Why isn't there some sort of introduction guide to help you get started? I don't even know how I'm supposed to dress my avatar yet.

There is a Newbie Guide up near the top if you click on forums and fresh meat. You earn gold by posting the longer th post the more you get so I'm not shortening any words. You can also get some by playing games(fun fun)

But how do I dress myself?

You earn the gold then go to the shops it also says some useres have used clothes for sell for cheaper once you buy something you go to your profile and click on your avatar and you have drawers I think let me go double check not sure I have enough money to buy anything yet
