Oh, Kaua'i? Yeah, it's not. Actually, we just got over some pretty heavy rains for the season. But this winter was the hottest I can remember. The drought was pretty crazy. And it really depends on what state and what location/elevation you're at. You get varying weather types. We just had some weird wheather lately, like it hailed in the middle of the two mountains in a valley. And I've never seen it hail there, ever. I didn't even think it was possible to hail in a valley...

Hail? lol...I never think of Hawaii and hail.

Last summer here in Austin it was a drought and I guess the temps were in the 110's for a long spell.

We were in our RV up north, so we didn't have to go through that...

yeowch 110. It usually just snows on the mountains, but the weather decided to be weird. Kinda like those apocalypse movies where it hails in like coastal LA or somewhere that makes no sense.

I've never lived around mountains...

I grew up in North Dakota, so I'm used to seeing miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles.

lol some of the big island is like that, nothing but brown grass, lava rock, or rainforest for miles. Obviously on a smaller scale.

We have fields of nothing for miles sometimes...

But here in Austin, we're on the edge of the hill country, so there are some pretty views around.

Oh wow nice. Our grassy areas are kindof higher up for the cattle, but we seem to have quit a bit of golf courses for the tourists. Weird seeing all that artificial grass. :/

I can't imagine living somewhere with all those tourists around all the time.
I imagine they get underfoot!

They are annoying, but I'm used to it. I actually live above chinatown where it's more ghetto, so not many tourists are stupid enough to come around here. Too many tweakers and homeless people. I sure miss living in the country area...

Yeah. Some of them are just downright headcases. Can't make eye contact, never make eye contact. But sometimes they come at you anyway... But it's funny the things they do. Like if you leave your laundry in the dryer for too long, you risk someone stealing it. They steal the weirdest things and try to sell you even weirder things...

That's one thing I've never had to do...take my laundry to the laundromat.
When I lived in an apartment, there were always machines there.

Then I quickly moved to a house and had my own machines.

Oh man!
That would be scary.

But you keep your machines outside?
I have a laundry room...

lol sadly not my machine. I rent a tiny room under the stars from these chinese people with terrible english. They even charge for me to wash my clothes, but they charge less than the laundromat at least. The last place I rented had a washer, but no dryer. At least here there is both.

Oh yes, they are. Almost everything we need for daily life needs to be shipped, so the prices go up due to shipping cost and whatnot.

Do you get lots of fresh fruit for a reasonable price?

Actually no, it's funny. And most of our fruits are shipped, too (stupid, right). And if you get caught on someones property picking their fruit, sometimes they shoot at you lol.

Yikes!

Well, I guess it pays them better to ship the stuff out than to sell it right there!

Oh, yes. And where I live ny the city, things are pricy due to the tourist shops here and the waikiki strip. We call them tourist traps, things are so stupidly overprices. Like if you try to watch an IMAX 3D film down in waikiki, it costs like 20 bucks for one person. :/

Why on earth would somebody travel all the way to Hawaii, and then go watch a movie?
