Is there anyone over 40 here? I joined because I enjoy video games, yet around where I live, there aren't many women over 40 who share my interests. When I'm not video gaming, I'm either writing, drawing, reading, or doing the parent thing to my teen. She's getting older, too, though, so I'm finding more time on my hands as time goes on. Anyway, that's about it for now.

Well I'm 30 so if that makes you feel any better . There is nothing wrong with having those hobbies at 40. You don't have to fall into the stereotypical gray flannel life. Age is just a number when all really comes down to it. I love video games too.

Welcome to Menewsha, I even think that some of the moderators are mothers as well.

I know some of our assistant adminsitrators are in their late 30's, and I'm sure there have to people women in their 40's here, but to be honest I don't pay much attention to age. xD You'll mostly find the older crowd hanging around in Nations or Quests I believe.

What sort of video games do you enjoy?

[edit] kole is right, I'm a mother, but other than me there's only one other person on staff with kids. ^^;;

Thanks for the welcome! Hey, I enjoy video games, and I'm getting to the age now where I really don't give much thought to what others think. I just wish there were others I could share some games with, especially the RPGs. My daughter and I often indulge in stuff like the Destroy All Humans series (gotta love that telepathic ability), and of course, pretty much anything by Square Enix ranks up there for us.

Oh well, at the very least, it keeps me young! :)

I love RPG's! Final Fantasy series was how I got started on them, but now I'm more interested in the Dragon Quest series. I have DQ IV and V for the Nintendo DS. Right now I'm playing the Star Ocean series, the First Departure for the PSP.

Dragon Quest is awesome. We first discovered that series when Final Fantasy XII came out with the demo disc for DQ VIII. The only one I haven't enjoyed as much is the newer DQ for the Wii. I'm still trying to get the hang of using the remote like a sword. ;)

I've never played Star Ocean, but it looks like the kind of game I'd enjoy. I LOVED the Xenosaga series-- is it anything like that? And as for Final Fantasy-- yes, it is truly awesome. Our very first video game we owned was Kingdom Hearts, and it was that game that introduced us to the wonderful, vibrant FF world. I still love FF X, VII was great, too, but my ultimate favorite was FF XII. The storyline of that one was so rich.

Dragon quest for the DS IV and V are great. I liked VIII it was my favorite, I have an idea for an enhanced port for the Wii in the computer/video games forum and you want to tell me what you think about my ideas. The problem with FF XII many people weren't used to the running around battlesystem, or the fact you had to wait until you could hit something. I liked it myself but never finished it. Star Ocean series are very long and require lots of leveling up, but are very rewarding and fun since they have a synthesis system.

Star Ocean is love. I have the one for PS1 (Star Ocean the Second Story) I think it's still my favorite game. xD They have it (well a remake of it) out for PSP now, Star Ocean Second Evolution. My brothers said it follows the plot of the one for PS1 but I haven't had the money to purchase it for myself yet. But I must say I did love First Evolution.

I still need to finish Kingdom Hearts...one of these days. >.>

I have Star Ocean 2 for the PS1, but I'm going to get it on PSP so I can see the cut scenes and I did not know they had a English subbed anime of Star Ocean 2 on youtube you can check out. So far Star Ocean one (The First Departure) Is great. I'm almost halfway through it. So if you need any tips just ask. I never finished the second one on PS1 because of one mountain pass trail toward the end and if you don't go a certain way you get stuck in the mountain and I had already saved inside. I got super frustrated-- don't ever make that mistake.

I got lucky and was able to purchase a PSP because some college brat came in gamestop one day when I was talking to a friend of mine who works there and he brought in a PSP and wanted to sell it. They were only going to give him 35$ for it so being opportunistic I offered 40$ and he jumped on it. There was nothing wrong with it at all and I took the PSP and ran. LOL

Hi! I'm new as well, and 30... absolutely love Star Ocean, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy, and all of that. ;)

Feeling a little naked, I must say, though - hopefully I can get some clothes soon >.>

Welcome, another of my generation! Splendid! Like I said I'm playing Star Ocean right now. (I hope I'm not getting too far off topic.) Play some games and you can make up to 500 gold in a day and be able to get you a decent outfit to start. I'm fairly new myself.

I'd love to read your ideas. Where do I go?

I think one of the neatest things I liked about the FF XII battle system was the gambits. It came in handy setting someone to handle curing (I usually gave that to Ashe) while two of the others could open a can of whupass on whatever got in the way.

If you need to level up a lot in Star Ocean, I KNOW I'd love it. My daughter's always teasing me about how much time I spend leveling up, hunting for chests, you know, just taking my time enjoying the game. Whenever a game claims to have 40 hours' worth of playing time, I know I'll go well over that. It makes the final bosses that much easier if you're as bulked up as you can be. :)

That good, eh? Okay, note to self: check out Star Ocean. :)

I never finished Kingdom Hearts myself. My daughter fought the final boss for me. :::Cringe:::

LOL I know the feeling! Luckily, they have that one shop where you can buy a gunny sack for a dress for 30 gold. :)

And here I am, saving up for armor. :::Sigh::: Guess it'll take awhile.

BTW, does anyone here know if the programmers are going to design any leather scaled armor for avatars?

Nice to meet ya, Nette! My daughter's been looking around the site, and she tells me there's an artist forum where you can put your art online and set up art shops to sell stuff. I'm going to check into it soon.

What do you like to draw? I love drawing figures especially. My daughter does anime, I do more realistic type figures.
