Collana is here.
Hello Menewshan(?) people. I'm Collana, no it isn't my real name but I like it and so I'm using it.
I'm completely new to this site, but not to forum sites in general. My first was gaia (no, I won't gush about how it is so much better/worse here than gaia) and I've visited others. I'm finally feeling up to sticking with a site, so this will be the one. I found this site by googling it, yay google. Lets see... more about me... I'm currently working on a book I plan to self publish it on Amazon Kindle soon. I hope to make it three books, I already have the plot all outlined and ready, just have to write the dern thing. This means I'll probably be role playing here a bit to help work me into writing more. I write stories better than I role play, so don't get your hopes up about me being some uber-Advanced role player. Anyways, that is about all I can think of to share. Ask and you'll learn more. I look forward to getting to know all of you in this fun community. |

Would it be considered advertising if I let people know here when I publish my book? It probably would since I'd make money off it v.v |
WELCOME TO MENEWSHA! I"M NEW TOO!
You have to tell me the title of the book!!I have a Kindle and there too much book out there to choose from!Too bad the Wifi there broke:( How do you publish onto the Kindle???I've always wanted to do something like that too, I'm an amature writer that doesn't like other people looking at my works so at least in kindle its a bit more comfortable:) GOOD LUCK! |

Haha I'm planning to write exactly 3 books myself XD
Really? Amazon walks you through publishing a whole book? O.o Welcome to MAA (Menewsha Addicts Anonymous) I hope you enjoy your stay here. Anyways I'm just being silly, how do you do? A Road to Atlantis? Ooh... sounds like a future movie based off a book =D |
The Wandering Poet:
It allows you to publish with them, which is as simple as uploading your word document (with some special things added to make an interactive table of contents). Once you upload, it is published and copyrighted to you. You can get 70% of the proceeds to your book if it cost under 10 bucks. It is only published on Kindle. I'm doing well, thank you for asking. And yourself? I hope it will be at least a seller. Best seller would be awesome. Movie would make me faint. |
Haha... can always hope. I've seen a lot of "first books" become movies lately =)
What genre is the book gonna be? Hmm... kindle only? Are kindles popular enough to profit off of that? o.o |
The Wandering Poet:
It will probably be young adult fiction. It will be kindle only because I can publish there for free first. More and more publishing companies are looking there for authors and books to pick up. It will be a start and kindles are quite popular and becoming more so as the price comes down for the reader. It is kind of a trial for my book. If people start to buy it up, I'll look into my other options of publishing. I'll likely list it for $2.99 USD. Kindle gives you 70% of that if it is under $9.99. A simple amount, but decent. |
Hmm... interesting... o.o I'll have to look into that.
$130 or so dollars for a kindle right now? Rather pricey personally... but if it can hold a ton of books it likely pays for itself over time :) Also something my wife's mother taught me (she's an author) is that you can publish by CD as well. Not 100% sure how, but it's a lot cheaper than publishing the book. I think you need a bar code or something though for that before you can sell it. |
The Wandering Poet:
I like the kindle because the books are cheaper and quicker to obtain. You save money in the long run (I think) and my husband's kindle is on the same account as mine so we can share books. I'll have to look that up, the CD. |
How many books total can a kindle hold? :O
|
The Wandering Poet:
The new kindles are $114 and hold 1,500 books on average... however, you don't have to keep your books on the kindle. Whatever you purchase stays on your account for you to redownload later if you want to. So you can take them off and put them back on at no cost. |
Wow... 1,500 books? o.o that's a lot of reading... that's a lot of trees saved too
|
The Wandering Poet:
Yeap. You can load music on them too and have it run while you are reading. They hold less with files like that, but you don't really need to hold all the books you own at one time. |
Wow... music while reading? o.o a kindle sounds amazing...
|
The Wandering Poet:
I love my kindle. I have a cover for mine that has a light in it that isn't too bright or too dull... it uses the battery of the kindle and I still only have to charge it every three weeks on average. |
Every 3 weeks? I wish computers only needed recharged that often @[email protected]
|
|
Yeah... a computer or phone normally only gets a life span of like 8-12 hours...
|
The Wandering Poet:
My computer dies after one hour or so. My husband's last a half hour. |
Wow... the batteries must be pretty old. My computer lasts 0 minutes and my wife's lasts 1 though XD
|
|
Yeah but only if plugged in
Have you found any places to fit in here on mene yet? ^^ |
