Hello from Nolori!
I've been around the Literature Form, so you might know me from there. But there appears to be a giant shocked blonde man with a cat telling me to introduce myself! So here I am.
I'm Nolori, an avid fan of reading, writing, and the written word in general. Huzzah! |
Hi Nolori, nice to meetcha:) Are you reading anything interesting at the moment? I am reading "Harry Potter and the Pholosopher's stone" at the moment...I wanted to see if there was much difference between the US version and the British version.
I'm reading a collection of H.P. Lovecraft stories. I'm on Hunter in the Dark. (Or was it Haunter in the Dark? I can't recall, I just started it.) They're a little long-winded sometimes, but overall I really like them.
That's an interesting idea! Notice any big differences so far? |
Yeah, bogies are boogers, and "Lemon drops" are "Sherbet lemons" So far, it's kinda fun!
Haha, bogies is just about my favorite term for boogers ever. Goodness knows why though.
Agreed! I think Americans coulda handled the British version....but maybe that's just me....
Yeah, probably. But it is for a younger audience, maybe they didn't think the children would understand the little differences? Admittedly, as a child the symbolism of it being called the Philosopher's Stone would have totally been lost on me.

Welcome to mene!
And welcome to the "Dance Troupe" as well! So nice to see a fellow follower of the dance goddess! I just can't wait for the event! |
Thank you very much!
Have you seen Knerd's 50 book challenge in the "Menewsha Nations"? You may like that thread:)
No, I haven't. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
I think you'll like it, the bookies tend to chat there;)
I got to post my list now; it's a pretty awesome idea.
