I guess... let's do names today, and tomorrow we can do a one-day PM vote for our favorites? Gaah, I want to choose now, but I've been trying to be really good about not making unilateral decisions here.

We can also do color schemes today, and the PM can just have both votes at once. Get those details out of our way so we can get to serious planning! Especially since I'm told that last year the color decisions took almost as long as the name decision, and that's crazysauce!

I know I'm pushing this pretty fast, but does anyone mind? Let me know if you think it might be a problem!

Whoo, I'm talkative this morning! Here are the colors suggested as possibilities for this theme:
gold, brown-- all shades, royal purple, blue, red, black

I have some images below that could be used for banners and such from http://www.clker.com/. I'm also working on a banner that I can finish once colors are figured out, that can be used to advertise if everyone likes it. As for colors, my thoughts lean to jewel tones. Ruby red, royal blue and purple, gold.

Here's the pics, of course these are just some, there are many more on Clker.

Awesome. I think the list for colors will be a little easier since this particular theme has a pretty established set of colors that goes with it. Definitely reds, purples, and golds as the main colors...black, blues, and browns for accents.

Thanks hon! I'm suddenly a lot more excited about this theme than I already was. I'm going to post a picture of my class, ignore my fatness, but I can take pictures of my scarf and coin belt to use as a background for things. What do you guys think?

That would be awesome, steel! I wish there was a bellydancing class near here right now... They used to have them a lot, but always when I had a play to rehearse for.

I've got some stuff to do now, but when I get back I'll ping all of the planners so everyone will know about the name/color brainstorming. I'm totally behind jewel tones and gold and sand colors, but someone might have a brilliant suggestion we haven't thought of!

That's cool, Codette! I would suggest maybe talking with a mod who's run a treasure map game and getting some advice. Apparently they're a lot of work, and the gold mounts up fast.

Hey, guys, just a quick ping to bring everyone up to date! Desert Winds Caravan is the theme we'll be doing, and now we're going to do a lightning-quick round of choosing color scheme and NPC name.

We'll be taking name and color suggestions until midnight EST tonight (It's about 2:50 PM now) and then from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow night we'll be voting by private message to finalize those things. I know this is fast, but once we have those things out of the way, we'll be able to get down to serious planning!

Also, if you feel you should have been on this pinglist and you aren't, first check to see if you've posted on the current page already because I skipped the people there, and then if you haven't, ping me and let me know you should be listed!

If she has to be a princess I'd much rather see Scheherazade, especially since I'd love to see someone running a storytelling contest.

For those who don't know, all of the Arabian fairy tales you're likely to have heard are supposed to be narrated by a princess named Scheherazade. Briefly, the story goes that the king's wife had cheated on him, so he decided all women were faithless, but he had to have a wife, so he started marrying a different woman each day and having her executed the next morning. When he married Scheherazade, though, she begged to have her sister to keep her company for her last night. That night, she sat with her sister and started telling a story so fascinating that the king was enchanted by it... but it got late so she didn't finish the story. The king wanted to hear the end, so he let her live another night, and she finished the first story and started a second. This went on for one thousand and one nights, by which time the king was in love with his wife and wouldn't dream of having her killed.

I like Diva Djinn. Or the Diva name there too. For colors gold and vibrant jewel colors sounds amazing.

Totally agree! Jasmine is just so...overdone. And it wouldn't be hard to call Scheherazade by the nickname Scher (pronounced like Cher).

I vote for jewelry tones and gold/sandy ones, plus maybe tiny bit of black for accent. :D

Name, hmm, depends what we want our NPC to be in the caravan!
