I think this is a great idea, I'd be interested in participating. Course this will depend on what is involved for participants :)

All participants need to do is apply with a one time form, and then go about generating as much activity as they can! =D

like how will you keep track of everyone?

We'll take starting post counts when people apply, and then compare them to ending post counts, and count through their threads

I see, do they have to stay in their own threads or can they post anywhere?

They can post anywhere, but there is a separate category of prizes for creating threads that get a lot of replies

Just so the helpers (like me) know how this works, do the participants have to say that the thread that they create is to generate replies for this contest or is that against the rules?

They don't have to say that, but if they want to include any posts made after the competition starts in any of their existing threads, they need to submit those threads when applying.
