Amy and I were watching the episode of True Blood from Sunday since we were out of town and while I love the show and would never miss it, they have definitely gone off the path of the books. *shrugs* Guess you just gotta make the show more interesting.
I envy Andais, would love to be here. There is something to be said about having a caring, cruel streak within your soul. Not saying that I would be into her sexual escapades, but the power and what not is attractive.

morquarwen 07-15-2009 11:43 PM

I know - Im not sure I like the direction they are taking with the show. Time will tell most likely

Melody 07-16-2009 12:12 AM

What book is Andais from? >.> *needs to add to her reading list* xD

Queen_Andais 07-16-2009 12:30 AM

Andais is a character in A Kiss of Shadows. The first book in the Meredith Gentry series. Oh such a great set of books.

Hey Jess...my avatar right now. This is how I picture Andais on a good day. :XD:lol:

roocee 07-16-2009 06:03 PM

I really need to get my eyes fixed so I can actually read a book. Y'all really have me curious now.

Queen_Andais 07-16-2009 06:10 PM

Curiosity is a good thing, Rue.

Right now I am re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse series, love it!

EternalHearts 07-18-2009 02:52 AM

Man, all this talk of books and series has me dying to get to a library. But until I move, I'm not signing up with one. I need to get a bunch of reading in this summer since all I'll be able to read for the next two years are text books.

Queen_Andais 07-21-2009 12:00 AM

Jess, did you catch this week's episode of True Blood? This is my not happy face. Really irritated now with the series. Was looking forward to seeing Stan, the sheriff in Dallas as the nerd. Instead they have him acting like a rogue cowboy and it's disgusting. So many thing are way different and it makes me really sad. Thinking that now is a good time to stop watching the series and prevent further upset on my behalf as Allen Ball rips the books apart and makes his own version of what he thinks it should all be about.
Wonder if I am the only Sookie fan that thinks this show is turning to shit and it's not quite the half way point of the second season. My older sister has chastised me for trying to compare the series to the books, but damn it. That's what the effing show is all about!

roocee 07-21-2009 01:59 PM

All this talk about the true blood series makes me want to see if I can catch up.

Queen_Andais 07-21-2009 03:40 PM

The first season wasn't that long, so I don't see why you couldn't catch up Rue.

Amy and I were talking about the show last night, since she finally watched the latest episode. We've pretty much figured out that what is irritating us most...Allen Ball has made Sookie out to be just a dumb waitress and hasn't really expounded upon the fact that she is really smart. There is more substance then her just being a dim wit.

And there is so much sex! Every episode, someone is getting into it, has it or shows you the aftermath of it. :stare: Kind of disgruntled. Guess I will have to watch a few more episodes before deciding to walk away from it or continue on.

The first season was pretty damn good, like a teaser almost. Now...makes me want to cry.

morquarwen 07-24-2009 09:51 PM

Im assuming that the female at the end was Lorna - and I hope so because this Bill irritates the hell out of me and the sooner hes away from Sookie the better. I like him so much better in the books even though he turns out to be a tool there too. Unless he redeems himself in book 9 which Im still waiting on. And I really dont like how much she hates Eric in the show - I puffy heart Eric. I was looking forward to seeing them make a vamp a nerd, so kinda bummed there isnt a Stan nerd

roocee 07-27-2009 03:04 PM

Might have to try and see about catching up.

Queen_Andais 07-27-2009 03:52 PM

Didn't get to see this week's episode yet since we were having a mini True Blood marathon to catch Amy's friend Kathy up on what's going on. You know what really sucks about this show...all the damn sex and the lack of morals that Sookie seems to have at this point. The fighting between Sam and Sookie that never really happens until later books. Tara and Eggs, with Marianne. Totally confused about where the hell that is going...

Basically, the show has taken on a whole new direction from which I am not sure and it makes me less and less interested in watching the show and forsaking Charlaine Harris for allowing Allen Ball to have so much free reign with the story plot and how everything progresses. Called me Biased, but the books are phenomenal, the show is shit.

morquarwen 07-27-2009 04:21 PM

I agree Queenie, the books are so much better. Last night's episode was pretty good, but it still kinda bothers me that they are moving so far away from the books. I will keep watching, though, cause I keep hoping that it will get better. I dont think I like them making Tara a main character the way they are, I hate what they are turning Jason into, Sam always seems to get the short end of the stick, but I am glad they kept Lafayette. And Andy is just a sorry excuse for a cop, its pitiful!

Queen_Andais 07-27-2009 05:02 PM

And Andy wasn't bad in the books and didn't drink all that much. Sam seems to always get the bums rush, and in the books he has a family. And Sookie really didn't care for Eric in the first few books, it wasn't until later that she came to appreciate him.
Not sure I want to keep watching, hoping that it will get better. Kind of leery since there are things way out of whack with how I know them to be. Kind of reminds me of how as a kid you see things with one set of eyes and as an adult when you go back to visit you see it through another set of eyes, nothing is the way you remember it. Allen Ball is fucking up my childhood (in a mmaner of speaking.)

Melody 07-28-2009 01:11 PM

[/has no idea whats going on] xD

Morning Jess! I see the book discussion is still going strong. I tend to find that the books are generally better than the movies/tv series that attempt to follow them. The stories are good in the books...they should keep them for the shows!

morquarwen 07-28-2009 03:38 PM

morning Mel ^^

Queenie - did you ever watch Six Feet Under on HBO? Allen Ball created that, it was like a soft porn series. I think I watched the first 2 seasons and gave up.

I was on LJ and some one posted something about future episode of True Blood through the end of August. Looks like this whole Maryann thing is going to be featured pretty much through the end of the season. They did say Eric plays Sookie for a fool so Im hoping we get to see her suck the bullet out of him after all lol. And Ball was quoted saying that Eric and Sookie's relationship kinda takes off in season 3 - I will continue watching JUST for that xD

Queen_Andais 07-28-2009 03:49 PM

Jess, you're trying to entice me to keep watching so we can talk about the show, aren't you? Eric and Sookie most certainly do have a relationship since in the 4th book they shack up together while he is mentally out to lunch about his former life, thanks to Hallow and her crew.
Should be interesting to see how Allen deals with that.
So far, the thing I would like to see more of...Sookie actually using her brain. Right now she is nothing more then the brainless Blonde most people would expect from a barmaid in the south. Not my cup of tea and certainly not why I have continued to read the books, that's for damn sure.
Does make me wonder who they will get to play the Queen of Louisiana. Should be fun. Or even her guards, Andre, Sybert and Wybert.

Melody 07-28-2009 07:01 PM

this conversation almost makes me want to start watching it so I know whats going on ;-;

Queen_Andais 07-28-2009 08:33 PM

You should watch it Mel, just not with the kiddies around.

roocee 07-28-2009 08:55 PM

I hear that Mel!!

Queen_Andais 07-29-2009 03:57 PM

*huggles Rue* Hooray for it being Wednesday! Week is half over, well for the most part. I still have 7 and half hours of work left, but hey...it could be worse. It could be monday again :gonk: On a happier note, Aunt Flo has exited the building, which is nice and a few shorter then anticipated. :squee:

roocee 07-29-2009 04:02 PM

This is true. Aunt Flo comes for me starting Monday or Tuesday, so not looking forward to that.

Queen_Andais 07-29-2009 04:07 PM

Well now that it's over, I have to call Kaiser and see about getting an appointment with my doctor so I can get on birth control. Need to start that ASAP so I am covered for when Rodd gets back.

morquarwen 07-29-2009 04:44 PM

I just checked on my Dead and Gone reserve - only one ahead of me now. And I about fainted when I saw that our library has gotten a copy of ALL the Sookie books!! I should have it within a week - one is due back the 29th and the one from another library is due back the 1st.

Im starting the Mortal Instruments series soon - and another vampire series I found on the internet that looks funny. First one in that series is Undead and Unwed. I guess this woman gets killed by an SUV and ends up a vampire, and the vampires think shes their prophecized queen - looks interesting. And I cant fix my spelling error cause I still cant get right click to work damnit :(
