My Dad was always upset when I didn't come home.

you guess, but only kinda right. I do want rps, but I was actually being nostalgic recently and missing how we used to chat as our characters. weird to bring up, but we've been talking about rendering dialogue in my class and I realized how good that practice was for realistic dialogue.....>.<

That's one of the first things that I notice about new authors...
Stilted dialogue.

It takes a special touch to get dialogue right in a book...

it's true. some people use wordy dialogue, some use way too much of it as if talking about everything will stand in for actions. or I've noticed this in other student writings in my class. lyrical writers have the hardest time with dialogue because they're so used to describing things rather than writing 'scenes'.

Stephen King does great with dialogue...

You can just hear people talking like that...

I've never actually read his stuff. I've seen a few movies, but didn't like them.

I was reading my critiques today from the short story I wrote for class. A few people basically said my dialogue sucked. -_- And someone said the story wasn't believable because of fantastical elements in it and particularly picked on the woman's red eyes, saying is was so strange that they couldn't take the story seriously.....She was an albino!! I know I didn't say plain out she was, but I thought it was obvious from the description. Geez people. I know i wrote most of the story at 4am when I woke up and realized I forgot to finish it before class, but I thought it was the best short story I've written.

I have so many issues with dialogue. I can write some things really well. Like if I want a character to sound like they're crying I can do it, but a normal conversation? they sound freakin' staged.

Haha, I'd love to do that again though kat. It might prove beneficial even with both of our rps...

I don't really know. I hate my own dialogue... but others don't seem to mind it too much. But as a general rule i hate my own writing. I know there was one piece I wrote the characters dialogue kinda purposefully stilted and it sounds so awful but it's what i wanted

I'd say both. Declan and Koda we could learn more about them. Issai and Sahen we might be able to actually get along.

I think stilted is right though. that's how people talk.

I am wary to use Declan and Koda because we run the risk of what happened with Armnyti and Seth where they revealed things in chats that needed to come out in their own time in the story, neh? I wonder if Sahen and Issai would actually talk to each other...
