my family has always had computers it seems. my dad would bring home old ones from work.

we played pokemon boards games, dueled pokemon and yugioh and duelmasters cards...
Whenever with my cousins though, we always played cards. always.

really? I never liked barbies. I only had two and they were gifts from distant family.

Barbies were the IT thing when I was young...

Pokemon and stuff were never heard of. Japanese stuff was looked down on.
It was still too close to WWII. There's no way our parents would have allowed anything like that.

barbies are still a fad. I didn't buy into it.

I think I've always loved japanese stuff.

Well, you (and I) never lived through the war.
It was not anything that my father or uncles would have been able to stand.
Too many bad memories...

I suppose. we're in war now and I don't think badly of the 'enemy' though.

You wouldn't unless you were involved in the fighting.

My Dad and Uncles were directly involved.

hm. I guess. I just see that war is war and no ones really a bad guy. every one is awful.

There were a lot of atrocities committed by the Japanese. Particularly in the POW camps...

I'm not saying that we didn't do bad things either...it's just the stories that I head as I was growing up (when I wasn't supposed to be listening...)

and we put japanese americans in ghettos just because of their skin color regardless of having any association with japan. *shrug*

Yup, put them in camps, but we didn't starve or beat them...or torture them.

But yeah. That wasn't nice either.

Anyway, no matter what happens, I think that war is hell, no matter WHICH side you're on.

yeah. no ones really honorable in war. or they haven't been since before the american revolution.

I recently read War and Peace.

Back in the old days they fought wars so strangely.
Nobody fought at night... the two sides often camped close to each other.

Then when it was time for the battle to start, they ran towards each other and fought.

So strange...

yeah. before that, war was barbaric. after that, war was bloody. but for a random point in time, war had rules.

How perfectly civilized.

I think they must have just been bored and gave rules to everything.

Well, it maybe wouldn't necessarily be bad for there to be rules for everything, would it?

I guess. I don't know since I haven't seen such a thing in action.

Sometimes I think that we humans have too much of the herding instinct.

pack mentality is scary.
