huh. That's interesting. I didn't know there was more than one of them.
|
I didn't either.
Hubby was looking them up this morning and found that out. I guess if the only time you get $$ is over the holiday season, you've got to optimize it and get as much as you can. |
they seem to only do concerts in winter, but it's not like they aren't getting money off their albums year 'round. Christmas isn't their only music. :/
|
I don't think I've ever seen them around except during the holidays.
But during the concert, they did do some Mozart music, and they had this cool thing going on where they did Night on Bald Mountain...from Fantasia. |
Don't say it like Night on Bald Mountain is from Fantasia! The music existed before the movie. But yeah, they have a lot of music that they just aren't famous for.
|
Right. It's just where I know it from the most.
I love that song... |
I love it too. Fantasia picked really good music to use.
|
I remember seeing it when it first came out.
It's the dancing hippos that I remembered the most vividly |
I saw it when it first came out too and that used to be my favorite piece, but I adore Stravinsky's Rite of Spring now. I got that cd for christmas.
|
Actually, I'm thinking that when Fantasia FIRST came out, you probably weren't born yet?
Hey, I won Admin's pick for my blue outfit. |
I didn't know it was so old.
|
I loved that movie as kid, would come home from school and put it when while I did homework. My favorite was the goat peoples that made the wine. With the Pegasuses flitting about.
|
I watched it a lot as a kid too.
the Pastorial Symphony. The fauns should have been partying with Dionysus until Zeus threw a thunder storm at them. That animation was very Greek. |
Thank you for giving me the word, Faun! Could not for the life of me remember that word.
As I am most fond of string instruments, the section with the dancing lines was amazing! |
I prefer stravinsky. He's my favorite composer. Vivaldi would be next. I like a little violence in my music after all...or so it seems. Those soft pretty little classical pieces don't suit me at all.
|
My favorite is the cello, it's what I imagine the soul sounds like if the soul made a sound that is. Has that moody deep quality, but can still have a soft sound.
|
I think the soul would sound like a bass guitar.
|
That could be very true.
VAST has a couple of songs that I love because the use of the Cello is so prevalent. |
The cello is a beautiful instrument for sure! I also love the oboe.
When I was a kid we had gotten one of those huge console stereos. At the time, stereos were pretty new. This thing just played albums, yet it was about 6-7 feet long, and 3 feet high and 3 feet deep. We had been to a children's symphony and there was a part where they showed off the instruments, and I just loved it! So my Dad found an album that basically did the same thing. Using Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, they introduced each instrument, did little parts with some of them together, and then at the end they all played together. It was magical! |
The oboe? If I'm going to like a double reed instrument, it would b the bassoon. My older brother played that.
sounds like a cute album, uh...Jean? oh no, I can't tell you two apart at all! |
The bassoon is a good instrument also.
Queenie and I are twins? That's cuz I was channeling her... |
channeling or copying?
|
lol...I typed copying first, but then changed it to channeling...
|
I'm glad I can understand what you really mean then.
|
Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
...that's what I've always said! lol... |
