either way, we need our daily dose of cute.
I just remembered something else I should do. i should update my art contest. I have more scenes from my novel to put in and I might as well throw in Gary and William kissing. |
well declan and koda are good for that.
yeah that's a scene that would be nice to have drawn |
I hope I can get some decent art from some of my scenes. I also REALLY want some couple art.
lol, so I'm looking at this guy's profile on eharmony and he knows what a direct object is. For some reason, this really makes me like the guy. Since when did direct objects become important to me? |
i want you to get art too!
that's cool. however why is that on his profile? and you're a writer and knowing how language works is usually a sign of intelligence |
I'm glad it's not just me.
there's a q&a section that has all sorts of things on it. Like all sorts of things. One of the questions asks you to find the DO in a sentence. usually, but I think the amount of the population that knows what a direct object is, is very small. |
nope, i'd draw it for you but an artist i am not
that is really really random. and i don't know i think a DO is more obvious than other stuff but then my usually crowd is writing tutors and english majors |
oh well. If I nag the art forums enough, eventually I'll get something good.
Perhaps, but I like all the random questions. It's good for getting to know someone before you start talking. I remember what it is and I don't remember all the little terms, but I really think a lot of people never learned what a DO is. |
that's the theory anyway
yeah, i mean it's a good idea. doesn't stop it from being random I don't know. I mean it still seems a little like one of the simple grammar terms to me |
I've managed to get a few good things. Most of what I've gotten is just 'okay' but a few pieces I really like.
whatever. You know how I feel about random. I think if I weren't a writer and inclined to remember things like that, I would know what a DO is. |
what are in the really like stack??
maybe I guess. I live in a skewed world a bit b/c like most of the people i know know what a DO and an IO are. |
The full body drawing of Kat, a head shot of Chi, and the one I paid real money for of Shin. That might be about it for the really worth it stack. Most of what I have is just headshots though.
I don't remember IO actually. Which one is that? |
nice.
the indirect object? |
yeah. which part of the sentence is that?
|
um let me see if i can come up with an example sentence.
She bought the car for him. So in this the DO is the car and the Io is "for him" because that's who the action is directed at. |
okay. I figured it was something like that.
|
yeah, it's not that hard of a concept but i've seen it baffle more than a few people.
now my grammar thing that I don't get and can never identify is the difference between a transitive and intransitive verb |
I understand grammar very well (I think) but I don't always remember all the terms for things. I was always terrible at names!
I think I learned about that in my american grammar class, but I don't remember it at all! |
When I took my English grammar class, I tried to remember the terms for things. It seems appropriate for an English major to know and remember those terms.
Yeah, I learned it in my English grammar class and it was one of the things I struggled with |
very much so. You should know the terms. It's just been three years or whatever since I took my grammar class and people don't use those things in normal conversation in my classes.
|
I think I took mine my sophomore year, so it's been awhile for me too
|
i don't have that kind of memory to remember things over that length of time.
|
for some things I do. for others I don't.
|
That's about how most people are.
|
yeah, mine's more of if i set out to remember it, i usually can
|
yay, I have the house to myself until some time wednesday!
