More expensive I can understand, but it's not exactly abnormal for people our age to life alone.

Sounds like my family. It's something like hell spending a summer in the same house as them even if I like it most of the time.

I am so glad I managed to get out of that this summer. I don't think I could have done it.

I only survive because it's just me and my mom most of the time. It's my dad I don't like to spend large amounts of time around.

see, it's me and my mom a lot of the time, and she's the one i have the most trouble with extended exposure to.

though my dad was bothering me a lot this trip. i've never really paid that much attention before to how racist and homophobic a lot of his jokes are

I don't i ever really realized it, or let it bother me before? I just kinda brushed it off as something that was just inherent to my dad and it wasn't born out of malice just ignorance, but it really started to bother me this past week.
There was one point where I even just flat out told him one of his jokes wasn't funny

But I figure, I stop even pretending to laugh at the jokes. I let my dad know that I find them offensive, etc.

I think that's the best you can do. There's not really much you can do to change things I think...not now.

Parents tend to be pretty set in there ways

and you really can't pick your parents. you just get stuck with them and their ways.

oh another thing that was so weird about this vacation and i knew it would be going in. is i hate being the only single person in my family.
