I've got a lot of hobbies/ interests. Different people will call it different things, I believe the politically correct term is a "Renaissance Woman." I love to draw, paint, sculpt, sing. Occasionally I will write a little poetry, although I tend to keep that too myself. Maybe eight years ago or so is when I stopped RolePlaying online. I love books, movies, hiking.....dear lord. The list really does go on.

I have a question though. I assume the collectible's are monthly, more or less. Are they the only items available? I haven't been able to find anything else yet, and I'd rather not wear undies for a month or more. They get smelly like that! :o

....Icon on the top right, says "Shops." You'd think after so many years a girl would know how to read a screen! :P Time to do some online shopping. It's nice to be able to shop till I drop in a game, where things are tight irl. I don't have to worry about blowing a budget and I still get to feed that shopper that lurks in the subconsciousness of all us girls. <3

Hehe. Yea, I was just about to post to explain to you how it worked when you posted before me instead with it all figured out. XD

Anyway, I blow so much money on here. It's just good I can earn it so fast. I'm scared to even look at the shops right now. I just recently got a lot of gold and I know I'm going to blow all of it if I even glance at them at all.

Where all do you earn gold? Is it partly just a matter of how much time you spend logged on? Or are there other things, like surfing, player-player fighting, mini games, etc?

*is drooling over some of the items* le sigh~

Well, if you makes your posts a couple of paragraphs long instead of a few sentences, you can actually get 20 gold per post, which is where I get most of my gold. You don't have to spend all day online to make a couple of hundred gold, but it does help when your posts are longer.

And I also play games sometimes. I, personally, prefer tetris, but a lot of other people like the fan girls game. It's pretty fun, too. And the fishing one is nice as well.

It's not that hard when you get a hang of those games to earn 30-50 gold per game you play per time you play it.

That's not too bad then. I also play Gaia online and short of playing the market, the gold return is marginal compaired to the cost of the better items. You get maybe 20g a post, averaged over the first 5-6. Then it drops to maybe, maybe 1 gold. Then you look through market and most items are a few thousand. Evolving items/ group items are more along the lines of a hundred thousand or so. It takes forever and a half to save to get anything. Or in my case, about three and a half years. Bleagh, ah well.

And sorry about that. I tend to talk in fragmented thoughts. So that's how my posts tend to come out. A mass flood of just little things. Sometimes they connect, sometimes they don't. My mind works too fast most times. It really makes it hard to slow down enough to get a fully developed thought out there. That and ...to be honest, people scare me. I get a little hyper around new people, or being tossed into new situations.

I've gotten better over the years, but I still have tendencies. And, I'm strange anyway. ^^

Thanks, oh by the way, for being patient, and actually helping me out here. I don't always get that experience when starting a new game. I really do appreciate it.

I like helping out the new people on here, so I don't mind. XD You'll see me in this section regularly if you ever start welcoming new people too.

Yea, I don't know if I said this earlier in the thread or not, but I posted on Gaia for a long time as well. I actually have a kiki kitty and a coco kitty on there and several other expensive items, but I got ALL of them from either charity or spending a lot of real money on monthly items.

Here, you don't have to do anything like that. The items are much more easily attainable.

I get nervous around new people too, but mostly only when I talk to them one on one. In big groups, I'm all outgoing, like on forums and things.

Yeah, I missed that part. A friend of mine from when I RPed on MSN (this was before their chatroom access was to paid accounts Only) introduced me to Gaia. There really wasn't much back then. I never liked the forum layout when an open chat was available. As you noticed before, I like the speed of insant posting/ chatting. Anyway, it wasn't much. There weren't even as many clothing options or stores as there are on here. Major Kudos, too, to the ability to change the base character. I absolutely adore that feature.
....yeah, I stopped playing for a few years and didn't get back on. Then I realize I missed all the interesting items that started coming out. Now they have the evolving items, and Dernier Cri, which has nice things, but nothing under 1,000,000 or so. I've been getting the EI's and reselling them when they finish evolving. Sometimes, I'll re-buy a newer version for less and keep the profit. Even still, it takes a long time to develop an inventory.

I'm thrilled I've already got about 39g here and I feel I've done so little.

As for the nerves, I work opposite of you. Small groups are better because I can focus and deal with one person a lot easier than a mass of people. Part of it is that I'm no stranger to mob mentality. A person can be nice enough, but part of a croud they become mean and cruel. ...sad fact. The intensity of someone else focusing directly on you though is another problem. For years and years I solved it by avoiding the eyed. I don't think I knew the color of my own parents' eyes until I was in highschool. Again, I've been working on all that. It started by chatting online. Believe it or not, it was really what I needed to get the courage up to talk to people face to face. It's still weird, but I can look people in the face when I talk to them. ^^

Yea, see, I can't deal with the intensity of one on one conversation at all unless I am already really close to the person. I get all uncomfortable and feel this pressure to talk and like I'm going to say something stupid. In person, sometimes I stutter a little on one on one conversations.

Yea, part of the reason that you are able to make so much gold is you don't make short one word or one sentence posts (at least from what I have seen), which is very similar to me as well. You make gold so easily when you're just able to say a little more, which is what I love about this forum. Most other forums I have to keep my posts really short because no one will read them if I don't.

I love the fact that I can change my avatar on here and hair on a whim. I am obsessed with changing my hair and I'd always waste so much gold on Gaia on hair that would disappear whenever I got a new hairdo. =(

This is true, true, and verily true.

And yeah, I tend to stick to wigs and basic hair. You can delete your avatar and remake it for free, but you only have so many options when you do that. Otherwise, you have to get the items that have a good hair option. Even then, it costs a lot. And I change my mind too often for it to be healthy on there. Hehe.

So, all this talk about me, and us not talking well. What kinds of things do you like? Any favorite books, movies, or music?

I tend to watch most anything, bad, good, pop, anything. Horror tends to make me laugh more than it really scares me. The only movie that ever sent a chill down my spine was one called Pet Cemetary. To this day I cannot sleep with my feet hanging over the bed because of it. One of my favorite books is the Phantom of the Opera, not really because I want to be Christine, but just because all the inability to communicate, and my passion for music, makes me identify closely with the Phantom. Although, in the book, you get more of the history behind the character than you really do in the movies. And...I'm strange, but I'm not really evil.

Most newbies don't even ask about me. =) It's nice of you to ask.

Anyway, I'm a writer mostly and I go on forums a lot. I love fantasy and romance and will watch and read prettyu much any book, television show, or movie that has romance and fantasy in it and some with just one and not the other.

I like a wide variety of music. Pretty much anything. The only thing I hate is the kind my boyfriend listens to! Argh! (I've been dating him for 4 years by the way.) He likes that stuff where they grunt and scream like maniacs and play guitar. Like heavy metal or death metal. I'm not sure what it is. He's explained it to me before, but I forget the differences between the kinds of "metal" that there are in music.

I can not watch horror movies for the life of me. The scariest things I can watch are those scary episodes in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (like that possessed kid episode, OMG), but nothing worse than that. D= I won't be able to sleep.

I love, love, love the soundtrack for Phantom of the Opera. It makes me feel all giddy to listen to it because it's so pretty! I haven't read the book though. I did watch the movie.

Yes, I love the musical score as well. It's amazing, and Sarah Brightman has such a lovely voice. I try to sing it, but I don't really know how well I can. I have at least three voices I know of, the one in my head, the one people can hear, and the one you get when it's been digitalized, like over the phone or a microphone. I know my head voice is a lot huskier than my real voice. It's gotten to the point to where I hear a mixture of my head voice and my "other people" voice. I don't sound that bad, a little higher, a little softer, but not bad. Now, I've tried recording my voice before, and......I sound like a breathy little elementary school choir girl. It's bad....it actually made me stop singing altogether for about a year. ....I don't think I really sound like that anymore, but, I'm not sure. So yeah. o.o

Anyway, I tend to like music that's a little more....audible. I don't want to destroy my eardrum with screetching and screaming. I get enough of that from little babies at work. So I'm with ya on that one. Some of the ones I really like though, are Sarah Brightman, Muse, Infected Mushroom, Alicia Keys, Etta James, Presidents of the United States of America, etc. etc. I've got a list of them somewhere.

I'm lucky though. My boyfriend and I have similar tastes and beleifs. However, there's an age difference. So I show him new things, and he shows me old things. It works very well that way. However, most of the time I think we stick more to the science part than the fantasy, but not always. We both love crime/ detective stories. I think it's the one real draw to a horror movie. We like to take bets on who's going to die next, and where the plot will turn. If you like those side plot romance? kinda things.....Dr. Who is really good. Especially the "newer" versions with The Doctor and Rose Tyler. They're a cute kinda would be couple. There's also a bit of action, mystery, sometimes a little horror, but always very interesting.

I think the difference for me between sci-fi and fantasy is that fantasy is an escape, sci-fi is a mask. Fantasy is good at whisking you away into the life of someone else in some ethereal existence. Sci-Fi is best when it projects a real world philosophy, social order, etc. in the guise of make believe. I think it's an easier dose for people to take than, "You're all being stupid and cruel, stop it!"

And I remember Buffy. I think I stopped watching a little after Angel came out. Things just start getting weird in most series after a while. Once Darla, Angel, and Dru all got together, and the Apocalypse was avoided, again, it started getting to be too much deja vu.

Haha, yea. Sometimes with some shows I think it's time for them to end even though they haven't because it becomes too predictable and formulaic. It was unique at first, but then the shows will start copying themselves some if that makes any sense, although those shows personally didn't give me that problem.

I've heard a lot of good things about Dr. Who. I won't be surprised if I wind up watching it eventually.

And I liked the way you described the difference between fantasy and sci-fi. I like being whisked away from reality in that way and so does my boyfriend. He LOVES fantasy and was the one who got me into it, so I think that's why I like it. He likes sci-fi, too, but complains about it if it isn't based on reality and science at all because it's supposed to be.

And I totally know what you mean about the voice thing. I don't really sing in front of people, I just sing to myself. I like doing that, but when I hear recordings of myself singing or talking, I cringe. A whole lot. D=

I like Muse and Sarah Brightman quite a bit, although I only started listening to Sarah Brightman recently.

Do you work in a day care?

My boyfriend is actually younger than me rather than older, but only by a little over a year.

First off, thank you!!! Always gotta do that when I get a compliment. And no, I work at an Art/ Craft store. If you live in the US or Canada you might know it? It's called Michael's. It's a fun place to work most times. It provides me with a unique blend of jobs and responsibilities. I get to make thing, help people, and sometimes I can just stand behind a register all day. There's more to it, and most certainly, there's a LOT of mothers with their kids. Sometimes they're cute and adorable. However, there's just as good a chance they're going to be a little monster in the store. Not much you can do either way.

And that's good! A lot of times it's best to date people in the same age group. Although the older you get the less a year or two means. My boyfriend and I are "timeless." Nothing we believe or like really dates us, and we both keep open minds for the most part. If you've ever seen House though, you know how stubborn my boyfriend can be though. We both pride ourselves in trying to be correct. He just likes to take it to the extreme at times. I realized a long time ago that no matter what we do, we can't know if even basic truths are ultimate truth or not. So why beat people over the head with it?

And yes, you should watch Dr. Who. :P I try to indoctrinate anyone I can. It's just a really good show. Longest running, and it's -still- interesting and unique in many ways.

I think one thing that really kills a show is when they loose the original writer/ idea. Then everything becomes more like a business. That's where the formula comes in. People like certain things, in general. So you incorporate those certain things. It won't stand out. You loose most of the creativity, but you keep a large mass of followers, because they'll watch for those few things. It's like when a music artist has to compromise their music to gain popularity. Once achieved, they start to stray, or really, fit into their real styles. Basically, Step 1: acquire fan base through whatever means possible. Step 2: worry about what kind of music you are making when you can afford to lose some listeners. TV series are often the opposite. A good series comes out fresh, unique. It'll either grab a following or not based on it's characteristics. If it catches, then it starts running through and worrying about maintaining viewer bases.

I heard once, the secret to writing a good novel, was to make in an interesting series of shorter sub-stories. Of course, these are the chapters, but when each one starts out with a fresh grab for attention, it makes the overall experience more enjoyable. I think that's how Dr. Who gets it so right. The main character reincarnates. With each new Doctor, there are new character quirks, sidekicks, knowledge and "unknowledge" You get to learn and relearn everything all over again, in a different way unique to that particular incarnation. -And I say "unknowledge" because a lot of times the Doctor will sort of know and not know at the same time.

Welcome to Menewsha Sinziana! Looks like you're doing a good job getting your feet wet here. :D I hope you enjoy yourself!

I just wanted to leave you a quick reminder that double posting is not allowed on Mene, unless it meets one of three circumstances:
1) if it's been at least five hours since your last post
2) if your thread has fallen off the front page of the forum (and you must post on-topic to bump it back up, as "bump"ing is not allowed)
3) if you're reserving posts for a permanent thread.

Instead of double posting, just go back and edit your previous post. :D I"ll go ahead and merge the double posts on the last page together for you. Just wanted to let you know so you don't get into trouble in the future. If you do accidentally double post, just click the red report button on the second post and tell the mods that you accidentally double posted. They'll merge your post for you and you won't get into any trouble. :D

...I'm so sorry. T_T I'm not used to doing the "edit" and I'm a little scatter-brained. Sometimes things come out a bit after the fact. I think I did that somewhere else today, too. I'll see if I can't go back and fix it. I'll be much more careful in the future. ^-^;

No problem! :D It's a typical mistake, since there aren't rules about double posting on most other avatar sites. :D

Just be sure to report any accidental double post you make, and you won't get into any trouble. :D

Have a good day!
