the songs are fun, but my church is very big so it always takes a while there's no other catholic church in the city (thing). we're not really a city.

Linnea 01-02-2012 06:41 AM

yup sounds like it'd get old fast... but i suppose if i was brought up to believe such a way then maybe i'd feel differently

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 06:44 AM

who knows. I think it's for some people and not for others.

Linnea 01-02-2012 06:47 AM

i think some people need to have that sort of faith and belief... i guess i don't

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 06:51 AM

I took a faith and reason class last semester. I learned a lot. I'm all for faith. it's religion that I have a problem with. they aren't really all that connected.
everyone has faith no matter what.

Linnea 01-02-2012 06:55 AM

i do think i am spiritual, sure... but i like lots of things from different religions... which i think is ok cause at least i still believe in something...

my family has sort of skewed my vision on religion because of the faith the believe in, jehovah witnesses... it has some cult like tendencies as far as i can see... and i can say that cause i used to go to meetings (which is like church, but they don't call it that) often when i was younger

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 06:58 AM

I tend to pick and choose for religions as well. I like Daoist philosophy and the idea of reincarnation. I figure there's a god, but I don't figure there's one religion or one group of people he appeals to.

I don't know much about Jehovah Witnesses actually. my family is Christian all the way down both sides of the family, but different denominations.

Linnea 01-02-2012 07:01 AM

ah yes, i also think that reincarnation makes a lot of sense

a lot of my heritage is native american so i find that whole thing really fascinating and i've explored it a little bit with a professor i had in college who was a practicing shaman... i know they are different, but somethings are very similar such as vision quests and spirit animals and the like

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 07:05 AM

how else do you explain deja vu!!?

oh native american beliefs are so cool! I like to research that kind of stuff, but I never met anyone that practiced it.

Linnea 01-02-2012 07:12 AM

deja vu is like a feeling you get that you've done or seen something before that you are doing or seeing now... or something...

and they are really cool! i've participated in several sweat lodges and i've been able to find and converse with my spirit animal and some other really cool things... i wish i still lived near her and her family cause they turned there house and property into a retreat of sorts and that's where i got to experience those things :)

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 07:17 AM

I meant explain the reason for it. reincarnation!

that's amazing! must have been quite the experience!

Linnea 01-02-2012 07:20 AM

ahhh yea i get what you were saying now  sorry :P but yea, that does make sense, perfect really

and it was very enlightening and cleansing... i do feel like i need to do it again sometime soon cause sometimes your emotions and spirit need a good cleaning

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 07:24 AM

my friends say i was a cat in a past life. I'm pretty sure I jumped off a cliff in a past life though. I keep having this reoccurring dream...

cleansing is good. I could probably use that.

Linnea 01-02-2012 07:33 AM

i heard once that your greatest fears are how you once died in a past life... do you believe that?

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 07:37 AM

I never heard that. I don't think so. in my dream, I always see a woman standing on a cliff and sometimes she leans forward, but I've never seen the end. I know she jumps though. rather than being scared of that, I'm very drawn to it. I feel that falling is a death I write a lot because it appeals to me. somehow in my mind its a bit mixed up with flying.

Linnea 01-02-2012 07:47 AM

i kind of think it might be true cause i am afraid of heights and snakes... like those two things make me so scared that i freeze up or whatever and i have a significant reaction to those things that it makes sense that i fell to my death or got bit in previous lives...
so let me get this right... you are drawn to a falling death because it reminds you, or makes you feel like, you are flying?

Kat Dakuu 01-02-2012 07:53 AM

I feel safe in heights. uh, I guess so linn. it is like flying. I have a weird connection with that death. like I feel it would be peaceful, though I know hitting the ground is not!
my only phobias are of talking on the phone, being touched, and people in general. I don't think a phone killed me in a past life.

Connielass 01-02-2012 08:01 AM

In that case, I might have died by burning in one life, because I have an almost unreasonable fear of fire. Maybe I was burned as a witch or something.

Linnea 01-02-2012 08:04 AM

kat, maybe you were strangled by a telephone wire or something :O

ooo that's a good one, connie! it could be true!

Connielass 01-02-2012 08:11 AM

And the falling=flying thing... You know, some people find peace in seeking death, that it's separation from a life that brought some kind of overwhelming pain or other kinds of strife.
Maybe that was the case? Maybe a past life was so unbearable that falling - flying - to your death brought a sense of peace?

It's a thought, anyway.

Linnea 01-02-2012 08:13 AM

wow that is really insightful... kinda makes you think

Jeannesha 01-02-2012 04:19 PM

I have a fear of spiders...maybe one bit me.

I don't like heights, but that's cuz my equilibrium is so wacky, I fall easily.

Connielass 01-02-2012 05:32 PM

As for fear of spiders, heights and stuff like that, I don't think it's so unreasonable.
The majority of spiders may not be venomous, but there are enough venomous spiders out there that I think it's a legitimate fear. Certainly the fear of heights is legitimate; we all know that if we fall, we go splat. And there ARE people who suffer from vertigo the higher up they go, which, from what I understand, can at times become almost painful.

Jeannesha 01-02-2012 05:42 PM

I have vertigo...and it doesn't really matter how high I go.
Even 2 steps on a ladder will do it to me.

Linnea 01-02-2012 06:23 PM

if there is a shot on tv or a movie that shows a 'look down' scene i totally feel woozy... maybe i have that too? :O
