i am the kind of fellow streetwalker who calls it like she sees it :P
and you are lightweight cause you don't drink often??? imagine that! |
Pfft, yes, that's my excuse for being lightweight! :P
|
I'm probably the most lightweight drinker ever. :gonk: I'd rather not find out for sure, though.
See you then, Jeanne! Hope you enjoyed being in the sticks even with no internet. ;D Quote:
I think I'd mostly want to go home every now and again so I could visit my dogs, cat, friends, and mom... and I guess my dad and siblings. I definitely don't want to be close to home, but a few hours away would be nice, make for easy visits if I was missing people or if there was an emergency I wanted to be home for. I do love the idea of going far away, but I'd only be able to come home for winter and summer breaks. :gonk: Which would be fine, for like, a year, but four years of that might make me sad. The American University in Dubai would be so cool! I really want to study in somewhere like Poland, Russia, Romania, Austria... For the most part, Eastern European countries, though I'd love to go back to Spain and be able to stay there a whole semester, and being able to live and study somewhere in Africa would be absolutely amazing. Even England or Ireland if I wussed out about language barriers. I don't care, they're all invited! I love old people! (Just kidding, guys!) |
i drove through evansville, IN when i was driving back to maine from nevada! i knew it sounded familiar when you guys mentioned it earlier!
|
I gotta type this quick, before this Rv place's questionable wifi connection disappears...
I'm now in Wisconsin, close to the House on the Rock. It's a pretty cool place...we're going to take 2 days to see everything. We may then go to Frank Lloyd Wright's house. He evidently lived here for 50 years, and they now have tours of his house and stuff. Tailesin, I think it's called? Hey Facade....I heard that if you drink in your home in Dubai, they'll come and throw you in jail and throw away the key. ...you might want to consider that before you move there... |
It takes like half a light beer before I'm giggly. ;o
|
I'm too old to get drunk now....that's for you young whippersnappers.
I can't put up with the day after. |
I haven't gotten drunk in ages. I had three beers and that was enough for me to hate the next morning. I felt so groggy.
|
Teehee.
Frank Lloyd Wright? :o ...He was a playwright, right? :ninja: -too lazy to look that up- And eek, nice to know, Jeanne! Although Dubai is SUCH a neat place. ... Even if it IS in massive amounts of debt! @Iltu: We've been through this before, but I'm obsessed with South America, the Middle East, and Africa. :ninja: Oh, and parts of West Asia! East Asia isn't as appealing to me, though, for whatever reason. I'd totally love to go to college with you! :gonk: So apply somewhere in the Boston area and I'll further convince you to potentially ruin your life for me in a few months' time. :ninja: We'll talk again in December, kay? :P I'm afraid of the college I'm headed to this fall, though. The GOOD kind of 'afraid,' though, if that's even possible! I'm afraid I'll end up loving it... They're so catering, personable, and... Well, NEATO! :gonk: They're not nearly as big enough for me to major in something other than Communications or Education (can't see myself in any other majors they offer), but I may end up willing to make that sacrifice... I mean, I can't pinpoint what my future holds. |
Linnea- Hopefully it wasn't a completely boring place to drive through? I've never been!
Jean- Frank Lloyd Wright's house would be such a neat place to visit! Take me with yooooou. :gonk: Facade- Playwright, architect, same diff. Yes, we have been over that! Good places to be obsessed with says I. ...Hey, you like Brazil! 2014 World Cup, LET'S GO. It's an excuse to chill there for a month, so... But I pretty much like, um, the whole world. :gonk: I GOT TRAVELING TO DO. I'll be for sure applying to Northeastern, at the very least! I might look into some other schools in the area as well. I'll be going up there to look at NU, might as well take a peek at a few other colleges. I'd ruin my life for you any day, Fu-shaybby! I totally know what you mean by the good kind of afraid! And communications and education aren't bad fields to get into at all if you end up hanging around there. Are you going in as undecided? |
well it wasn't the most memorable place... i don't even remember what i saw  i just remembered the name cause i liked how it sounded hehe
|
Well, at least you don't recall it being awful.
|
very true! :P
|
Yay! I'm back online!
Man....talk about internet withdrawal! I was right...the internet crashed shortly after my last post, and never came back. We're on the road now, and finally are in range for my datacard, so I can post again!! Frank Lloyd Wright's house....well, that's quite a story. We go to the Visitor Center, say that we want just the house tour (the smaller tour)...2 adults. They guy rings it up and says: "That'll be $94". Excuse me? $94!! We said..."Well, we were curious, but we aren't FLW-ophiles, so we'll pass. Thanks anyway". I don't need to spend $94 to look at a house. Maybe Buckingham Palace, but not a house in Wisconsin. |
hahaha great story, jean
i wouldn't have paid it either! |
It was rather amazing.
So we watched a video in the Visitor Center for free. It showed the house and grounds, so we're good now... |
That's insanity.
My aunt and uncle went on a road trip this summer. They went to one place and they were going to charge a lot of money for three people to look at a mountain and they said no. XD They were like "We can see it just fine from here, I'm not paying 100 for us to look at it closer" |
I know...it's getting expensive to be a tourist these days. Everything costs so much!
We haven't added up the cost of all these little tours we've been taking. I bet we're going to be rather unpleasantly surprised when we do. |
not to mention all the gas used :P
|
Seriously. xD I would LOVE to go on a road trip.
But I'm far too broke to do it any time soon. I would be all up in that museum scene. |
Well, this is the way we spend the summer now...major road trip.
We mainly decide which relative(s) to go visit, and then build the sight-seeing trip around it...both coming and going. Now we're heading to Rochester, MN for about 3 weeks. My step-son, his wife, and the 2 grandkids are there. |
That's a good idea. But all my family is here in Oregon.
Well, my cousin is in Arizona but I won't go to Arizona. And my mom is in Alaska but I wouldn't wanna' drive to Alaska. xD |
The step daughter and her kids are in Alaska.
We have to fly there, so that's always a separate trip. We went there in May. Alaska is a really cool place to visit. The mountains are spectacular! |
Actually, my mom and both my brothers are in Alaska.
But staying with any of them is totally out of the question. Especially with my child. x__X (Not exactly the most responsible bunch). So I probably wouldn't be able to visit Alaska until I could afford somewhere to stay. |
Affording a place to stay is not trivial.
In Cordova, when my stepdaughter lived up on the mountain in a little one-room cabin, we had to stay at a B&B in town, which cost almost $200 a day. Now thankfully, she's in town, renting a house, so last time there was room for us to stay there. MUCH MUCH cheaper! I bought the grandkids some shoes...kids shoes that cost around $80 each. So EVERYTHING there is more expensive! |
