I think you have to be married.
Does your Dad have a shop or something? They need to putter somewhere! |
if you say so.
no. he'd never have time for something like that. he only works. always on a computer working through an entire day. |
Poor man.
Hubby used to always be on the computer, but his eyes go out on him now... He needs to get away and do other stuff. |
I think my dad secretly wants to work all the time. he doesn't want to deal with other things.
|
But then when they retire, that's when they have to putter.
They have to be doing things all the time. |
if you say so. some people just never retire.
|
That's true.
But if I weren't retired, I wouldn't be able to be online like this! |
that's true and then how sad would your life be?
|
You guys keep me hopping...that's for sure!
|
lol. it's good to hang out with youngins huh?
|
It really is.
I think that without conversations and stuff, the brain just gets stuffy. |
or moldy maybe? the brain would just degenerate.
|
lol...stuffy, moldy... yup.
I do puzzles and stuff, but that's not the same as talking with REAL people! (You ARE real, right?) |
*to steal from a comic about a banana* I'm just a figment of your imagination!! ~poooof~
|
You're just a figment of my banana?
What? |
I don't think its a published comic, but basically, this girl runs into the room and tells this guy that his banana has been stolen by radioactive squirrels. instant meltdown. he cries. then she says "wait! I have something to tell you." "...what?..."
"I'm just a figment of your imagination!!!" then the banana is fine because it never happened and the dude hugs his beloved banana. |
Um. ooookaayyy....
I knew there was a reason I didn't read comics anymore... |
it's actually something the teacher drew in order to teach the class about the importance of panels and how much to show and what you should skip out of the story. turns out you can take away half the panels of a comic and still understand the story, but you do miss emotional impact and stuff. it was for a lesson is all.
|
Ah!
You know, I never thought about it...but there really is a "science" behind writing good cartoons, isn't there? |
oh hell yes. you think it's just whatever goes when you're writing comics and graphic novels?! everything from the panel order, to panel size and style, to the amount of dark and light in panels or on the page can make a difference!
|
And here I just thought you had to have a good punch line!
I need to look back at some of my favorite cartoons and see what they do. I love Dilbert, For Better or Worse, Zits, Baby Blues |
-.-
but it's different for simple sunday cartoons. that's easier. the panels are in the same strips no matter what. but what about Batman comics and manga? graphic novels! *smacks hands together* |
I haven't read any Manga...also, I don't think I've read a Superman/Batman/Spiderman comic in years and years...
But your point is well taken. |
I never actually read american graphic novel. not really. I have an Avengers bandaid on my finger though. [heart] Avengers!
|
lol... Avengers?
What were they like... I can't remember. |
