You guys to have a wide variety of reading material.

Queen_Andais 12-29-2009 09:41 PM

Blaze, I would recommend it because it's not like what you would think. It does involve a woman being over powered, but there are so many layers to the story. Very good read.

morquarwen 12-29-2009 10:25 PM

I am currently reading Star Bright by Catherine Anderson, and Dark Demon by Christine Feehan. I started Star Bright last night - it was 2 am before I realized it and I was already halfway through. Its about a woman who faked her death and changed her identity to escape her abusive husband who planned on killing her and ends up working as a bookkeeper on a horse ranch. Ive totally fallen for the cowboy *swoons* She makes her men sound so freakin hot lol

Queen_Andais 12-29-2009 10:40 PM

Sounds delicious, Jess. I might have to look her up.

roocee 12-29-2009 11:03 PM

That does sound like something I would like.

Queen_Andais 12-29-2009 11:40 PM

Interesting quirky books are awesome. And any woman that will fake her death to get out of abuse is worth the reading in my opinion. Not to mention, hot cowboys are a massive plus.

roocee 12-30-2009 12:15 AM

Yes brilliant idea I think.

morquarwen 12-30-2009 12:59 AM

I also recommend her Commanche series. It was out of print but shes re-issuing them. I own the first one, and Ive got the second one from the library. Kind of ashamed to admit that its been put on the back burner for her romances. I just finished My Sunshine, which is another of her romances. The leading female used to be an environmental scientist until she had a swimming accident that resulted in some sort of brain damage that affects her speech. Phantom Waltz is excellent too - the woman in that is a paraplegic who was a champion barrel racer. I love how her woman arent perfect, and how they still manage to find the love of a lifetime *dreamy sigh*

roocee 12-30-2009 01:17 AM

I hear you Jess.

Queen_Andais 12-30-2009 02:41 PM

Makes your heart melt, does it?

Should pick those books up when I am out and about this weekend.

apricotbaby 12-30-2009 05:33 PM

Jess, haven't read Stephen King's new one yet, but was curious to see if either you or Roo had, because I know you read a lot. The last book of his I read was Cell, but I own Lissi's story, just haven't had the motivation to start it. I think his earlier books are nothing short of amazing, but his newer stuff isn't too bad either. I used to laugh right out loud in some of them, especially Cujo, which is ironic because I've lived with 2 St. Bernards now. He certainly does have quite the sense of humor, that man does.

I am totally lost regarding hot cowboys, though. *smirk* ;)

roocee 12-30-2009 06:34 PM

LOL fruity!!!

morquarwen 12-30-2009 06:46 PM

Well, the ladies are nothing short of remarkable fruity :D She makes them courageous, brave, intelligent and beautiful

My favorite Stephen King book - tis a toss up between Rose Madder and Misery. Love those 2, I really do

Queen_Andais 12-30-2009 06:47 PM

I did just read Pet Sematary by Stephen King and I get freaked out sometimes when the lights are off. And it got to the point where I didn't read the book at night >.>;

roocee 12-30-2009 06:53 PM

Pet Sematary totally freaked me out.

Queen_Andais 12-30-2009 07:54 PM

I read Rose Madder...very awesome book.

Pet Sematary the movie creeped out as a kid and the book has creeped me out as an adult.

morquarwen 12-30-2009 07:59 PM

I read It when I was 12. I was so excited because it was my first "grown up" book. My dad was a little apprehensive about me reading it, but I didnt have nightmares or anything. After awhile I think he bought the King books just to please me lol - he belonged to that Book of the Month club for ages, and got good deals on books through it.

Blazestorm 12-30-2009 07:59 PM

Maybe I'll check it out then, Queen.

I've just picked up a copy of Nick of Time by Ted Bell because it was laying around. DH just finished reading it to the kids and the bits that I heard of it were interesting enough for a quick read myself. They certainly enjoyed it (which is all that really matters).

Queen_Andais 12-30-2009 09:24 PM

Just one hour until I get the hell out of work and it could be the most unproductive hour ever! The system is slow and being stupid right now. Can't do any of the work that I need to do. *happy dance* Time to do a mini post marathon on here.

Blazestorm 12-31-2009 12:11 AM

ummmmm... yay, Queen? o_0

apricotbaby 12-31-2009 02:15 AM

My favorite Stephen King book is The Stand, followed by It. I did really enjoy Misery, The Stand, and Rose Madder though! I really REALLY liked Cell too. I had a hard time getting through Insomnia and I still haven't read The Tommyknockers or The Talisman. I guess you could say I am a bit of a SK buff. I have one whole entire bookshelf with almost nothing but him on it.

Blazestorm 12-31-2009 02:37 AM

Wow - I'm impressed, Apricot! I can't even remember most of the Stephen King books that I've read (and the fact that I've read them many, many years ago has absolutely no bearing on that! *whistles* ) XD

apricotbaby 12-31-2009 03:07 AM

My dad is a big time golf player and a lot of the guys up at his country club remember me as the kid that used to walk the course with him with a book in front of my face. LOL I might just go through and read them all again someday, in chronological order, even. That could be interesting!

*snuggles the Blaze*

Melody 12-31-2009 03:06 PM

I can't read Stephen King. It creeps me out. ;-; Scott loves it though, so sometimes he'll leave the book in the bathroom and I'll pick it up...and get confused. xD

Blazestorm 12-31-2009 03:28 PM

I don't know that I could read a Stephen King book these days either, Mel...
