i hope in return they make more to compensate for the high prices

Estrella 07-15-2010 05:40 PM

That's expensive! D:

No wonder my brother stole my huge hoody when he was down. (It was huge - I'm about a M and this sweater was an XXL. Much more suited for my brother who's like 6'3" w/ a beer gut). I think I paid like $10 for it.

But daaaaang.

I don't think I'd enjoy the cold in Alaska anyway. xD

Jeannesha 07-15-2010 05:48 PM

I'm always sending "care packages" to them.

I don't know about the regular people, but my stepdaughter used to be on subsistence, which meant that they could fish for salmon anytime, and they could take trees from the forests.

Now she owns the little taco shop, and does pretty good. (She works like a dog though....never a day off).

I like it up there in the summer time. It's never too hot.
When we were there in May, it was in the 60's-70's most of the time. Really nice.

Estrella 07-15-2010 05:56 PM

Mmm...tacos.

I don't know what my mom is doing.
Or my brothers for that matter.
My mom was working as a care-giver.
And my brother was working on the fishing boats.
(My other brother was a pizza guy).
But I haven't actually talked to them in awhile.

I'm lovin' the 80 degree weather! D: 60s is too cold. XD

Jeannesha 07-15-2010 06:04 PM

Man, it has just been TOO hot around here lately.
I thought if we came up north, it would be cooler, but it has been in the 90's way too often.

Then we get horrendous thunderstorms at night....

Estrella 07-15-2010 06:15 PM

Hehehe. It's been in the 90s here, too, but I'm enjoying it.
Usually, we reach nice weather in early June.
It wasn't until almost the end of June that the weather became more consistent.

Jeannesha 07-15-2010 06:22 PM

Back in Texas, I think it hit 90 in April.
It was a really really early summer!

I much prefer it cooler...at those temps, I just stay inside!

Estrella 07-16-2010 03:37 AM

It was a latelate summer for us and it totally bummed me out.
But I also live within 5 minutes of a lake so when it does get hot, that's always an option.

Jeannesha 07-17-2010 02:59 AM

I remember when I was really little.
My Grandma had a cottage by a lake in Michigan, and we used to go there in the summers.

I remember it being fun, but the lake bottom was always this squooshy muck between my toes. Ick.

Estrella 07-17-2010 04:25 AM

This lake has kinda a rocky bottom. For the most part, it's sandy. But you gotta' watch your feet.

There's another lake not far in the other direction that I won't go to. It's full of algae. *shudders*

Jeannesha 07-17-2010 04:38 AM

Lots of scummy lakes around. I would stay out of them.

Facade 07-17-2010 04:39 AM

YOU'RE a scummy lake. :stare:

Jeannesha 07-17-2010 04:40 AM

Funny thing...I was thinking of you when I wrote that, Facade.

(Kinda like your hair right now...)

Estrella 07-17-2010 04:44 AM

There's a lot of lakes around me, actually, I just don't go to very many of them. XD Though, one of my exes did get me to drive out to a lake. It was ridiculous though 'cause it was a bazillion miles away. Literally. <.<

What is that thing in your signature, Facade!?

Facade 07-17-2010 04:49 AM

It's a rainbow, Estrella. It's attached to the gag reflex of a llama! :o

I hate lakes. I much prefer the ocean. But even then, I'd rather have a pool. :<
Yet seeing as how I hate cold water, and really warm pool water reminds me of pee, I'd want a jacuzzi above it all.

:O A half-compliment from Jeanne! -feels honored-

Estrella 07-17-2010 05:21 AM

LOL. A llama barfing a rainbow. Amazing, simply amazing.

I prefer a pool to a lake and a lake to an ocean. I hate sea critters! :illgetu: I don't mind the beach, but it's not likely you'll get me in the water UNLESS I was in Hawaii. But I've been to the beach here in Oregon and in California. I wouldn't go near the water. *shudders*

Jeannesha 07-17-2010 11:00 PM

I love to scuba dive. It's the only way to "really" get close to the fishies.
It is amazing to just drift along, watching the little guys dart around.

I've never gone diving in any lakes. Generally they aren't clear enough.
I dove in a quarry once....it was absurd. Nothing to see except the decapitated head of a mannequin that some joker had attached to a line. I think I drained my tank in one breath when I swam up and saw *that* appearing out of the murk right in front of me!

Estrella 07-19-2010 05:57 PM

That's awful! D:

I probably would try scuba diving. I mean, I'm not gonna' pass up that opportunity. Though, I also would not actively seek out the activity. xD

Facade 07-19-2010 09:06 PM

I'd love to scuba dive at least once.
...Or... ten thousand times. :ninja: But that might get pricey. :insane:

Estrella 07-19-2010 09:41 PM

I wanna' sky dive. Oh yes, I do.
And bungee jump.

Lots of things.
But I think I'll wait 'til my daughter's older.

Facade 07-19-2010 10:19 PM

I'd rather scuba dive than skydive. :insane:
Although I wouldn't pass up a chance to skydive. :P ... I just have a fear of heights. :ninja: :gonk:

Jeannesha 07-20-2010 03:50 AM

The ONLY way I'd sky dive is if the plane were falling out of the sky.

Forget bungee jumping....that's for insane people.

Facade 07-20-2010 05:03 AM

LOL. Jeanne, we need to someone get a 2 for 1 deal in the home... Maybe you can sleep in the closet of my luxurious penthouse suite? :O

Jeannesha 07-20-2010 05:05 AM

Wait a minute....when did you get the penthouse suite?!

(why is that sounding like a song somehow?)

Facade 07-20-2010 05:23 AM

I've no clue why it sounds like a song. You're just nutso!

And I get it because I'm the future Cher, duh! :talk2hand:
