It just makes me sad when it is allowed in an avi contest really... Cause I have to buy any new items I want to use. While others can use any items :(

It's still being beta tested. Like the games for Swagbucks. Not everyone can get those extra few bucks everyday. I'm not quite sure how it was determined for them, but it was easy enough for mene to just open up the Dream avatar creator to the small number of donators. Why not give them a perk for helping the site? There's a pathetically small number of people that DO donate so I see no reason to be bitter about it. I get that you don't spend money on sites like this Jaz, but they take a hell of a lot of money to run, and when the DAC goes live for everyone, if there is even one glitchy thing like the color yellow not beinging up search results, there is going to be a lot of hate stuff for the staff to wade though. At least this way, it's a private forum, it's got a relatively small number of people looking into it, and it is much less hate filled then if everyone was able to access it.

I am not bitter that it is exclusive to donators like I said... When it becomes live to all members I am not really likely to use it that much..... I am bitter that I can't afford old or new DI's (which by the way are perks to "donating" to Mene) and old event items that I missed or what have you. But in certain Avatar contests it is permitted to use the Dream Avatar Creator which theoretically should have all those items in there somewhere. That means they can use items that are probably near impossible to even find on the market as something for a dress up contest even if they don't have it in their inventory :/

I'd donate to Mene more if we weren't so strapped for cash all the time though... Everything goes one way or another for use we barely have money at all by the 2nd of the month. So spending it on pixels seems very wasteful. If we had more money and the DI's intrigued me enough (like the damn kitty on Gaia that I will NEVER pay money for... I am the anti give Gaia more money miser...) but both of those things have to fall into place and they never really have... :/ If I have money the DI's are meh to me... If I don't I like em... Though I am not to fond of this months anyhow so not having money doesn't matter lol...

Wasn't Mene going to open a cash shop at sometime or did too many people complain about that... I know a lot of people were complaining that Mene would turn into Gaia...

You know... it would be kinda cute to have some mene gear... I really can't resist a hoodie and if they put yumeh or something like that on it... :squee: I'd be all over it like a cat on tuna.

The cash shop was never really shot down by gaia-scared nay-sayers. There was a thread in the feedback forum that stated how things would go, etc and that our shop wouldn't be much like theirs, normal updates wouldn't be neglected for cash updates and the like.
As for real gear, that was also brought up at one point, but I can't remember where, but I think the over all consensus of that was that it would cost more to create than people were willing to spend and so that was put on hold until a much larger user base is constructed I think. >.> I could be wrong, I don't think I ever finished going through that thread since it wasn't really a concern of mine. ^^;; However, I think people would be more likely to pay for RL stuff than pixel items, since you can use it more. Some of the yumeh stuff the avis have, like the scarf, hoodie etc would translate nicely to RL stuff. :3

Heck there could be a lot of of neat stuff translated into RL stuff like that flying kittah thing... lol... I never bought gaia stuff cause it was wayyyyy over priced imo.... I wonder if they didn't do it because of the cost for the things to be made... Cause that would translate into us paying a ton and them not making money in the end...

That would be my thought. It's expensive to customize things, and then if you don't have a user base that's totally adamant about purchasing the stuff, it's just going to cost you even more since you can't purchase what you want in bulk etc. It kinda sucks. But...I've considered making my own variations of some of the items we have here. Hairpins mostly. I think they would be completely divine! I just wish I had a JoAnns or a Micheals closer so I didn't have to drive up to VA anytime I thought about making something. >.<

I don't even know where a joanns is here so you're a step ahead of me! The closest Micheals is over 40 minutes away. Quite a drive for crafy supplies. :/

We have a Hobby lobby too..... a few yards from where JoAnn's is... I don't even know what a Michael's is... ><;; It is a 30 minute drive to the Mall so I feel ya!

Micheals...is like a larger Joanns with more art supplies. Granted I never went looking for art supplies at JoAnns so I could be wrong about that part...but the JoAnns I went to by my moms house seemed haphazardly thrown together kinda like a thrift store, where as Micheals seemed much more organized imo. But it could just have to do with the managers of each place. *shrugs*

You know that site where you pretty much design your own clothing? Oh man, i'm forgetting what it's called... oh yeah! Zazzle! They could open an account with Zazzle and then they design the things, you know, real art work from the people of mene and stuff and put it on all sorts of things. And since mene is copyrited, all the stuff would be as well. And it doesn't cost them a lot to make stuff because it's made on demand, so when someone orders something, then it's made. There isn't tons of boxes of stuff just sitting around gathering dust cause it's a size that no one needed. And that way mene could pull in a little extra cash. I know that they were having funding issues a little while back.

I know that there are a lot of people out there who do things like make caps with ears, cat ears, dog eats, bunny ears, fox ears etc... maybe they could talk with someone who makes those as well. Cut them in for part of the profit if they give them the designs. I actually have a cap with fox ears on it :oops: It's a little big for my head. For some reason I have an abnormally small head it seems, but it's still cute ^^

That is an interesting idea... They need to introduce them at an off time of year like in June or July 6 months away from Christmas so people are more likely to have money
