that's sad. You need a coach or something to keep you on it and make sure you make progress.

llonka 08-13-2014 08:30 PM

I probably do need to sign up for a fitness coach, but I don't have the money. I have a "Beachbody" coach but she always wants me to buy these shake things that cost too damn much. I think you should be able to lose weight out some miracle shake.

Kat Dakuu 08-13-2014 08:49 PM

those shakes are a bad way to go anyway! Natural weight loss is healthier and lasts longer.

Jeannesha 08-14-2014 02:25 AM

Well, one time I lost lots of weight with the Medifast program, which was basically just a liquid diet. Of course it all came back, with additional pounds.

Then lately I lost a lot of weight just by watching the carbs.
For some reason it's all coming back again. I think my body has "adjusted", and is trying to put the weight back on to make up for the missing carbs.

*sigh*

Kat Dakuu 08-14-2014 02:32 AM

cutting carbs is supposed to be pretty effective. There are a lot of factors that could lead to weight change though if it's not just your diet. I would think anyway. Medications, getting older, a change in exercise...

Jeannesha 08-14-2014 04:31 AM

Well, it's true that I haven't been walking like I was.
But the weight gain had started before the hot weather ended my walking.

I can't believe how HOT out it has been lately!

Kat Dakuu 08-14-2014 04:48 AM

Could just be your body's natural change as you age. The body isn't a constant after all.

it is hot, but it's hardly gotten it's hottest yet. It's fine as long as you don't go out in the middle of the day for more than two minutes.

llonka 08-14-2014 11:21 AM

I'm going to walk the boys to school today. I've gotten out of going for walks too. I try to count calories but then I fall off the wagon and eat too much because I can tell myself "oh well I'll try harder tomorrow". Tomorrow hasn't come yet...

Jeannesha 08-14-2014 03:35 PM

Too bad I don't like the "natural" that my body's trying to get to!

I try to go shopping to get the walks in, but guess what...I end up spending money.
lol...

Kat Dakuu 08-14-2014 06:09 PM

I go to the grocery store with my mom every week even though I don't have to. Partly because I'm a picky eater and partly to get out and walk. Otherwise I'm inside all day sitting.

Connielass 08-14-2014 06:09 PM

I'm trying to look for a secretary/admin. assistant job. One of the openings I found is for a warehouse, looking for someone to keep everyone else organized, plus do some light lifting/moving. It might be ideal for getting a bit of a workout in....

Jeannesha 08-15-2014 02:25 AM

It was so funny today.

Hubby had a bunch of errands to run, going around town, so I went with him.

One place was the Half Priced Books store. He wanted to see if they'd buy some old sheet music that he had of his Dad's.
So the way they work, you leave the stuff, but have to stay in the store. They then price it and call you on the intercom.

So I shopped around.

Net result...he got $11.50 for the music, and I cost him $27.50 for books.
We walked out $16.00 poorer. lol...

Kat Dakuu 08-15-2014 03:20 AM

normally when we go to return things, they do it right then. No waiting.
but of course you went into a bookstore and ended up poorer. Better than when my mom tried to take about 30 romance novels and they wanted to give her a dollar for the whole bag.

Queen_Andais 08-15-2014 03:22 AM

Next Thursday after my weigh in, when I get home from work we will be going to gym. My plan is to go everyday the next 30 days, for 30 minutes a day to see how much more weight I can lose with the added exercise. Should be interesting. Can't wait. hoping to lose 10 pounds this next month, anything over that will be a bonus and happy surprise.

Goodwill is a great place to drop $15 on a bunch of books...that's what I did a few weeks ago. Filled almost the rest of the Janet Evanovich series about Stephanie Plum. Only missing three books at this point.

Kat Dakuu 08-15-2014 03:39 AM

good luck with the exercise! A gym is boring to me so I can never commit to a routine like that. I'm American like that! :P

oh really? I've only bought clothes at Goodwill a few times. There's one very near my home. Then again, I'm exceedingly picky about the things I read these days because I don't have a good network to work off of anymore. No authors to look for, or series to follow. I may have just started some though. Mostly, the things I like to read are not carried in stores. I order offline.

Queen_Andais 08-15-2014 03:53 AM

Kat, what kind of books do you like?

I am American too and my weight and laziness shows it. I figure the working out once a day for 30 minutes is a great way to get my out of shape ass back into a "normal" shape. Got 108 more pounds to go before I am at my goal weight of 160.

Jeannesha 08-15-2014 04:18 AM

You know, I'm always taking stuff to Goodwill, but I don't think I've ever shopped in a Goodwill store.

This bookstore was a revelation to me though.
I have a LOT of books that I want to get rid of. I was thinking of just selling them for 50 cents each at a garage sale. But maybe I could get more from them?

Then again, maybe not...I suspect that my books they would just give me 10 cents each for.

llonka 08-15-2014 11:11 AM

I've decided I only really like Romance novels or fantasy. Though I like a lot of what I've read in the American Lit. class I took last year. I can't wait for Lit 2 to start on Tuesday! [eager] We are going to read The Awakening.

I'm pretty American and lazy too. I won't go to a gym because around here you have to pay for it! So I'm gonna try to walk the boys to school every morning until it just gets too cold.

Jeannesha 08-15-2014 10:07 PM

How far is it to the boy's school?

When it's cooler out, I'll resume my walking. I generally did a bit over 2 miles each day.

Well, I went to my endodontist today. he said that we're going to have to do a root canal. But I'm not scheduled for another 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, he gave me some steroids to take...said it would be better than advil for the pain.

Kat Dakuu 08-15-2014 11:06 PM

I soooo rarely read books these days, just fan fiction, but the genre of that I read is gay romance. I like crime drama and fantasy too and fairy tales. Modern lit fix, but yeah, it's the non standard romance I can't find in stores.

Try 25 cents jean. That's what paperbacks sell for at the flea market my mom's church does. 50 for a hardback. I think that price is fair.

Jeannesha 08-16-2014 04:58 AM

It was strange, but in Houston, items that were priced for $1 seemed to go better than anything that was priced for 25 cents. (I can't find the cent sign on my keyboard).

I didn't understand exactly why though.

Kat Dakuu 08-16-2014 05:18 AM

Eh really? And on my computer command or Ctrl (can't remember which) and the $ key will make a cent.

llonka 08-16-2014 02:02 PM

It's like four blocks to their school, so not very far at all. Takes about ten minutes to walk there. Walking is better than dealing with all the stupid traffic for sure.

Kat Dakuu 08-16-2014 05:00 PM

That's not too bad though it's so hot now. You would drive them otherwise? No bus?

Jeannesha 08-17-2014 01:59 AM

It's not as hot up there as it is here, is it llonka?

I don't know what the ctl key does to the different keys on my keyboard. It doesn't show at all...
