Fantasy? Is it young adult?

llonka 12-29-2014 08:16 PM

Yup. I like Greek/Roman mythology. I guess I need to read the real stuff like Homer's Odyssey again. I was supposed to read in it high school, but when I was a freshman boys were more interesting. [sweat]

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 08:22 PM

haha. I haven't read too much greek mythology lately, but my last semester of college I took a class called Myths, Fairytales, and Archetypes. I am far more charmed by fairytales right now.

llonka 12-29-2014 09:38 PM

I like fairytales too.

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 09:41 PM

I like to find ones from all the different cultures. There's so much variety.

llonka 12-29-2014 11:39 PM

That sounds like fun. :)

I started on The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne but it's too wordy. Bleh. So I'm gonna try to read Pride and Prejudice.

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 11:43 PM

Pride and Prejudice is pretty good. I didn't like The Scarlet Letter while in school though.

llonka 12-29-2014 11:45 PM

I didn't read The Scarlet Letter in High School. Bleh. I've been wanting to read Pride and Prejudice since we talked about it that one day.

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 11:48 PM

There isn't much of any required books I like in high school. Some short stories stuck with me and plays. Not novels though.

llonka 12-29-2014 11:49 PM

Me either. xP Well except for 1984, have you read that one? It's weird.

Kat Dakuu 12-29-2014 11:53 PM

Oh forgot about that. I LOVE 1984. I never read Animal Farm though.

llonka 12-30-2014 12:00 AM

I've never read Animal Farm either. Is that another of his?

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 12:00 AM

Yes. It's very similar.

llonka 12-30-2014 12:03 AM

Hmmm maybe over the summer I'll look for it. :)

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 12:07 AM

sounds like a plan. I'm pretty sure it's shorter.

I don't read much myself. Mostly fanfiction and stuff online that's been reced to me.

llonka 12-30-2014 12:10 AM

Ah okay. I've been reading a lot lately, being an English major.

Are you done with college?

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 12:18 AM

That tends to happen. Bless your poor soul... o__o

Yes, for a year already.

llonka 12-30-2014 12:25 AM

LOL it's okay though, I'm enjoying it. I can't wait to get to the universtiy in the fall and take grammar classes! [squee]

Oh wow!! CONGRATS!!!

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 12:28 AM

What's fun about grammar? It's all diagramming sentences. Boo. My best friend just finished getting her English masters though. It about killed her.

thanks.

Jeannesha 12-30-2014 06:12 AM

I thought Animal Farm was by Vonnegut?
lol...I'm probably wrong.

1984 was by George Orwell...When I think of that, I think of the movie Brazil.
Wow, was THAT movie ever a trip!

I just haven't been on much.
Today I shopped with hubby for his son and family who are arriving on Wed.
I've started wrapping the grandkid's presents.

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 06:19 PM

Nope. Should be Orwell.

Brazil??

I see. Get good presents?

Jeannesha 12-30-2014 08:31 PM

Well, hubby said I got too much, so I'm taking a few things back.
One was this little bead set, and in retrospect, I can see those little beads all over the house. So that one's going back.

Mostly it's craft-type stuff to keep them busy while they're here.

I looked all over for sidewalk chalk, but it's "out of season".

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 08:36 PM

haha. How old are the kids?

We got stuffed animal cute things for the girls and a robotic bug thing for the boy. Sidewalk Chalk is always cool though.

Jeannesha 12-30-2014 09:27 PM

The girl is 8 and the boy is going to be 6.

One thing is kinda kiddish, but I figure what the heck.
You can always use more markers and coloring stuff.

Kat Dakuu 12-30-2014 09:40 PM

Beads would go everywhere then. Markers really are nice. Crayons though~
My aunt got her grandkids those fuzzy boards from hobby lobby and both the boys and girls all loved them.
