Re: Buying Commons VS Rare Items
I like a lot of the items on Menewsha, store, rare, event, and contribution items included.
If I know there will be an event coming up with items in the Special Event store, I save my gold so I can buy all the items I like at half the price. I do not want to buy all the items on the site, only a large handful. Once I accumulate a large number of items, I will be able to change my avartar around a lot. I love doing this on any and all avatar sites. Once I have some good looks, I want to search around in people's shops and buy a lot of art from them because I LOVE avie art! I once I get most of the items from my wishlist, I plan on donating my gold to other people and charities. I have seen many people on Menewsha who fit each of these descriptions. I think a lot of the people are more of a mix, than one specific type. Just like normal people. |

I really like the shop items, but I like having some Ci's, too. Actually right now I only have one, the glacial circlet. I'll probably end up selling it later, for one reason or another, but... x3

I see people trying to get all the past event items more because of the value than because they like the items, but it will increase the value of the items and make it more unreachable to the people who want them because they really like those items. ^^;; In my opinion, some contribution items are definitely much better and prettier than the common shop items and I will definitely focusing to get, but the shop items are also very pretty and I actually rather try to get them in general and maybe getting the contribution items of the month only if they're real pretty and fit to my avatar...but I don't think I will try to get all of them only because of the value's rising potential. ^^; |
My gold goes into common items so that I can actually have a full outfit. O.<
I just donate to get donation items. c: And I stock up on ones that I know will cost a lot in the future. Experience on gaia has taught me well. xD |
Both the commons and the rares are very lovely, and unlike on Gaia, it doesn't really matter which one I buy, as long as it looks good. On Menewsha, I'm buying the rare items just to hoard until the sale price is satisfactory, then I use the profits to buy a bunch of nice-looking common items, just to build an outfit. Then, I'll worry about sprucing it up with rares. ;)

See, the latest items from the shops' update are very pretty and tempting, yet there are also the items in the special event store which only available for very limited times. It's during these times when making a decision on which ones we should focus our fund to get is the hardest challenge, specially when our gold is also limited. (like the quest fund!) o__o |

I decided to take the opportunity to buy a lot of 'discounted' common items and with whatever gold I have left after the transaction is agreed upon, buy extras of the limited edition items... But it was a really tough call. >_< |
I think it really doesn't matter whether an item is a common or an event/donation. If I like something, I want to have it whether it costs 50g or 5000g. Mind you, on my main account, I did buy one of the items from the Special Event Store before they vanish...

well i'm still a bit new so i'm not all that into donating >.>; but as you can see the measly two items i am wearing is the CI and plucky ducky xD so i guess i'm the type who puts my money in event items and contribution items. i don't think i'm all that into buying everything in the shops, or playing dress up with the shop's clothing >.>; but currently i'm questing for a shop item ^_^

Ah I'm perfectly content with buying items out of the event shop, once and a while I'll fork over the gold (if I have it) and get a CI. I don't have an urge to get any of the "rare" items.

I would like to get some shop items very soon. I have only put it off now because of the special event items in the store. I wanted to make sure I got what I would like of those items since they will be gone very soon. I would say temporary items will always take a precedence over shop items for me, unless of course, I don't like them XD

I can't say I really know anyone well on Menewsha myself. So I don't know anyone in such habits, and cannot possibly think of anyone on other sites who does such a thing either. In my opinon, it is best to have a bunch of cheap items than one expensive item. Expensive items don't look better than cheap items. That said, they don't look worse either, and a well pixeled piece of expensive item is simply indespensible. I guess you call me an item whorder. I get items. I keep items. I get lots of cheap items. I keep lots of cheap items. I like owning a lot of items. Items on items on items on items on items on items on items on items on items. I never sell items, nor do I quest for items. I just save my pennies, and buy what I want when I want. You never know when an item will come in handy, after all! |
You just made me aware that I have never quested for anything either, on any avatar site! I wonder why that is? Probably cause it's too much to keep track of at once, and maybe cause when you finally earn enough all by yourself it's a real feeling of accomplishment.

Quest or not, I never really accept donations. Then again, I never give people donations... Universe balences out. I never feel accomplised by getting something, but that's because i'm not really on a quest for anything in the first place. I just have loose cash floating around. |
I get whatever I want for my next avatar. I try not to sell things though in case I want them for another avatar later down the road, especially with rares and more expensive shop items.

i'm questing every contribute and event item. i donate to the sight to get the newe ietms and i seld them. i also fish chat around and all that. my one and only store item is my deep freeze earings witch i got for 75% price at the moment i'm helping a friend get a puado fo time. i can tell her wel no. i stil need to get my 1000th female shirt, st patirck 07 items and aprat from the valantine 07 pendant all of the valentine 07 items. and the 2 crowns *dont think i'll get the boa and sash. i don't like them and it would be for satus only i'm not sureif i liket the st patrick hair pins so i'm not sure i'll get it. a soon as i'm done getting all the items i like. *apart from my hold up with my friend i sell all the extra Contribute en event items i have. no need to have more then one. i gus i'll sell them cheap to questers or something. i'll work at getting some of the the story items. like most sad they don't rise in price so there no rush with them. i'll guss i'll run stil donate to the sight to sell contribute items cheap, help out friends, questres are what ever. |
When I first joined the first thing I did was go to the exchange thread and find out what different CIs and Event items menewsha had...and then I quested for them. ^^
I have all of them now except for the St. Patty's day event items, but I've pretty much given up in them...so now I buy commons. XD |
I save my gold for the rare items the monthly ones or the event ones.. I am so tempted to look threw the shops but I do not want to loose the gold yet. There are to many other times I must get my hands on before buying a common.

I fell in to over gourging on getting limited items on two other online communities I am in, in order to re-sell them. Sadly, I am a MASS HORDER.
I barely sell anything. So they just sit there since I don't want to let them go and wait money and golds that way. So for this site, I've made it very clear to myself I am only to get something, and only ONE of something, if I really really like it. Be it a limited, and event item, or a common, doesn't matter. Only what I need. And don't sell anything unless it really doesn't click with me anymore, or it's something I don't like once I actaully get it and see how it looks on my avi. Don't sell just to buy something else then wish you still had that other thing to. Just work for it so I can have both. |
