Wine doesn't effect me too much but I've never had more than like half a glass of it b/c I only kinda like wine. It's growing on me

I don't like the regular champagne stuff, but I had what was basically a sparkling sweet wine, so it was like champagne.

because he seems to think the reader needs both character's entire lives. and repeats some things. doesn't know how to condense backstory and that stuff.

yep. one of the character's is pretty interesting and I like his story, but the girl is always just having sex and not being awesome. she's the assassin, but she's pretty lame.

the book really has nothing to do with 1984 though. if anything, the themes run completely opposite. 1Q84 states that history cannot be changed. there is only one reality and it is always the same.

I get the feeling that the characters aren't important at all to the story though. they're just a modem for telling it. that's why the girl is so shallow and the guy so pathetic. I think its a total lie that 1Q84 has anything to do with 1984. IQ84 isn't a dystopian story. it talks about a religious dystopian cult, but its so far not a main part of the story.

mmkay. I'll take your word for it I guess, but I still have a feeling the author is playing with that. reaction novels/poems/stories are often quite dissimilar to the thing they are reacting to for effect.

I guess. so far, the cult is coming off as one of the most insignificant points. the tax collector is more important and he has no meaning that I can figure out.
