What makes you click here?

When you're just browsing the forums, what makes you motivated to click on a topic? Is is the pinkish orangish 'flag'? Weird symbols? Or just a topic that relates to you?

As for myself, I'm attracted to weird symbols, new topics, and humorous titles.
I very rarely click on a topic with over two pages, because I don't like skim-reading the posts just to stay on topic.

I go to the topics that look interesting to me. If they have new posts I am more likely to go too. I have a hard time finding any topics that interest me.

Jenn_heart 02-15-2008 10:26 PM

I agree, I don't like reading through all the posts( but I will when necessary), so I tend to look at new topics. But if it's a topic I am really interested in, I'll take a look.

Cable Induced Coma 02-15-2008 10:27 PM

Witty titles usually attract me, or a title that I can relate to. If it has a ton of pages I will read the first post/page then the latest page of the thread. It usually works out pretty well for me, if the first page and the latest page don't go so well, then I just don't post. I usually don't have to skim too often.

Bloody Rag Doll 02-15-2008 10:27 PM

When the say don't click. XD

Popcorn Gun 02-15-2008 10:29 PM

I like topics where I know I have something to say, so I guess things that relate to me.
If I can't relate it's hard to give a meaningful reply. Good points on a topic are also funny titles.
I really like free art, good debates, and funny anecdotes.

Hug 02-15-2008 10:29 PM

@Bloody Rag Doll:
ahahaha, I do the exact same thing. I can't help it; I want to know why I'm not supposed to click. x3

@Cable Induced Coma:
That sounds smart. I'll have to give it a try. ;o;

Gamersdreams 02-15-2008 10:29 PM

If it's a new topic or it looks interesting. I have a hard time finding threads to look at here though. D:

Hug 02-15-2008 10:31 PM

@Popcorn Gun:
I used to do a lot of free art, but I stopped recently because I'm OCD about details. I take hours even on freebies, and it's been getting ridiculous. Now I don't even do commissions, let alone freebies... D:

@Gamers:
You looked at my thread. ;3

Nacht 02-15-2008 10:34 PM

I click on a topic if the title sounds interesting or if someone needs help. I'm still a newb, so I can't help around THIS site yet.

Sometimes I just click on random and see what's going on.

Hyde 02-15-2008 10:35 PM

humorous titles and boreness xD

Anoni 02-15-2008 10:46 PM

I'm a sucker for the "don't click here" thread titles. XDD

And weird symbols, definitely! :D Because they might contain pretty layouts. XD Humorous titles catch my attention too. Other than that, if the title seems interesting in general, I'll click it.

Hug 02-15-2008 10:51 PM

@Anoni:
I cheat a bit, then. I stick in weird symbols, but then I have no pretty layouts. D:

Arabelle Skydancer 02-15-2008 10:51 PM

It works pretty well. You really should.

yorikobii 02-15-2008 11:07 PM

Usually an interesting topic like you said. I was motivated to click on your topic because it seemed...interesting. I dunno

I don't like skim-reading either to stay on topic...so I'm always off topic >>;
I need to be less lazy and look through people's posts! xDD

nescia 02-15-2008 11:15 PM

I mostly just check out new topics because I'm curious what they might be about.
Otherwise, I just visit threads on a topic that I feel like talking about at that time.
Or I might know the person that posted it or something.
^^

DarkMelancholy 02-16-2008 12:16 AM

I usually visit threads that have catchy titles, or
a title that I might have something that I could
reply to.

Quantum Angel 02-16-2008 01:46 AM

If I see that someone I like wrote it, or if it sounds like something I'm gonna have something to say on, I click it.

If it sounds completely uninteresting to me, I click it because it's there. XD; Sometimes I find I do have something to say!

As for this topic...I clicked it because it asked why I did. I planned to create something of a paradox with this, but I lost my perfect wording. D: Damn.

Interesting titles draw me in more than anything. Weird symbols do help catch my eye.

Nana0o 02-16-2008 02:01 AM

What makes me click a topic if is has something random in the title. Might be something interesting to read.

havenmasters 02-16-2008 11:50 AM

Usually something in the topic has to catch my eye. Or, when I've been browsing the forums for awhile, something that I hadn't noticed before.

s w e e t 02-16-2008 01:01 PM

generally say, it's the topic that attracts me ^^
but it's also depending on how a person wrote the topic.
using diffrent size of font, those symbols may add the chance of me clicking it ^^

rampartte 02-16-2008 08:56 PM

I just choose topic's at random based on their subjects and how much that subject could be of interest too me. But I also tend to click on the ones that make me curious, as this forum pages subject had! Hee hee.

I guess the last reason I go into a room is if someone else is already in there I know and they tell me to go in. Then I follow like a good little puppy. Heh heh heh. :P

Usukie Ichihara 02-17-2008 04:54 AM

I basically choose topics I know I can answer or help someone with. which is why I'm starting to like the media ones. I can just go back a few pages and find something I've seen and comment on it.

but the GD is by far my favorite place to go. there are so many topics to chose from I've just been clicking lately. but if the first post has a paragraph then a question then another paragraph, it gets a bit hard to understand what the topic is really on and then I give up on posting.
