size, you'd get a warning for a first offense, then an infraction if you do it again/ignore the warning
The only way you'd get banned, such as said persons case, is if you were already a previously banned user, and if you ignore the warning being sent to you or break the rule again after following the warning :sweat:
seriously, too many rumors go around and people believe what they want >.<;

I hear this all the time, and I don't understand it. If you take the time and read the rules, the odds go WAY down that you'll break them in the first place, and even if you do, first offense infractions are virtually nothing. They're 100 point infractions that expire after 28 days.

I actually like the rule against multiple mule accounts (more than 1)
I also noticed one rule with multiple accounts & 1 IP? What about 1 account & multiple IPs?
Only asking 'cause that tends to happen to me with a DSL router, plus I'll log on from other ocmputers from time to time

1 account and multiple IPs doesn't matter in the slightest. You have nothing to worry about there. The majority of people have an ISP that rotates them around any number of IPs. :yes:
