Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Hubby is happily watching football now as he's making the stuffing.

It's just the two of us, so he's doing an herb chicken instead of turkey, but we're getting the stuffing and everything else!

My favorite is corn!
I know...it's starch, but it's so yummy!

Normally I eat green beans, so no green bean casserole for me...just give me that great corn!

When I was a kid we always had creamed corn, but hubby refuses to do that.
lol...

Do you make everything homemade or do you get some things out of a can?

Oh, I LOVE creamed corn!!! It's one of my cold and snowy/dreary-day comfort foods. Especially if I have the day off from work, I'll make a lunch of grilled cheese, apple slices, creamed corn, and tea.

We used to use creamed corn like gravy on mashed potatoes....

It came straight out of the can.

Eh.. I'm not so keen on potatoes, for the most part.
I like me some good mashed potatoes, but I don't like the taste of corn and potato together.

I got my sweet potatoes. I had two thanksgiving dinners because we went to hang with my mom's family today which was really nice. we went for a walk/tour of the little town. we even went to the Candy Shack! guess what they sell there.

it's a really big candy store. there was a lot. we bought a bag full of different things. sold by ounce. then we sat down and watched an artist blow glass. it was well after dark when we walked back to my aunts house.

I hadn't seen it in person before. I've seen something similar, but not blowing glass specifically.

I have a glass bowl that we watched being blown at the Ren Faire in Texas a few years ago.

As soon as they opened, we made a beeline for the glassblowers, and put our order in. They told us when they would be making it for the demo, and then saved front row seats for us.

So while they were doing it, they were talking to us and showing us.
It's a beautiful pink wavy bowl....

It would be fun to learn how to blow glass.

Just don't inhale...

there's a lung disease specific to glass blowers. it has to do with breathing in hot gas all the time.

I think that there are new methods now that have to do with using compressed air instead of blowing into tubes.

I don't know that you'd have the same control though.

probably most people prefer to blow the air themselves.

I've also always wanted to take up pottery.

I like the idea of throwing pots...

I don't like the wheel much, though I've only used it once. I prefer building slab and coil pots. coils are the way to go.
