I'm also fairly new. Basically, just post around, join in conversations, and play games if that's your sort of thing.

I also recommend going in the easter event, event items are fun, and can be worth something later on down the line! Plus they are sell some clothing that is half price while the event is going on, they will still be available after the event but at full price is my understading.
