There's this trope in the Glee fandom of soulmate fics where you have the name of your soulmate written on your hand.
But this fic I just found is a fun new take on it. So I'm excited

It's based of a Chinese legend about the Red String of fight. That each of us has a red string tied around our wrist that connect us to our soulmate. and that it may stretch and change shape over time but it will never break.
I've only read one fic based of that and it was a oneshot and was amazing.

red string of fate? I hope that's what you mean. I'm familiar with the tale. I read about the legend when I was a kid and have loved it since.
I've read a strange spin off the of the idea for zoro/sanji from one piece. a cupid god put the string on them and they couldn't go a more than a few feet away from each other.

I've read that twist on it before as well.
and the one I read it was pretty interesting because you could see the string around your wrist and it hung of a bit before it just vanished. and when you found your soulmate and recognized them it glowed and changed colors.

Basically. That's was the purpose of it.
It changed color for a few other things like if your soulmate died and maybe one or two others that I can't remember.

Oh then there was the one where you heard your soulmate's voice in your head every night when you went to sleep. that one was interesting.

yeah, its scary thinking about that. my roommate was vegetarian at the time and got cravings for beef in the middle of the night so we went to walgreens and bought soup and beef jerky and there went that.
