Those bell bottoms were REALLY low...
It was the only way to keep a shirt tucked in and not show off your "plumber's crack".

We also had long sleeved shirts with wide cuffs and really large puffy sleeves.

Let's see...my hair was long and parted down the middle. That was pretty normal for hair styles...kinda "hippy-ish".

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 07:31 PM

haha. I guess it was cool to have your shirt tucked in then?

I was never fond of how that looked. I don't like puffy sleeves.

yeah? that does sound rather normal.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 07:33 PM

You had to have the tucked in shirt to show off your narrow waist and those awesome hip huggers.

I used a scarf as a belt...very swirly and op-art type of scarf.
I was a thing to behold....

I also wore very very very short shorts....I forget what they were called...

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 07:36 PM

I see. but doesn't that only work if you have a narrow waist?

I always wanted to try that. I have a sparkly blue scarf-ish thing that looks perfect as a belt.

they had a name?

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 07:42 PM

Hot Pants! That was the name... lol.

I can't believe I wore those things...
You couldn't bend down at all, or you would show a LOT more than you intended...

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 07:43 PM

really clever. now were they called that because they made people look hot or because you wore them when it was hot outside? :P

that sounds extraordinarily short.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 07:47 PM

They made you look HOT.

(I was in North Dakota, so it wasn't really that hot temperature wise there).

It was just the style then...probably about 8-9 inches above your knee.
Shorter than miniskirts...

I had one outfit that I made. It was a striped seer-sucker.
The hot pants and a blazer. It actually made it quite "professional".
I wore it at the bank that I worked in over the summer. They never said it was in bad taste...but I'm thinking now that it wasn't exactly the right thing to wear.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 07:53 PM

like how girls wear sophie shorts now where they roll up the waist so that they're super short?

haha. because it was that time it wasn't in bad taste.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 08:20 PM

These had only about an inch below the crotch...
Well, maybe 2 inches....

I'm trying to think of other weird things that I wore...

I had a pair of white go-go boots.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 08:24 PM

that's how I'm used to seeing girls wear shorts.

the fashion in the 70's was just so interesting.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 08:26 PM

It was kinda interesting, but these days you can wear almost ANYTHING, and it's OK.

I think that kids these days have so many cool-looking things that they can wear.
I sure wish I could have worn those things.

I love the patterned leggings and stuff...

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 08:42 PM

that's true. the era of anything goes.

really? you think the young generation has cool clothes?
I've never worn patterned leggings or leggings of any sort actually except for that brief time when black tights or legging were required for dance my freshman year of high school.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 08:44 PM

There are so many cute layering options...
I think that a kid has so many cute clothes that they can wear now.

I'm too old for them, and would just look ridiculous.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 08:52 PM

haha. there's a reason I like drawing clothes. I always design such fun things for my characters. its hard to come up with outfits sometimes, but I've become much better at designing original costumes.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 08:53 PM

Do you ever watch Project Runway?
It's one of my favorite shows. I just love seeing how they create the clothes.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 08:56 PM

I've never seen it. I don't know if I would enjoy it or not.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 08:59 PM

You should watch some of the reruns sometime.

I think they're on Style...not sure of the channel name.
I think the original show is on Bravo. The new season should be starting soon I think.

Man, I've done pretty good at posting today. I've made lots of gold!

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 09:02 PM

its just I have a weird idea of what style looks good. i have watched that show Face Off on sci-fi channel though.

I want 9999 gold!

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 09:03 PM

lol...good luck getting exactly that!

I've never figured out how they add gold for posts.

Some posts I make are short, but they make a lot of gold.
I know it's by word or letter count, but sometimes it just seems a bit off.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 09:05 PM

does it seem off? I don't know. I do know when I post in rps on in zephi's dream thread, I come away with tons of gold because I post so much. long posts are the best! yes....longer....*stretches out posts with lots of ellipses*

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 09:06 PM

lol...at least no mod has accused me of using my ellipses to just gain more gold.

It really is my writing style...I use them kind of like a pause.

I'll bet it can get annoying at times...

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 09:07 PM

haha. I just happen to like ellipses. they have great uses.

you purposely used them a lot right there didn't you?

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 09:08 PM

Well, I was thinking about it at the time.

Most times when I use them, I'm not really thinking about them...it's kinda like a pause and my fingers type them when I'm trying to figure out what else to say.

Kat Dakuu 05-02-2012 09:11 PM

lol.

I like dramatic pauses. there's a reason I use ellipses, m-hyphens, and fragments a lot in my writing. they're all very good dramatic devices.

Jeannesha 05-02-2012 09:12 PM

Not quite the same as the dramatic acting pauses that are used heavily in the William Shatner school of acting...

lol...
