Worked in luggage, high end luggage. Some of those people had money, they were just too tight fisted to let it go without a fight. So you'd sit there and argue with them about the cost and that there was nothing you could do to discoutn the line since the manufacturer did not allow such things. And then there were the people that would stand there and haggle over which line was the best or what color they wanted. Good lord that was just awful.
The store had other things like wallets and Brighton purses and travel accessories. The wallets were my favorite. Handling really nice leather. Briefcases were awesome as well. Actually miss some of my coworkers from that store, but glad that I am no longer in retail. Never again will anyone convince me to work in the mall during that time. Don't even like going to the mall during the damn christmas season. So many people are just rude and the holiday spirit just isn't there like it once was. |
My first job was a movie theatre when i was 18 (yes late i know) and i got promoted to manager after 6 months, learning how to splice and run the movies in the projectors and all that was cool (except for the creepy projection hallway)...second job was Cashier and later Customer Service at Khols, they originally wanted me to start off as a supervisor but i was lik uhhhhhhhhh no i would rather be the peon for a while instead of having to fix all the little obnoxious problems the customers have (i didnt say it like that but i said i'll start out a cashier to get to understand the jbo more since i havent done retail and we'll see) lol but uh..so glad i didnt take that position........hate customers :/
Its always your fault they are miserable people and all that @[email protected] When i worked at a theatre i had a lady that had bought tickets for her and her two daughers two weeks in advance. We told ALL customers come 45 minutes to an hour early as tickets WILL sell out and if you want to get here early to stand in line and wait to get into the theatre thats best if you want to have seats with whomever you're with...well she came 5 minutes AFTER the trailers had started and she was mad we couldnt get seats together for her or make whole rows of people switch around to try to make space...cant do that, so she starts unloading on me about how her car got impounded and her husband might be losing his job and how she just "cant take this right now this isnt right" blah blah and we gave her tickets to the next showing...plus one extra for her husband to come and THEN she tried to say we should also give them all a drink some popcorn and candy EACH for all the trouble this was....needless to say i said NO because we already gave her the proper compensation (refunded her food and gave 3 tickets +1 free to a later show) man i was so mad XD days like that i was so happy to be up in the projection booth, |
Hello!
*looks at conversation* Wow does this sound familiar. XD I sum up most customer service issues to this: "People are dumb." I say this to the new-hires when they complain about this or that ridiculous demand that their customer made on them that day - and I get laughed at. I'm serious! They'll learn. People know darned well what can and cannot be done. They're just all so absolutely sure that the rules are for 'other people' and only THEY have a special case. Riiiight. *rolls eyes* |
Basically, people are pampered. The whole "customer is always right" thing is CRAP and they think that means with ANYTHING that applies to. Blargh, they're lucky im not a crazy person or i would bring a beating stick to work with me if i ever go to retail again and show people how things are! x.x

/saves thread from page 5
Been gone a few days, and now im back! :D |
Now I work in a third party administrator for health insurance. You want to talk about bitchy damn people. These people get unbelievably rude. And they are only that rude because all of our stuff is done on the phone. Since they aren't face to face with you, they think they are entitled to say whatever they want.
People seem to get the gonads to do stuff like that if they dont have to see you. Its a shame x.x
Royally pisses me off that they think just because they aren't here, or that I can't seem them makes yelling at me any better. Just makes me want to help make their lives less stressful lower on my list. Calm and rational people make more sense and are better at understanding that you are doing the best you can. *shrugs* There are of course the morons that have no idea what they are talking about, but are trying to sound like they do. My coworker is a case in point.
Its a "Im miserable and unhappy so no one else can be either" which unfortunately MOSTLY comes from women. Therse the grumpy men but its more of a im right you're wrong attitude that most of them have. I can wait for the day that people are actually more courteous and well mannered...im only 22 but heck i miss the "good ol days" where people were taught manners! Like our grandparents lol...wishful thinking x.x
Manners??? Who uses them these days?? I have to agree I miss the days where you actually were nice and courteous and you got what you wanted. People are too demanding these days.
I have to admit California is perhaps the worst state ever for manners. Mine are well developed thanks to my parents for a well thought out up bringing, but most guys in this state don't open doors for women, make any kind of an effot to be gentlemen and women are just as bad. Too busy to hold that door for you caring a large box or something cause they could be late to yoga or Timmy's soccor practice. Ugh.
Glad that Rodd is from New York, he actually holds open the doors and is a gentleman. So refreshing. |
My boyfriend is canadian, between his parents as well as him teaching himself he has manners. :D Holds doors open, opens the car door for me first and all that. :) Im definitely going to instill manners on my children whenever i get them...start a revolution!
No kidding, the revolution of how to interact properly with your fellow man and have people respect you for being decent and not ruthless. So sad that not enough people are courteous to one another.
I have to agree. My boyfriend holds doors, etc. as well but that is really rare these days.
IMO we need to start the revolution! XD Hopefully this is just a ``phase`` society will go though and will revert back to courteous ways and boo my keyboard is all buggy...
Well, im saving this from page three...come talk to me people! We can change the topic, seems that last one died anyways lol
