I would love to live in a large city as a young adult; I want to go to Seattle or even Vancouver for a bit. But, as much as I love cities and traveling, I don't see myself settling in any other place than Alaska as a home.

Really? Alaska does seem like a very nice place to retire to.. but I wouldn't want to spend the majority of my life there.

It's not bad. I think if you've grown up here, at least in my circle of friends, everyone seems to enjoy Alaska enough to want to return when they're done with school and parties. I really love it here.
We get a lot of people that come up and try to get the dividend while not paying taxes, then leave when they've made enough money.
The military does it all the time. Anyone who does, or even used to live here gets money from the state, which aggravates me to no end.

Yes. Which is silly, in my opinion. At least, when you're so young. I know most of them did it because they wanted to be able to drink themselves into a stupor without their parents finding out as easily.

I'm going to the community college here, which will cost me about $6,000 a year. I'm taking the very same classes they are, and they're paying $35,000 a year.

That is silly.. just because they wanna be party animals without their parents finding out..
