So far so good, I haven't looked at my own front page yet...^.^;;

Bilbo 04-29-2008 07:29 PM

I have to say I'm not crazy with how my front page looks--I'm going to have to go in and do some tweaking. I also need to commission headers for each of the sections if I want it to look REALLY good.

xuvrette 04-29-2008 07:58 PM

I haven't really check mine too... lol.

t_4eva 04-30-2008 01:45 AM

What happened up there?? *points*

xuvrette 04-30-2008 02:09 AM

Nothing much happened...

t_4eva 04-30-2008 02:15 AM

There are like 8 identical posts in a row! Like some hell-glitching went on 0_o or maybe it's just me...

siaasgn 04-30-2008 01:37 PM

No - that happened in the switch - some posts just randomly duplicated many many times.

It had happened in my thread too - but Melody trashed the extra posts.

xuvrette 04-30-2008 01:56 PM

I have seen that thread in a few thread... my quest thread is like that. lol.

roocee 04-30-2008 03:05 PM

Man I'm so behind. Morning Jessi!!

EternalHearts 05-01-2008 03:33 AM

And I'm even further behind! I noticed those duplicated posts! I figured it was due to the server switch--well, at first I was going to yell at the person, but I realized that it wasn't just that post that had doubled. I'm glad I did because I would have felt terrible :(

So, I went to an informational meeting with the admissions department of the Graduate School program I want to pursue. It's a lot of information, and has left me with a lot of stuff to think about--like if I want to actually bite the bullet and apply for a September admission rather than waiting till next year. VERY scary thought, leaving my nice safe full-time job and going back to school full-time.

t_4eva 05-01-2008 04:48 AM

Oh I bet it would! A really full on decision, seen as you'd be loosing your regular income, and not one to be taken lightly! Good luck with deciding!

xuvrette 05-01-2008 09:12 AM

I don't understand? Why suddenly want to continue sutdies? x.x

luckycharm 05-01-2008 12:13 PM

That is a pretty scary thing to do, but sometimes it's worth it.

siaasgn 05-01-2008 01:21 PM

Oh wow - that is a big decision.

There aren't any part time programs available in what you want so you can keep working and go to school at night?

That's what I did for grad school - only took 2 years to get the degree at 2 classes a term (Drexel operates on a quarter system so we have 4 terms a year) - not sure how a part time degree in a semester school would work out.

Lilim 05-01-2008 06:02 PM

Ew, That dosen't sound like fun at all

Bilbo 05-01-2008 06:25 PM

I can go part-time, but it's very expensive, and would take me 6 semesters instead of 4. It's a definite option, but there is a benefit to going full-time. Plus, I can try to get an assistantship that will provide me with room and board plus a small stipend--and I could work part-time on top of that and take out student loans to pay the other bills. But this is a big decision, that's for sure. I'm going to apply regardless because I can always defer my acceptance (provided I AM accepted) for a year to get my life in order.

xuvrette 05-01-2008 06:33 PM

Bilbo... did I miss it? WHat course are you planning to take?

Bilbo 05-01-2008 07:03 PM

I am looking to pursue a Master's in College Student Development and Counseling. Basically, I want to work with college-age students within the realms of student life and activities or residential life.

xuvrette 05-01-2008 07:13 PM

...there s such course... O__O
Well, I hope everything works out for you!

Bilbo 05-01-2008 07:29 PM

Oh yeas--in fact, there are 6-7 schools right here in Massachusetts that offers this kind of program. It's usually called Higher Education Administration--institutions of Higher Ed are very different administratively from other schools, which usually have former educators running the show. In higher ed, the educators have no interest in anything administrative other than maybe becoming a Dean.

xuvrette 05-01-2008 07:35 PM

Dean? *blank*
I thought it is a name.

Leela 05-02-2008 11:55 AM

Good Morning Jessi

It can be a name but at colleges and universities it's also a title - the person in charge of the college is a Dean, there are also Assistant and Associate Deans, and higher up the power chain we have Provosts and then the President.

Academic institutions have weird power structures.

roocee 05-02-2008 01:43 PM

Alot to think about Jessi that's for sure but definately worth it I think.

Bilbo 05-02-2008 03:56 PM

Thanks for the explanation Sia, way better than I would have done!

Thanks Rue, it IS a lot to think about. I probably won't start full-time this September, but will probably still apply and then defer the acceptance till next September--that way I have time to actually plan out what the best way of doing it is.
