Well, it's true that I came during the time of the advert, though not because of it. And I am still somewhat active on Gaia, though not nearly as much right now. So, I find that true in my case.

I find nothing wrong in members being active in both websites, but you did make me take note that me being active in Menewsha pretty much stopped me being active in Gaia. By completely choice and preference, of course.
I have noticed a ton of Gaia mentions in signatures as of yet, but it hasn't bothered me. To each their own. As long as a member follows the rules here and can type properly, they could be from Jupiter and I wouldn't care. XD |
Admittedly, yes, I came from Gaia as I was rather tired of it.
However, I still do occasionally pop back over there for some fun. I've three very impressive accounts over there. The thing about Gaia is, the lack of a solid community, there really is no point in having your "awesome" items. Even with an Angelic Halo, you get no real respect - just admiration from people who can't afford one. |

What's wrong about being on both sites? They are alike, but they are still two very different sites, and I like them both. |
I think this is about Menewsha becoming gaia again, I mean I think you are ( as many Menewshans from the first wave) worried about if the place will now turn Gaia and how lovely it was when only people tired of Gaia used to be here and paid attention only to Mene and we lived a real change cause people were respectful literate and knew each other, but on the other hand, the community dies if we dont get fresh meat, i think the best plan is to make those newbies understand that this is not Gaia and to be here they need to adapt to the site and not the other way around. I think it is the best option for us "oldies" to mantain the place the way we like it.But I dont think that just because you come from Gaia and are still active there you wont be able to adapt and you are not welcome here.

I came during the advert wave. I first went to this site to see if it really was a ripoff of Gaia or not. I for one couldn't find evidence for this. If I need to explain what I think of all this, I'd say "Gaia and Menewsha are like two distinct species of the same genus; they might be same kind of communities, but they're very different from each other." And as other members put it, it would be arrogance on Menewsha's part if its members insisted that you have to give up on other communities to be a true Menewshan. This might feel like two-timing for those who are very loyal to Menewsha or any other avatar site out there, but being active on more than one avatar site should not be impossible.

I came before the Advertisement, but I'd been barely active on Gaia for ages before joining here.
The mentality has changed a bit, though. It doesn't really bother me unless comparisons are being made saying that this site is a mimic of Gaia. |
I'm fairly active on gaia. I found the link to here from there.
Would I want Menew to become like gaia, No way ... too many people hate gaia just because it has become such a giant. The only thing that I would want to see Menew do is make it a better place than gaia ... to provide a noob detector and either make them realize that if you talk in the stupid chatty language (like l33t or whatever it's call now) you should not be able to post. But the thing is, so many people are beating the system and even though they may agree to the ToS of mene and answer the pre-posting test correctly, they will just ignore it and continue with their stupid chatty selves. this so sounded better in my head ... |
^^" I'm one of those first people you mentioned. Mene was essentially the final push away from Gaia. Admittedly I had been drifting away for quite some while. I still get on sporadically, but then I usually read the announcements and get off. xD Or try to sell some of my terrible old items.

I came from Gaia - though I'm hardly active anymore, and I don't have any real friends on there either.
Menewsha seems nice to me so far (I tried Zantarni but there there was never anything to talk about, then it was flooded by topics you'd find on gaia, I think, bit unsure since it's been a while). I always find something to talk about here, and I'm glad the rules are so strict regarding spam. |
I've been here damn near since the begining and I have yet to give up being a Gaian, nor am i sick of Gaia. I love both sites.

Heh. I will never leave Gaia. I have way too much invested in the site to leave willy-nilly.
I have always been, and will always be a Gaian, but I am just as much a Menewshan anymore. I spend more time here anyway, even if it is just lurking around. Mene is like the B&C forum on Gaia (my home forum). Intelligent, friendly people that want to actually chat and get to know you. :D |
I get where Pearl is coming from. I joined Mene because I'd become disillusioned with Gaia.
It would be interesting to know how the newer users, who are active on both sites perceive the differences between the two sites. Because I rarely log into Gaia any more, when I do, the mindless bumping and spamming physically shocks me, i'm appalled by it, because I'm so used to our ways here now. So I wonder, if someone who splits their time between the two sites becomes influenced in their posting behaviour on Gaia, by how they get used to posting on here.. |
I as well, was tired of Gaia when I came here, but I didn't find out about Mene through Gaia.
I think I found out about Mene through Zantarni actually. So I was one of the few who didn't come from Gaia, I came through Zantarni. |
I came from Gaia.
I still quite active there, as I have a lot of really great friends there. But I've built up a lot of value on my account. And in a thread in the GCD someone mentioned this site. I thought the avatars were cute. So I decided to try building myself up from the beginning on a different site. Which is facing a bit challenging. I've never even seen advertisements for this site before. In fact, I hadn't even heard about it until it was mentioned in that thread. |
I came here because of the TekTek ad. I stayed here because while it was "similar" to Gaia, Menewsha "fit" me better as it wasn't so spammy and such.
I have a Gaia browser open at this moment. There. Click. Just got my lurking gold. But I almost never post there, at Gaia. Too many scams. Too much rampant greed. Too many threads about less than nothing. "Girls enter a forest. Guys - kiss, kill or save them!" For serious. It makes my stomach turn. I will play with Gaia just as often as I play at Menewsha. That will not change and I roll my eyes at you making it sound as if if I don't drop Gaia, I'm less welcome here than someone who participates on Menewsha exclusively. It's exactly like saying, "You can't be friends with her. I don't like her and you're my friend." Only stupider since you can't even monitor what my internet habits are unless you're a stalker. :) Click. More lurking gold. I've invested hours into Menewsha already. I've a running thread for freebie art. I never did that at Gaia because Gaia was so big and so greedy it would be like throwing my time and talent into a gaping pit. But I still enjoy the games, storylines, NPCs and items. So I'll continue playing with it. |
i got kinda tired of Gaia in August, and then my friend told me join, and i did. C: She's a friend off Gaia, but actually became really good friends. <3 So, i didn't come from Gaia directly, and i spend more of my time here then on Gaia. i just change my avy there, and post a few posts in my guilds so i don't get kicked out. xD |

And I'm an active Gaian. I love BOTH and I hope neither try to become one another (Let Gaia stay Gaia and Mene stay Mene!!) And it offends me SLIGHTLY that I can't be a true Menewshan if I don't quit Gaia. |
I joined a while ago and was still very active on Gaia when I joined.
A couple months after I joined Menewsha I got banned from Gaia actually. And that made me pretty sick of it, but I still frequent Gaia all the time. |
I think as long as the people from gaia remember that this site is different and should not be filled with the crap from there ...
I'm on gaia mostly because I'm stuck in the shops. I keep coming up with stuff and wanting to make it and sell it. I'd do the same here, but with me having two <active> logons for gaia and this now, I don't think that I could handle opening one here, -yet-. |
I came because the avi's were adorable and I'd always wanted to be an oldbie. And joining in April seems pretty old in retrospect. xD
But I'm still very active on Gaia as well, because none of my friends want to come to Mene with me. And if I left Gaia I'd have to get rid of my stuff, which would be way too hard. So I'm pretty happy splitting my time between both sites, since I never bump on Gaia, it's almost like the same thing for me. |
I told all my friends about Gaia cause the place we were at sucked ... nothing fancy just a thread site ... they love it and actually hardly get on anyways, so telling them to switch again really would just be more on their part ... (plus my one friend has a wedding coming up and i don't wanna bother her)
I love the avi's here ... they have WAY more potiential than gaia's does ... they are so small there :( |
To be honest, I came from Gaia, but I'm still on Gaia because I'm not naked on there. My friend, IRK3N, told me about Mene and I liked what I saw and thought: "Gee, this seems like fun, why not join?" And slowly I'm becoming addicted to it.

I'm not really addicted yet ... I joined today ... and i just feel like talking cause my threads on gaia are dead right now ... SO~~~ here I am.
