I do watch some real-life movies, ya know! [lol] I think there was one where Will Smith played that guy who was homeless and later became a successful broker...[ninja]
It seems like an interesting thriller movie [eager] But yeah, I can see why the guy would remind you of creeper!Assangebatch. [XD]

Sorry, I don't [gonk] It was a while ago and I read it over at a friend's house; she buys tons and tons of books all the time, and then sells/gives them all away soon after. [XD];;

I used to watch Ellen every day for a few months. XD I don't know what happened though. I just suddenly lost interest. I watch it every once in a while, but I'm usually at my computer; so I'm not watching much tv anyway.

Ah yeah, that's the risk you take when you make decisions! It mostly just depends on how comfortable I am in a situation. Like if I suddenly got a job and was told to make decisions about something, I'd be like "uh wut..." but here on Mene, I'm comfortable at least proposing things. [yes]

Ohh! Uh... Something about happiness. xP I hardly remember that movie, but I feel like it was a good one. As long as it's not horror, I'm pretty open to watching whatever. Though I definitely prefer more upbeat or action-oriented stuff.
That one is... kind of neither of those, but it was still good! Would not watch again because kind of depressing. xP
Assangebatch. [rofl]

Ah, no worries. I actually have quite a few books I need to read. I seem to keep acquiring them without having the time/energy to read them. [ninja]
That sounds pretty smart of her though! Guaranteed to always have money to buy more. [rofl]

Yeah...I rarely watch TV anymore either these days. Only when I'm eating a bento or something [XD]

True...If it's something I know a lot about and etc, I'd be more comfortable with making a decision. But if it's something I'm not familiar with, get it awaaaaay [gonk];;

Same...I can watch pretty much anything, though historic stuff usually bores me to tears, family dramas, romance, and etc are boring too...I still have no idea why so many people liked movies like August: Osage County or that one featuring a woman I can't remember the name of...Blue- something. Won a few Oscars if I remember right. [sweat] Also don't like to watch stuff that has sad endings.
Yep, Assangebatch. Seriously there are so many -batch names I don't even know where people come up with them sometimes. [lol] There's gingerbatch, auburnbatch, creepybatch, Oscarbatch, sexybatch, Khanbatch...and then there are the Cumber- stuffs. Cumberpointing, cumberbomb, cumbersmile, ...like wth people! [rofl]

She probably has thousands of books, though she gave away most of her manga collection. Though her room's huge though so it's not like there's a lack of space to hoard all those books...[lol]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-07-2014 10:09 AM

But! We do watch shows. [rofl]

So true. [gonk] I'm sure that could be said for a lot of people. It's those crazy confident people that you hear about that make decisions or pretend they're people or professions they're not. Crazy, but kind of admirable in a way, how gutsy they are. XD

Ooh yeah. Historic stuff. Unless it's something told in an interesting way maybe. P: Like this book I read for school had some history stuff in it, but because the author presented in a more interesting way, it was more fun to read and easier for me to remember. Sort of. Stuff like dates and all that, I have a hard time remembering. Darn numbers! [illgetu]
Ooh Blue Jasmine. I haven't watched that. We usually end up getting more interested in the nominees after we watch the Oscars. I wouldn't mind watching Blue Jasmine or a few of the other ones.
Ooh yeah, sad endings too. Oh man. Like, damn, we have enough of that in real life! [gonk]

Lmfao!!! I had no idea! [rofl] Omg... I know a great one. I wonder if it's been done before. Omg, it has. [rofl]
I was thinking of CuCumberbatch.

I knew someone like that in high school. She's how I ended up kind of getting into manga and how I read most of what I did probably. [lol] It was kind of nuts how much she had (like a small trailer full) and to how many people she lent them out too. It was really cool.

ClockReject 03-07-2014 02:31 PM

I can't even.

...I could've sworn I answered this post ages ago! Wth brain!! [gonk] *facedesk*

I still watch the occasional show or two, but only for like maybe a total of four hours a week or something. [lol]

lol So true. I don't think I can ever be someone like that unless I know just about everything in that profession and have had a ton of experience, etc. [sweat]

Ugh, I hate all the dates and stuff. [headdesk] Doesn't help that just about all the emperors have near-identical names/titles after death too, makes memorizing them so much more harder. Ancient people, stop making things so difficult for us modern people! [headdesk]
Hahaha, my dad originally had no interest in 12 Years A Slave, but after seeing me go crazy while watching the Oscars and then reading about it in the news the next day, he went and got it and watched it and said that it was pretty good. [XD] I still likely won't watch it though...I just hate reading/watching slavery-themed stuff so much. [gonk]

lmao Yeah that was one of the first things I thought of too. [rofl] Actually I originally thought his name had something to do with cucumbers, back when I first heard of him and couldn't even remember what his first name was. [sweat] I think I kept thinking it was something that began with A or whatnot...[sweat];;;
But yeah, cucumbers. [rofl] *cackles*
I think BC himself mentioned that as one of his nicknames (something about it being one of the first kinds of nicknames he gets) back in school during an interview on a TV show once...[XD]

Wow, that is cool! [shock] I can't imagine having so many books...we literally have no place to store that many books in our home! One day, when I get a mansion, I swear I will have my very own private library like the kind with shelves that go up to the ceiling...one day...[illgetu]

I think they said it was going to have to be around 2016 after all...and that's probably if we're lucky. [sweat]

Martin and Benedict are waaay too popular right now and super-busy so according to Gatiss and that other guy (one of these days, I will remember his name...Stephen something? Moffat??) they're still trying to find a time to be able to get the two when they're not swamped with full schedules.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-18-2014 02:23 PM

@Clock: Wow really? Seems fast!

@Nim: [lol] No worries. I do that a lot too.

I've been trying to knock out shows to watch. So far so good. Still have a couple left that we're behind on. Uh.. Band of Brothers and ... Agents of Shield. I liked Band of Brothers but it was kind of dreary so I've been avoiding watching it. XD
War stuff.

Haahah! Yeah! Is it is easier/harder for you to remember Asian names versus English names? Or do you notice any difference at all? [:O] Asian names are harder for me to remember. But really I suppose most names that aren't more typical English names. [lol]

Well, it has a happy ending at least! For the main character anyway. [ninja]

Really?? [rofl] That's funny if so. I mean, it's really easy to make the association so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got the nickname back in school. [lol]

--
I'm excited for the next Hobbit movie. [eager]

Antagonist 03-18-2014 03:09 PM

Oh yeah! I thought Agents of Shield was a movie at first! [lol] I'll have to try and get that and watch it...heard that Coulson is in it, alive and well. [:O]
What's Band of Brothers about? I think you mentioned it once but I can't remember...[sweat]

English names is much easier for me to memorize. Heck I even know how to spell Arnold Swartzeneggar without having to look it up! But give me one of those damn Chinese emperor names...I can never tell them apart. It's also hell trying to remember people's names in every day life unless it's a really unique or rarely-seen one. [headdesk]

Yeah...he finally got his life back in the end I think? But still...it's definitely not a happy movie and I'd likely want to kill something watching it. [no]

Hahaha yeah. [XD] If I'm going to give him a nickname it'll probably be that too. [lol] I mostly use 'BC' irl though, easier to pronounce and stuff. My stupid stiff tongue usually has trouble pronouncing his name when I try to say it. I was so glad that I actually managed to say it without stumbling over it the other day during my entrance exam interview when the examiner asked me who my favorite actor was. [XD];;;

--

Me too! [eager]
Even though I'll be sad to see Smaug go. [lol]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-21-2014 08:58 AM

You should! [eager] I'm starting to really like it now that I'm watching it again. It's kind of one of those shows that I can get into easily but also drop easily. Well... that's most things for me I think. [XD] It's getting pretty dark though. [gonk] I thought it was going to be more like Avengers... Nope. It goes to some creepy and dark places. I mean, it's still got some funny parts yeah, but man... -shudders-
But yes! Coulson is alive!

Band of Brothers~ Uh... war stuff.
Quote:

The story of Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division and their mission in WWII Europe from Operation Overlord through V-J Day.
Actually interesting to watch, but loooong episodes. TV mini-series and all that. Like Sherlock I suppose.

Really? [:O] I guess that makes sense since there's only 26 letters.. so it's easier in that way. If they're fantasy names though... I still have trouble with those. And names in general. Don't know how many times I would have to go back through a book trying to sort names and people out. [lol]

Yeah he did. Oof, no watching for you then! Ironically, I saw B.Batch on tv yesterday afternoon. I had the tv on in the living room, but I was in my office and I walked to the living room to get something and saw that he was coming on on this talk show. So I stayed and watched. Thought it was funny he went by his first and middle name when he first started acting and stuff. And didn't realize that that super blonde guy he was playing was a real guy. That Wikileaks guy. And he wrote him a letter and that guy wrote back. (And speaking of names, when I went to look the Wikileaks guy up, I got his name right the first time \ o /).

Lmfao! Why did the examiner ask you that? OH YEAH! You had your thing huh? Or did you? Yeah... Omg dates.. I can't remember those either. Well, how did it go?

True true.. Well. I'm fine without villains so.. you know. xP

Antagonist 03-21-2014 09:59 AM

[gonk] Really? Is Samuel Jackson in it? [:O] And what kinds of dark stuff do they do? [:(]

Oh...not very interested in realistic war stuff. [sweat] Every time my dad gets one of those war movies and ask if I want to watch it with him I don't feel very enthusiastic about it. [XD];;

If it's a very difficult-to-spell name, like on of those Arabian names and stuff, I'd have trouble remembering them too. But if it's names like, I dunno, Daenarys, I can usually remember them after seeing it a few times. [lol] I have an easier time remembering names, but I have a hell of a time matching the name to a person's face. [sweat] I'm so bad at recognizing people it's a good thing I'm not a spy or anything, I'd suck at it so bad. [rofl]

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...Smileys/OO.gif
......http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...Smileys/OO.gif
Whyyyyyyy [gonk]
I wanna see him on TV too!! http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...mileys/sob.gif
Oh yeah, I read on Wikipedia about how his first manager (I think that's what they're called...?) recommended that he not use his last name because it was too weird and possibly difficult for people to remember. [XD] His dad didn't use it either, and goes by Timothy Carlton instead of Timothy Cumberbatch. After Benedict changed managers though the new one recommended that he use his real last name because it was more eye-catching and interesting. [lol]
I know the Wikileaks guy was a real person because I had a vague memory of the whole Wikileaks thing happening back when it happened, I just didn't remember the name of him until I got into the whole BC thing and was looking up things about him everywhere. [rofl]

It went surprisingly well! [eager] I was so nervous about it because the university where I work at has a higher standard or something and the questions I encountered were super difficult so I was thinking of the worst when I went...but I needn't have worried because they turned out to be super easy instead. [sweat] (Though now I'm worried that it's too easy and therefore wouldn't be good enough to separate the good from the bad...) The questions and exams were all like, high school level or something...or at least it felt that way to me. [sweat] The written exam I pretty much breezed through though I almost ran out of time because I wrote too much for the essays, and all the oral questions were simple questions like, "What are your favorite books?", "What are your favorite movies?" "Are you close to your family?", etc. I was like, seriously?? [lol] I had no trouble answering them and just rambled on and on and got through it in no time at all. [XD]
Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope I'm accepted! I've got a 15/34 chance of getting in and hopefully my rambling worked in my favor! [eager]

lol Yeah I know he's going to end up dead already, and that dragons are rarely seen in a good light in these kinds of stories anyway so I'd be surprised if Smaug survived. [lol]

---------- Post added 03-21-2014 at 05:59 PM ----------

Uh...wow, sorry for the tl;dr! Didn't notice I'd typed that much. [sweat]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-24-2014 09:44 AM

Ehh, he's not in it that much. The main person from the movies that's in the show is Coulson. The rest are people that aren't from the movies. Sometimes there's people from the movies though. Like Fury and Lady Sif. Just for like an episode or even less.
I don't know how to explain the dark stuff without spoiling. XDD Experimental dark stuff?

Me either. [lol] But once in a while I get pulled into one and it's not too bad.

Hahah! I remember people's faces a lot better than names. I don't know what it is. Probably just a lack of trying to remember it in the first place. [lol] There was one fantasy series I read that I kept forgetting the names, but I can't even remember the name of the series! [rofl] Watching Game of Thrones on tv, I get their names all mixed up or forgotten too. [lol]

[rofl] Why to which part? [rofl]
You might be able to find the interview online or something. It was on Katie Couric tv show. Yeah! He used to go by Benedict Carlton. [lol] That sounds really weird! But ah well. I feel like every famous person, their name doesn't have a ring to it until they do become famous. Or something like that, you know? [:P]
That Wikileaks guy is kind of scary to me. [ninja] Not like, he physically looks scary, but just... I don't know. Something about him. Maybe the letter he wrote back to B.Batch too.

That's great! [eager] Wow! If definitely sounds like it was easy for you! [lol] At the very least, it probably helped you calm down for it. Those questions do seem super easy though. [rofl] Crazy! I guess it helps a lot when you frequent English sites.
Hope it's worked in your favor too! [eager]

Man, what a twist that would be. [rofl] I want to know more about Legolas's dad and his encounter with dragons. [ninja]

No problem! Oh, did you ever go by the post office to see about your address? I looked online and reformatted what you gave me and then printed out the Chinese one too. Think I'm going to send you a card to see if it gets to you first. XD

Antagonist 03-25-2014 01:42 AM

@Clock: *pokes* [poke]

@Iku: Oh, Sif appears too? Cool. [eager]
I guess it would be harder to get people like Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston on the show though. [lol]
Hmm...is it like problems with morality, ethics kinds of dark stuff?

Yeah...I'm still debating over whether or not to watch Parade's End because of this, and when I'll ever get around to watching it if I do. [gonk] Not entirely sure if it's focused on the feelings aspect or the war; I just know there's a war going on in it and the main guy is a soldier. [XD]
Still don't like Saving Private Ryan, along with the other war types of films I've watched. [sweat] The Book Thief was surprisingly okay though, even though it was in a World War II setting.

I read a lot more than I watch, so I guess that's one of the reasons why I have an easier time remembering the names? [XD] Though I often mix up/forget the names if they're in Chinese, go figure...[headdesk]
But if the person has a 'not-generic' face then I tend to remember them more, even if I can't remember their names. Like Cillian Murphy or Nicholas Cage. Saw them a few times, couldn't remember their names, but their faces stuck. Took me quite a while before I finally eventually remembered their names. [lol]

Like, why don't we get BC on TV too?! I wanna see him on TV!! [rofl]
Though he did appear in a small news the other day on a news website...it was completely hilarious and I didn't think it had anything to actually do with Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman or that random guy standing behind them whose picture they used but for some reason the news said it does. Something about how there's currently a fashion trend around here of dressing up like British people because of Sherlock. My first reaction had been 'wtf'. [roll]

Ooh, I'll have to look it up tonight after I get home. [eager] *flaps arms around eagerly*
Hahaha yeah, though if I got into him and only knew him as Benedict Carlton, I probably wouldn't have thought it was weird, and would think Cumberbatch sounded super-weird and -off instead. [XD]
Hmm, I don't really know much about Julian Assange to have a solid opinion on him, though he kind of comes off to me as a bit of a creeper. [sweat]
And damn, that letter! I'd hate to get that if I were the actor playing him. It felt super intimidating. And receiving it on the day you were about to start playing him with makeup all applied and stuff, too! [lol];;

Yeah...I suppose for people who don't use English on a regular basis the questions can be a bit scary. [lol] I'm guessing they want to see how people express themselves and how fluent they are or something, though I hadn't anticipated in them actually asking such 'free' questions instead of something more academic. [lol]

Oh yeah, I want to see more of that too! That wound on his face is rather ghastly. [gonk] I can't really remember anymore but I think it was mentioned in the books? Something about how the wound would eventually kill him?? [:?]

Gah! I forgot with everything going on, sorry!! [gonk] I'll go ask later today once we finish up that conference with the profs, hopefully. [gonk];;;

-noms on Clock- [drool]
Omg, I just now realized that your sig name has faces in it! [rofl]

@Nim: Yup! [eager] She's there for the whole episode too!
And yeah. I imagine those guys are busy with filming and maybe the tv show can't afford them. [ninja]
Ahh.. yeah. [gonk]

Maybe read some more about it to see if you should watch it? [:O]
I hardly remember Saving Private Ryan. [lol] I usually enjoy some war-set films after I watch them, but I don't go looking to watch them. Oh I have that book downloaded on my iPad. I need to finish reading it. [ninja] I'm so burnt out with reading though. [lol]

I go for the flashy media version instead of the book version when it comes to stuff that has both. [XD] That makes sense you would remember names better since you're actually seeing them though. [yes]
I think some names I pick up on quickly. Cillian Murphy being one. [XD] Maybe depends on how interesting I find their character/the actor.

-snort-! Oh, but would you be able to hear his voice? Do English things get subbed or dubbed on tv there? Or does it depend on the program?
Lmao, really?! Isn't it too hot to be dressing like people living in the cold/rainy weather of England? [XD]

I know! I'd feel bad playing the character if I got a letter like that. [gonk] But maybe this is why we're not actors. [rofl]

Ah you're right. It probably is kind of clever of them to ask questions like that since you actually have to kind of form the opinions and sentences yourself. [:O]
Conversational English and all that.

Really?! [gonk] I think I just want to see him be a badass and not a scared prissy king hiding in his place. [XD]

No problem! I think I have all that I need really, just wanted to see if you had anything extra to add. Some site suggested breaking down the Chinese into a similar format like how you broke down the English part. Instead of the line of Chinese, multiple lines of it. But I don't know how to do that. [ninja] Well, I could probably figure it out, but I think it will be okay. XD

-snort-
I swear this always happens at least once when we actually talk.

Antagonist 03-25-2014 04:35 PM

I love the sig! It's really adorable with all the faces. [lol]

I think it's a combination of both. [XD]
Sif I think is not that popular an actress compared to Chris and Tom? I don't even know the actress' name. [sweat]

I want to, but at the same time I'm afraid of spoiling it for myself. [lol];; I remember staying away from reading anything about Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 for months and months because I haven't seen them yet at the time...[XD];;
I barely remember Saving Private Ryan too. [XD];; I think one of the teachers in high school played it for us during class one day...
I didn't know there was a Saving Private Ryan book! [:O] How is it so far? [XD]

If there's a flashy media version of it, I'd likely watch that over reading the book as well. [XD] If I liked the media version, then I'd maybe go look for the book version of it. Cillian Murphy actually took me a while to remember. I could remember his face easily (I really liked his character in Batman as the Scarecrow, though it took me a few moments before I recognized him as the same person playing Fisher in Inception...which for some reason I couldn't remember the name of and kept thinking of 'Indecent' instead. wtf brain. [headdesk]), but not the actor's name for some reason. [XD];;

It'd be a crime if they dubbed over BC's voice!! A crime I say!!!! [illgetu]
Usually they're just subbed, if it's something like the news...if it's on a channel like Animal Planet or something, then it might get dubbed. I hate dubs so much. [headdesk]
Iknowrite?! [XD] And it's just this one person who called together a gathering of roughly a hundred people or so online and everyone dressed up in suits and stuff. Hardly a trend! [lol] The quality of our news media here is abysmal. *shakes head*

Hahaha true [XD] Or we'd be actors that don't send mail to the person we're playing before the filming...[sweat]

I don't think he actually went out to war in the books? I can't quite remember...but the burn on his face was slowly killing him no matter if he went to battle or not. It's like a slow-poison...he'd heal it, but it'd come back again, and he can't fully get rid of it so eventually it'll continue to spread and then kill him. I can't remember where in the book this was mentioned...

Even if you broke it down at random intervals it should still work as long as it's not half a number, I think. [XD]

lol Yay for multi-conversations going on at the same time! http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...leys/dummy.gif

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 03-27-2014 06:53 AM

It is! [lol]

Probably. And yeah, I don't know her name either. [ninja]

Ahh okay. I didn't know if you were fine with knowing or what. Couldn't remember how you were about that. [lol] I'm excited for the new Captain American. [eager] It's gotten really great reviews so far (but of course, a limited amount of people have watched it). /tangent
I don't remember where I watched Saving Private Ryan.. Probably multiple places.
Oh! I meant The Book Thief. I have that book downloaded on my iPad. [lol] I didn't get very far into it though.

Yeah that! If I like the movie/show enough, I'll read the book. I've actually started reading The Devil Wears Prada book because of that. Well, and because there's a second book now and I want to read it, but I wanted to read the book first. [XD]
Cillian's Scarecrow is awesome. I love how he's like the only villain that lived and is in all three movies. [lol] Christopher Nolan, the director, really liked his eyes and so he kept coming up with ways to make him remove his glasses. [XD] Or something like that I think.
I used to think his name was pronounced like "Kill-ian" instead of "Sill-ian." Have you seen Tron? He's in that too. ;D

I'm neutral about dubs. Depends on the material I guess. Although I will say that I'm glad they don't dub over the English here when the movies come out. Well, they do sometimes, but most of the time they just put Turkish subtitles.

Hahah! That's still kind of hilarious though. [rofl] Obviously doubtful if it will catch on. Probably definite not in the summer!

We'd play only made up people. [ninja]

Oh dang. D: I just thought it was a scar or something and he used magic to keep it concealed. Not a living wound/poison. Dayum!

Woot! Once we get paid on the.... next Monday, I should be able to send it out. And then we can see how long it takes to reach you. [rofl]

Woop! Talented. [cool]

...Okay, I went and looked her up. It's Jaimie Alexander, currently 30 years old. [XD] Haven't heard of the name before...but she's still young so I guess she'll have plenty of opportunities to become super-famous one day in the future. [yes]

It depends...the ones I don't really care about I don't care if people spoil it for me, but if it's something I'm really looking forward to watching myself, I don't want to be spoiled. I was so angry I accidentally spoiled myself with a few Thor 2 screenshots and comments on Facebook! Even though it had been months since the movie was released already by then. [lol]
Oh yeah! I want to watch the Winter Soldier too! Even though I accidentally spoiled myself with that too with the extra credits part in Thor 2. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...eys/5oxlp4.gif

Oh! [sweat] Have you seen the film? What's it like compared with the book? [:O]

lmao Really?! [XD] I didn't know that, though I do agree he has really striking eyes. [:O]
Killian? I've never thought of his name pronounced like that, but it doesn't sound too bad either. [eager] I haven't seen Tron before. What's it about?

If the dub's good, then I wouldn't mind so much...but unfortunately the dubs here aren't good, so...[sweat]

lmao Yeah, definitely not in the summer. [lol]
I'm guessing that's one of the reasons why we could never be all 'uniformed' like the Japanese...while there on vacation, their underground subway is like a stream of people all wearing ties and suits and carrying suitcases, but here it's like, blah, everyone's wearin' their own thing. [lol]

Oh yeah. I'd much rather play made-up people. [lol]
If someone ever made a documentary about me, I'd feel weird watching someone playing me too. [XD];;

I can't for the life of me remember where I'd read that though! [gonk] I'm guessing it should be in the Hobbit maybe? [sweat]

Yay! [lol] I still need to buy some local stuff to send to you. Maybe snacks and stuff. Need to find something that won't crumble from being bumped around. [ninja]

Anta

I haven't talked to you in a while.
I feel like I'm slacking as a friend.
How are you doing?

I hope you're doing well.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Sorry I haven't been around in a while.

I feel so bad now D:
*hugs tightly*

Antagonist 03-31-2014 12:52 AM

It's okay, from what I've seen on my Facebook feeds you've had your hands full; I hope things are going okay with you. [hug] [heart]

I've been doing okay, mostly just trying to keep myself in a relatively good mood and getting things done at work. [yes]

CosmicFoxKitty 03-31-2014 04:05 AM

Things are going as good as they can be... my medicine is making some muscles randomly spasm... they call it tics but whatever lol I'm calling the doctor about it tomorrow./

I woke up and wanted to check on mene before going back to bed.

It's always good to be in a goodd mood, but why are you having to force it?
