Today was zipping by, now it's died.

Waiting to see if anyone needs help with anything, but so far...everyone else is done as well. *sighs* I know there are checks to be done, but the team lead has disappeared, what a shock.

EternalHearts 07-01-2009 01:16 AM

It was a pretty busy day for me...thank the gods this is a short week (and I have like, 2 hours worth of meetings tomorrow...), we get out at 2 on Thursday and are off Friday. Hopefully I actually get out of bed at a reasonable hour Friday and can play here.

GeminiKizzy 07-01-2009 03:18 AM

We are worth getting up early for, right? *big puppy-dog eyes*

Queen_Andais 07-01-2009 04:40 AM

That's right Gemini, guilt her into it.

Yeah well, right after I posted that...I was asked to stay an additional two hours. *screams* Cannot stand how inept people at my job can be sometimes. Rather then ask for help, let people know that they are in need of assistance, they say nothing until the very last minute. Grrr. Which means that I get to step in at the last minute and try to fix as many things as possible.
Very frustrating picking up other people's slack and then being told that you have a complaint against you for walking around the office, talking to people. My work can fuck off for all I care. Their sense of handing out praise blows.

GeminiKizzy 07-01-2009 04:31 PM

That sucks, Queeny. Maybe next time that happens you should suddenly fall ill and not be able to help them. Let them deal on their own. Yeah, I know what you are thinking - you can't do that - I wouldn't be able to either. However, it is fun to imagine them trying to take care of things on their own. I'm getting known as the Mom at work not just because I am the only mom but also because if people need help I step in and do what I can.

Queen_Andais 07-01-2009 04:58 PM

Pretty much how it goes down for me as well. Tend to be the one that comes in and cleans up the messes because I keep my head about me, get things organized and going in the right direction. At the moment, I do a multitude of things for our group. Uploading documents, abstracting/recording, processing NODs, entering checks on the registry. All kinds of fun stuff.

Still amazes me that people either complain that I am not social enough, or too social. Just doesn't seem to be a happy medium of any sort. :stare: Everyone needs to make up their minds what they want me to be. The hard worker that doesn't say much, or the slacker that walks around and doesn't get their job done. Our unit as too many of the latter, so I will stick with actually doing my work.

Bilbo 07-01-2009 06:31 PM

UGH!!! Queen, that's terrible. Maybe you should try to work slower so you can avoid having to do everyone else's work?

GeminiKizzy 07-02-2009 12:33 AM

Go on a vacation so that they will appreciate you more. At least I'm hoping I'll be appreciated after I get back. I've done a lot w/the files w/out even a thank you.

Queen_Andais 07-02-2009 05:48 AM

My avp pulled me into his office for the mid year review and I was told that I am getting a 2 percent raise.:squee: A big part of me getting the raise... I am a fast learner, get my stuff done. Viable asset to the team and a hard worker all around.
I will be gone for a week in september. Plenty of time for them to sit there and see how much doesn't get done when I am not there.

EternalHearts 07-02-2009 10:18 PM

Oh Queen, that is absolutely wonderful news!! Congratulations, you definitely deserve it.

Jaz 07-02-2009 10:28 PM

Congrats on the raise Queeny!

Queen_Andais 07-02-2009 10:38 PM

2 percent is nothing more then 32 cents. Woohoo! :stare:

Better then nothing, some people didn't get a raise.

You say I deserve it when while I am sitting here at work talking to you guys. Working hard. Har har

EternalHearts 07-03-2009 03:47 AM

Like you said, ANY raise is a good raise--too many people are losing their jobs.

You may be sitting at work chatting with us, but only when you are able--if you have work to do, you do it. And there is enough written around here about how much you help out with everyone else. You deserve more, but we ARE in a recession.

Queen_Andais 07-03-2009 04:28 PM

Not complaining about the raise at all. We might be in a recession, but here at work we are full steam ahead. Heh.

Where exactly do you live Jessi? This way I can scout out how close Navy Bases are and how plausible it would be for Rodd and I to move out there. Should find out if there is anyway for me to transfer internally to something out there.

Jaz 07-03-2009 04:56 PM

*runs around thread* Dillon is suppose to be getting his last "optional raise soon" It is never never anything significant but it is better then nothing. And I will begin watching my niece in a week or so for some extra money around the house... Though I am not sure which amount she is going to be paying I gave her two options since her schedule varies so much one will be good if she winds up working only a couple shifts a week ($20 a day) the other is good if she works a ton of shifts a week ($50 a week) (I think this one is more likely because it is less the half, probably closer to a quarter, of what she would wind up paying in a daycare and if she works 6 days one week and 2 the next it balances out)

Queen_Andais 07-03-2009 05:25 PM

Yeah, sounds fair for all parties involved. Most people freak out when they hear my babysitting rates, $2.50 an hour per kid. Most people think I am crazy for charging that low, but I used to babysit for a lot of single mothers. My rates were what they could afford.

EternalHearts 07-03-2009 06:56 PM

That does sounds fair Jaz. Good luck with it--I need to figure out some means of making a little extra income.

Queen, I'm in MA, close to Boston. I don't think we have any bases in MA, but there may be one in Rhode Island or New Hampshire.

Queen_Andais 07-03-2009 07:09 PM

Which is just a stone throw from where you are, right? I could handle that. But it gets damn cold up there, doesn't it? Not sure how well I would do in freezing temps like that. Or if Fflur would forgive me for moving out there when she finally made it back over to the West coast. >.<

EternalHearts 07-03-2009 09:42 PM

HEHEHE. It does get really cold up here in the winter. But less so than Montana!

Okay, I'm having a dilemma--someone posted about a Zucchini Lasagna the other day and I'm trying to find the recipe but haven't had any luck so far. Anyone remember this discussion? If so, can you copy-paste the recipe here or link me? Thanks!!!

Queen_Andais 07-03-2009 10:23 PM

That was either in Sia's thread, Mel's thread or.... let me go dig around.

I found it for ya. It was in Sia's thread. But for your viewing pleasure I have copy quoted it.

Queen, you are wonderful! I was paging through everyone's threads, but I knew I missed one or two.

GeminiKizzy 07-04-2009 01:46 PM

Argh! My tummy is grumbling now! I'm outta here to get some breakfast - talk to you all when I'm full.

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!

I use to charge 2 dollars an hour for fully potty trained kids and 3 dollars an hour for kids in diapers.... Until I got this family with two little girls (when Mikes was a little over a year) and the oldest was 4 and the youngest was the same age as Mikes and would SCREAM anytime he would even walk near her! The kids were always FILTY, their mom would leave and say be back in 2 hours and come back 3 hours later and would sit a gab while her kids continued to run a muck and I continued to chase them! Now I'd probably charge 4 dollars for a potty trained child and 5 for not but that is only if they are wanting babysitting and not a consistent care... Unless I know the family well! I haven't officially figured out what I want to do once I open my daycare!

Bilbo 07-06-2009 05:06 PM

Jaz, see what prices in your area are--that info should be fairly easy to get--and price yourself comparably.

Queen_Andais 07-06-2009 05:22 PM

My rates used to be $2, but with the economy the way it was before, had to increase by 50 cents. For me it doesn't matter if the kids are potty trained or in diapers, $2.50. I'm cheap, what can I say. However, I provide a very great service. The house gets cleaned and the same goes for the kids. Regardless of whether or not they want the house picked up, it gets done. Kitchen, living room, dining room. I don't do bathrooms :gonk: That is something they can do.
