Bienvenue à Menewsha, ccmem~ :D I won't attempt anything more, my French is terribly rusty...

Why do you hope to be invisible from the general public? We're not a scary bunch, I promise!

Hahaha my French is pretty bad aside from the basics :)

I'm a strange person apparently. Invisibility is a a trait that appeals to me even though I'm sure everyone in Menewsha are great people~ I've heard only good things actually haha

Thanks for the welcome~

You're very welcome. I'm a bit of a lurker myself, when I'm not failing to log in for weeks on end, so I can understand the appeal of invisibility, but Mene's a welcoming site - you can jump into a discussion anywhere, anytime.

My French used to be pretty good, but I haven't used it in years. I could probably still read it passably, but speaking (or in this case typing) it would be a different matter entirely...

I'll be sure to keep that in mind then. :)
Speaking French comes more naturally to me when I speak it than when I write it. I never really needed to write things down in conversations which is how I learned my French. And you should know , like I do, that sounding out French syllables is never the right answer. Pity.

Oh, yeah. Like English, it's kind of confusing to figure out how it sounds from how it's written. I just have a better memory for shapes than sounds, so reading and (to some extent) writing comes a lot easier. And I learned all of my French at school, too, where I dodged conversation practice as often as possible... It's really entirely my fault that I'm so bad at it. XD

Do you speak many languages?

ccmemories 11-12-2010 01:17 AM

Lol English is much easier than French for sounding out words. Plus with all the slang nowadays, there isn't a real need for correct spelling apparently. I have a better memory from experiencing things and pictures. But writing is always more difficult for me even though reading isn't much of a problem. I took French in school when it was mandatory but other than that, it was from living in a French speaking country. Try to expose yourself more to French speakers. maybe that'll help?
I pick up little things from here and there. I can speak it but I can barely write it.

I'd say English and French have a similar level of difficulty... though English has more weird pronunciation rules, I think having to remember verb conjugations in French levels the playing field a bit. I think spelling is important no matter what language you're writing! But then I'm pedantic that way, haha. I don't mind spelling mistakes, but spelling words wrong due to it being slang kind of annoys me...

It probably would help, but I lack confidence with speaking so badly. Even English, though I've been speaking it since I first learnt to talk, haha. I always just barely pass the speaking segments of my language exams, I have to rely on good marks in the written papers to pull me through. ;; Thank you for the advice, though. I'm going to have to put it into practice in order to improve my Japanese soon...
