Austin gets lots of tourists around during South By Southwest.

Lots of celebrities too...but I stay away from the city proper during that crazy time...

lol. I don't think I've met anybody in person except for the mayor and his family once. But you see alotta limos or hear about your friends meeting them. My friend told me john travlota is short in real life. Like, I'm taller than him. But then again, I'm freakishly tall. But she was short, too.

I think we even have some celebrities that live here now.

Sandra Bullock, one of the Quaids, Jesse James...

I've never seen any of them...

But then, I never go downtown either.

I'd rather run across the guy who won Top Chef.
He's got a restaurant here in Austin.

Really? I guess that makes sense. I think of Santa Fe as being an artistic-type of town. Very laid back.

Any examples?

I don't know of any, but in general, lots of creative people end up in new mexico. Georgia o'keef, Judy Chicago (I think). I do know that Salvatore Scibone went to school at the other college in SF. He came and talked to one of my classes. totally a cool dude.

Well, I'm not an artistic sort, so I didn't recognize any of those names except Georgia O'Keef.

Hey, I did see that Thomas Kincaide just died. He was really young!

Judy Chicago is a HUGE feminist artist. she's written a lot of books and been making art for like, 40 years.

who?

lol...you don't know who Thomas Kincaide is?

He's done all those houses and yardscapes that have the sunrise/sunset type of lighting in the backgrounds...

There have been numerous calendars and stuff from his works.
Very commercial.

I'm sure that if you saw one of his paintings, you'd recognize the style...

yeah, that does look a bit familiar, but its kinda every postcard type scene I've ever seen. i have some puzzles that look like that, but they aren't based on art by him.

a style like that is hard to pick out because its nothing all that special. very talented yes, but not unique.

Hi Kuro!

Well, I think Kincaide was unique, but then was copied a lot...

But whatever. It doesn't really matter.
I know nothing about art anyway!
