I hope he is able to go back to work sia.
Maeve, if you like the nature of the work, you don't necessarily have to like the industry. |
? Isn't it the same?
|
Good luck!
I know how you feel. I started playing while the Easter event was happening and I missed a lot. |
Thanks padfootsy!
Maeve, here's a good example. I work in Human Resources at a college. I LOVE working for a college--seeing the students, being able to take classes, the laid-back nature of a school rather than a business, etc. But I'm not so crazy about the JOB I do here. I don't like working with the staff and faculty; I'd much rather work with the students. But until something opens up, I'm going to stay where I am because the industry makes me happy, although the particular job doesn't. |
Exactly - he doesn't like watching baseball but he works in the clubhouse with the players. He likes the players, and likes what he does- but he doesn't watch the game for leisure or recreation.
I also am kind of in the situation like Eternal - I work at a University as a department secretary - I am the only staff member in my department with 10 faculty and 10 PhD students - I would prefer to work with more staff and students and less with faculty - but there hasn't been anything open. I like being at a University- the sense of purpose and the atmosphere is great- it's just that the faculty aren't so great a lot of the time. :/ |
There are two people in my office that don't like answering the phones or being customer service and that's 90% of what the company we work for does. Tell me how that's suppose to work.
Me, I love answering the phone and helping people. Of course not all calls are peaches and roses, but you work through them. |
I don't really like answering the phone - I much prefer to help people over email because it gives me more time to research the question and get a complete answer.
|
I don't like phone... my ears are not sharp enough. T_T
most of the time, the people on the other side need to repeat a sentence. |
>_< I hate phone calls
I hate them more at work then personal but all the same I don't like it I also hate working with people >.> Their so needy and a pain in the ass but on the other hand without them I'm not going to make any money |
awww? Lilim sounds like having bad luck with the people surrounding?
|
I'm not crazy about the phones either. People are far too pushy and rude over the phone. And I also have to be nicer than I sometimes want to be becasue they can hear me over the phone.
Sia, I don't blame you for disliking working with faculty members...I HATE when I have to interact with them. For all their awards and titles and whatnot, they are rude and arrogant and STUPID. |
I don't like speaking over phone and electronic things... my ears sometimes cannot listen clearly. T__T I prefer face to face.
|
Seriously - for all their degrees they are really stupid sometimes.
It boggles my mind that these people can't figure out how to work a photo copier, or the coffee maker  |
Or make a simple phone call themselves.
|
Or put their name on a form that says "Name" :?
|
lol, Eternal, that would be extreme? O_O
|
How do you mean?
|
How could there be anyone not knowing where to put their name in a form?!
|
Because they feel like they are too special for mundane tasks like completing forms, and want me to baby them through the entire process of completing their benefit applications.
It's not all of them, but enough of them are like this that it's not uncommon. |
DO they have difficulties in languages? XD
|
Not all of them.
|
Then, when I read your reply, I suddenly remember, there are quite a lot of people doesn't know how to read or write in the world MORE than you can think!
|
That's true- there are a lot of people who can't read/ write - but these people have PhDs and teach a universities - they can definitely read and write.
They're just self-entitled and thing things like filling out forms are 'below' them and that 'someone else' should do that for them  |
O_O then, they are just plain... amazing! O_O
*claps* |
Exactly sia.
Maeve, a lot of our faculty come from other countries as I work as a very prestigious university, but they typically have no issue with the forms, because they know it's part of working. It's those with the PhD's and all sorts of awards and prestige that appear as stupid. And these are all REALLY smart people. |
