That was always the fun thing about Christmas.
...playing with the stuff later!

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-27-2014 02:58 AM

I got four boxes of craft stuff.

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 03:04 AM

Isn't playing fun?! :D

That's a lot kirin.

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-27-2014 03:06 AM

and she has more stuff for future times

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 03:07 AM

Well that's cool. What sort of stuff?

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-27-2014 05:10 AM

papers, stamps, ink pads, embellishments, fun stuff.

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 06:22 AM

Ah. Sounds like scrapbooking and card making stuff.

Jeannesha 12-27-2014 07:01 PM

MY sister does a lot of card making and scrapbooking.
She has TONS of stuff.

I've never gotten into it on purpose.
I just know that I'd go overboard and get way too much stuff.

So I just stick with the knitting and crocheting...I just have tons of yarns.

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 07:03 PM

I don't really craft except I make jewelry sometimes.

Jeannesha 12-27-2014 10:41 PM

Well, today we started packing up stuff in our living room cabinets.
This is in prep for when we get the painting and stuff done.

Hubby's son and family are coming on Wednesday, so we can't pack everything up yet until they leave the following week.

But his kids are terrors, so I'm glad to get my breakables packed away!

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 10:44 PM

HAHA! kids. And is it just me or are you always remodeling something?

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-27-2014 10:44 PM

I make cards and if you want me to make a winter card for you just send me your address if you are willing. *nods*

I want to get more into jewelry making.

Jeannesha 12-27-2014 11:44 PM

Well, we bought the house in 89, so it's "dated".
The only thing we've updated since then is the kitchen.

So now it's the living/dining room's turn!
I want wood floors. I also want to get rid of the polished brass chandeliers in the entry and the dining room.

Kat Dakuu 12-27-2014 11:47 PM

Seems like you've done more than that...

We need to update the upstairs bathroom. It's a horror story.

I need to take picks of my jewelry, but I almost never do.

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-28-2014 12:36 AM

I bought some pretty handpainted beads today.

Kat Dakuu 12-28-2014 12:48 AM

I love stuff like that. My brother got me some charms I want to use. One is a cute sleepy panda.

Jeannesha 12-28-2014 06:11 AM

Wow...hand-painted beads?
Sounds like it was a lot of work for somebody!

Well, we did have that leak in the upstairs bathroom which caused us to have to tear it out and do major repair.
So I guess it was "sorta" updated. I refused to change the wallpaper though!

Kat Dakuu 12-28-2014 06:25 AM

There's a lot of it though. Probably not as crazy of a task as you might think.

wasn't it hard to fix the repair while keeping your wallpaper though?

Kirin Rosenbaum 12-28-2014 01:37 PM

These are a starfish and two different shells. I have plans for them.

Kat Dakuu 12-28-2014 05:56 PM

What sort of plan?

Jeannesha 12-28-2014 06:22 PM

The major damage was to the floor.
We had to tear out the tile on the floor, and repair the sub boards around the toilet area.

It didn't harm the walls at all, so we just had to re-tile the entire bathroom floor (cuz you really couldn't match the old tiles...nobody makes them like that anymore)

It looks pretty good though.
Even though the wallpaper is dated, it's in good shape.

Also, we had a hell of a time getting the wallpaper off the walls in the kitchen, and we didn't want to go through THAT again. When they built the house, they didn't size the walls, so the wallpaper was very strongly adhered to the sheetrock.
Taking the wallpaper off tore the sheetrock, and it had to be replaced.

("Sizing" is putting a coating on the sheetrock so that wallpaper comes off more easily later)

Kat Dakuu 12-28-2014 06:42 PM

our wallpaper is in terrible shape and just needs to go. It was ugly wallpaper from the start and then the mold refuses to leave.

Just paint over the wallpaper!!

Jeannesha 12-29-2014 12:35 AM

Most wallpapers can't be painted over.
Especially not this kind. It's really dark.

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 12:42 AM

Really? I wouldn't think it hard.

Jeannesha 12-29-2014 01:41 AM

Paints don't really adhere well to wallpapers.
Especially if they're partly glossy like ours is. It's not like regular paper.
