Lol thing is, Tab isnt much of a reader, she only just really started to get into it since about November. Can't tell you how many books I gave her that Im going to guarantee are just sitting there gathering dust

siaasgn 06-11-2009 04:08 PM

Ohh. . Did I see that you're reading the Southern Vampire Sookie books?

I've torn through the first 8 of them and am waiting for the next to come out now

I watched the first season of True Blood and then found out it was based on those books - well, season 1 is really just book 1 with some character tweaks. It should be interesting to see if they follow book 2 or takes the show in an entirely different direction.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 04:21 PM

oh hai Si!! How have you been hun

Yeah Im just starting them, I have the first one sitting here but I need to read this Dark Hunter book before its due. I was wondering how the Tru Blood series is, seems that the second season is starting soon and it looks really good. Always did have a thing for those HBO series - Oz, and The Sopranos were my favorite

siaasgn 06-11-2009 04:34 PM

Tru Blood is fantastic- I saw the show before I read the books and I'm not sure what would be the better order. Either way you do it one of them will be spoiled (because you find out a big secret in both).

I know I bought the series on DVD for my library & we can't keep it on the shelf right now. I'm probably going to wait until the 2nd season is done & then just watch it all at once because I'm too impatient to wait between episodes.

I'm doing pretty good thanks. Slow day at work so I'm actually able to sneak online for a bit. :hugs:

Hey Sia...I already have the book 9...did you want to read it?

roocee 06-11-2009 05:41 PM

Good grief Jess the activity in here!!! Wooohooo!!!

I'm like Tab, I read very slow hence the reason I listen to books instead. Also, I get more out of listening than actual reading. Downside is that I can't read all this stuff you all are discussing but that's ok.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 06:10 PM

lol yeah Ive actually been chatting xD

You might be able to find some of those ones Queen suggested, and if you cant get Stephen King on audio then something is wrong. Last I heard he was almost blind, so you would think he would have his books available to listen to. Though, he can get pretty gruesome, I know I talked about the gore in Misery over and over again in utter fascination for months

I'm pretty sure the Southern Vampire ones are audiobooks now. . . yup, the free library owns them . . .ask your library, or see if you can get them through inter library loan from FLP >.<

roocee 06-11-2009 06:22 PM

I'll have to look and see. I am almost done with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Man they are so different from the movies. Especially book 3.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 06:57 PM

pffft I gave up on that halfway through The Two Towers. I applaud your diligence, but I was bored to tears *hides in case of flying shoes*

roocee 06-11-2009 07:02 PM

It really didn't bore me. I'll have to tell you how much of a difference there is in book 3 once I don't have to type all the names.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 07:12 PM

I skimmed 3, I know there is - but it wasnt enough to hold my attention. I think its because thats not really my kind of book

roocee 06-11-2009 07:18 PM

Yeah I just can't believe the difference. Even more so than Harry Potter I think.

siaasgn 06-11-2009 07:52 PM

You know- I love fantasy & scifi books but I could never read the LOTR series . . . I keep thinking I should try again, but I have so many other books I'm actually interested in to read . . .

roocee 06-11-2009 08:01 PM

If I hadn't watched the movies, I highly doubt I would have been able to get through them to be honest. Tolkein is very hard to understand I think.

Queen_Andais 06-11-2009 08:31 PM

Sia...Dead and Gone is the 9th book in the series. And I got it because I pre-ordered it on Amazon back in march. Got the hard cover for under $14 at the time. Woohoo!

roocee 06-11-2009 08:44 PM

That's so true queen. I would get Jess Harry Potter on pre-order and I think it was like $21.00 which wasn't bad either.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 08:45 PM

Halfway through this Dark Hunter book *dances* Tab said it started out dull - I totally disagree. Another action packed novel from Sherrilyn Kenyon - I so puffy heart her

roocee 06-11-2009 08:46 PM

What does Tab know anyway.....*sticks out tongue at her*

Queen_Andais 06-11-2009 08:48 PM

Pre ordering is the best. Especially if you do it through Amazon as they have a price guarantee. If the book drops in price before they ship it to you, you get the difference placed back in your account.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 09:02 PM

Tab is an infant at reading, while I am an ancient - I doubt she would know a good book if it jumped up and bit her in the ass ;)

Queen - Ive never bought a used book on Amazon before. Are they usually in decent condition?

Queen_Andais 06-11-2009 09:07 PM

Most of the time they are books from Libraries. They still have the plastic stuff over the covers. They are in very good condition. They also have new books for cheap as well.
Buy most of my stuff on Amazon these days.

morquarwen 06-11-2009 09:10 PM

He gets paid 3 times next month, Im going to demand money for books lol. I dont mind a used book - as long as its in decent condition

Queen_Andais 06-11-2009 09:24 PM

Amazon is amazing for buying all kinds of stuff. They are so user friendly and it's easier to navigate then most sites.
Besides, they have lots of different business on there that you might not otherwise be exposed too. I enjoy that a lot.

Going silent for a bit, got to head out to the dealer ship. When I get therem I will be posting on my blackberry just so you all know.

roocee 06-11-2009 10:27 PM

I love shopping on Amazon. I got all the twilight books on CD from there and I probably paid about the same price for all 4 that I would have paid for 2 at a bookstore. I do believe at least 1 of them was used and it was in excellent shape.
