No, no....they way my hubby does it, they're really really good.
You have to put a bit of lime in it at the end to give it some citrus flair. |
oh. I really hate lime flavor.
|
Lemon would work as well... they both give a bit of a "tang".
Chefs call it a "brightness". |
the only citrus I like is orange. lemon is so icky. lime is better.
|
I don't know about orange.
Vinegar is sometimes used to give that acid flavor too... |
vinegar is gross too. why would you like an acid flavor?
|
If you watch the cooking shows, they always say that a little acid makes other flavors pop.
Cooks always get dinged for not having enough acid in their meals. |
but it tastes nasty.
|
If it's done right, you don't really TASTE the vinegar.
It just give a nice "tang" to things. |
you can smell it!
|
Not really...not when it's cooked in.
Hubby makes a crock pot pork roast. He uses vinegar in it, and you don't smell it or taste it. You just taste the great "tang" in the gravy. |
i don't believe you. I can always smell vinegar.
|
It's true though, Kat.
You'd be surprised how much vinegar is used in cooking! It also breaks down the enzymes in meats and make them more tender. Our brisket recipe calls for an entire bottle of Italian Dressing, which has TONS of vinegar in it. It makes the brisket fall apart. Yummy flavors too... |
well, I know its used in a lot of cooking, but whatever. I don't like meat so it doesn't matter.
|
Man, I wonder what happened.
I didn't know it was "my turn". |
Everyone's been occupied with the event threads.
|
I know....I always post in lots of places during events...
|
*pokes your thread* did you forget to post here, jean?
|
*hangs head*
Yes.... |
its okay. these things happen.
|
So...now we have to come up with something else to talk about, since the other subject is now OLD.
|
*shrug* you come up with it. I'm too lazy.
|
